I have always wondered why Nigerians love white man's culture more than their own culture. I have heard people say its colonial mentality. Some say Nigerians are stewpid. Other says Nigerians are ashamed of their own culture. However, whatever the reason is, it is clear that our love for the white man is not reciprocal. In all my years among white people, I have seen this cultural love reciprocated. I see lots of white people celebrating India culture; Japanese culture and even Chinese culture but you will hardly see them even acknowledge Nigerian/African culture let alone celebrate it. But here, I see Nigerians changing their own culture to accommodate Father Christmas (St. Nicholas - a very WHITE man). A lot of them traumatizing their kids in the process just because they want to do things exactly like the White man. Even this original poster is passive aggressively resisting the possibility that father Christmas can Africanized. To him, the babalawo Father Christmas is NOT right. The closer the Father Christmas is to a white man, the happier the average Nigerian is. Isn't this shameful? Isn't this something we should all rebuke?
