"Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are", is a very famous aphorism, that tells us the importance of friendship and especially the quality of friendship. In relationship, most persons go for anyone of the opposite gender to which they are attracted to; and very few even consider anything beyond that exciting attraction of being in a romantic relationship.
To most guys, being in relationship is just a thing of fun. Little do they know that the quality of persons they befriend is even more important than the relationship. The kind of partner you have determines a lot about your life: your future, your joy, your sexual health, your peace and even your lifespan and safety. One of the greatest fallacies of our time is the notion that "good girls love bad guys". I believe this is untrue; for no good person can fall in love with a bad person. Good and bad are like light and darkness-they can't co-esxist. If a girl loves a bad guy, then she is equally bad, maybes she doesn't even know. Maybe she claims she is a good girl, but her instincts say otherwise. It goes the same way for the guys. A good guy will be repelled by bad girls; just as light repels darkness. Not because of their looks or accents, but because of their disposition and attitude.
The values of your partners tell us about your values: if you have a girlfriend that steals or is fraudulent in her dealings with people, then you might as well be a fraudulent guy. Even if you claim not to be, you still have a problem: the problem of permitting evil. Your inability to reprove a girl with such evil traits or your decision to stick to her, despite the potential danger, tells on how honest, disciplined and principled you are. An honest and upright guy will never condone evil, even though it's coming from a bedmate or lover!
Your boyfriend's friends, also show the kind of girl you are. For example, dating a guy who is not a cultist but have cultist friends is suicidal. It also shows the kind of girl you are. If you can date a guy that condones associating with cultists, then you also tolerate cultism. For which upright person will hate a thing and love those who love them? It's like saying you hate jungle justice but love violent people. Aren't the perpetuators of jungle justice violent people? How can you hate cultists but love someone who loves them?
The essence of this post is just to help us to be more selective of the people we give ourselves to. Being selective NOT about their looks, academic qualifications, accents, financial worth, physique but about their values: what they hate and love; who their role models are; who they like and dislike; where they go and what they do when they go there and what they believe and not believe in.
