Hello people!

I have. 2003 Toyota Camry SE V6 which is quite a 'rocking' car.

However, my one issue is that though the manufacturer claims 21/28 mig for city/highway, I have realised I average about 15-17mpg in the city. I don't travel much but the 4mpg difference is much o; especially in this times of fuel uncertainty.

I use my specified 5W-30 engine oil, clean out my air filter regularly, carry out an oil change every 3k miles (in fact I'm doing another change this weekend) and generally treat it right.

Still I haven't reached that manufacturer stated mileage.

Is that mileage a farce like the VW scandal of ar or is there something else I can do the further improve my mileage.

Please don't tell me to put camphor in the fuel tank o!

Is overdrive on as it should be all the time? Also everyone drives differently. The way you drive can easily impact MPG.

1. Is there any Check Engine Light illuminated in the car?
2. Do you have binding brakes?
3. Do you carry out regular scheduled tuneups?
4. Do you drive like the stig?
5. Do you carry unnecessary load?
6. Hope you know over time no matter what, an engine loses its efficiency due to wear and tear?

It is a 12year old car, I average 14mpg. Wish I could get as high as 17mpg city driving.

I remember when I had an oxygen sensor issue, with the way the car drank fuel I started suspecting the sensor.

your fuel economy seems okay. where do you live? if lag or pH, then your mpg is even better than most.

mileage is 18 city, 21 highway. 21/28 is d 4cylinder variant.
check for binding brakes nd tire size.
if ur cel.is nt on and above is ok ...chief dnt go nd spend unnecessary cash oooo....your car is over 13yrs old so efficiency cnt b 100%.

Stop that kazeem talk. Many kazeems know their onions so don't berate them. Besides, the car is 13years doesn't mean it can't be tuned to perform excellently.

Make I no lie...I sometimes drive like The Stig...

The answer to all your questions na yes...except for 5. I no dey carry load at all. When I know what it'll do to my performance.

Anyway, I kinda knew all this but was looking to see if I could improve it more.

Whenever I watch dem Jezza, and dem talk say car dey do 30+ mpg...I just dey vex for my car sometimes...

Have you cleaned or replaced the MAF? Try cleaning with CRC maf cleaner.

Hmmm...haven't done that. Will try that and see what happens.

by Nigeria standard ur car mpg is alright. u can hardly meet d manufacturer qouted mpg cos ur car is not 90% new, roads down here are terrible, fuel not at best standard, spare parts not 95% standard. by my experience u can't meet up.

How can I calculate MPG? I think mine is doing 10miles per gallon o. Not sure.
