CHESTER48:I realy cant get you, but think of what will happen if you buy a brand new Intel Dual Core Processor into an old computer whose hardrive only has two days to go! I know brain cells live longest, but not for eternity and its actually controlling something, we can artificially keep it alive on its own but we are talking about NATURALLY keeping it alive here! |

So the 19 year old died so that another might live... Can we call him Jesus? BTW South Africa is the real giant of Africa. Not by size but by brain. |

mikkypel:Yea, the head is the identity, but in the analogy I gave, after the head of PMB has been put on the body of GEJ, will the GEJ's body grow to the height of PMB? We are talking of two entities whose individual identities are well known before and what will be people's reaction after have been merged! I agree, the final product will think, talk and "act" like the head, will it also walk, run and wear cloths like the head? |

frisky2good:All of them become old! That is when you talk of memory loss, because some part of the brain are already dying! |

lygn19:If they put GEJ and PMB side by side in an identical cloth and completely wraps their heads, won't you be able to still recognise who is who? |

herald9: Please stop this divisive talk. What will you say, if you discover that the list of doctors involved includes, for example, a South African trained Nigerian and a Cuban trained Malawian? Just celebrate the fact that black and white Africans have registered a monumental achievement. This is good news for the world about Africa and the Africans. All Africans should take ownership and embrace this groundbreaking achievement as their own. Walk tall, Africa! While Italian neurosurgeon, Dr Canavero, was busy traveling and informing the world about his plans to perform the world's first head transplant on a 30 year old Russian volunteer in 2017, a multiracial team of specialists quietly and successfully performed it in 2015, here in South Africa, thereby making it a double - the world's first heart transplant in Cape Town and the world's first head transplant in Johannesburg. |

Don't you think that with a new heart pumping blood into the brain and with better lungs supplying oxygen to the body the brain might just become rejuvenated? Just wondering not that I'm trying to prove you wrong. sinkhole: |

Re: World’s First Successful Head Transplant Operation: Man’s Head Cut Off by sinkhole: 5:46pm On Nov 12, 2015 |
frisky2good:Of course, you make sense! But the problem is that brain is a very delicate tissue; you can restart a failled heart, lung etc, but once brain cells starts dying its really very difficult to stop and restarting a "failled" brain is really hard; that is why brain cells leave for a very long time without dying! And I beleive there is a "brain clock", whether you supply fresh blood/oxygen or not, brain cells will die when they are to die, otherwise mere supply of oxygen and fresh blood would have been able keep people alive for indefinite length of time in hospitals! |

The brain's activities will still be that of the 36 years old...36 year old brain functioning on a 21 years old body,if the brain clocks 90 the body will be 75,the 90 years old brain will control the body's activities to function exactly like a 90 years old body...The implication of the surgery is just that the cancer has been gotten rid of and not to prolong life, once the brain dies at it set time the body whether that of a fresh 16 years old will die.. |

sinkhole:I disagree with you, u c, consciousness, mind n thinking goes with the part of the brain is associated with d cerebral cortex. The short coming of these experiment to me is the exceptional mind development with an extention of time, the brain cells will remain active so long the body nerves r sound. Think of a sound car with break failures, the battery in these car is the brain, although th battery sends charges its nt up to the battery to fix the break fluid. To me these is exceptional. |
