his your son going to ebute-meta music nursery and primary school grin

Don't you think this is kind of derogatory? It's a calculated attempt to slight the people of that divide. If you care to know, Ebute-meta has produced champions who are leaders of industries like the Tejuoshos, the Art- Alades, Denrele Edun, Jide Kosoko, Obafemi Martins, Tokunbo Afikuyomi, Musiliu Obanikoro, Adolphus Wabara just to mention a few.

I attended elementary and secondary schools both in Ebute-meta, never wrote GCE, made my WAEC and got admitted to a federal university at one sitting, made excellent grades at the university and an enviable professional now. So........There's absolutely nothing wrong with Ebute-Meta schools.

Hmmmmm... It seems some teachers that're Amebo or trying to see the intellectual capabilities of parents intentionally do this. Dont you know that some teachers do try to use homework to find out whats happening in your home? Dont you know that some teachers do try to use homework to find out info about parents? There's a day my niece brought an assignment. The questions were like ''whats the date of birth of your mum, whats the maiden name of your mum, whats the full name of your mum, whats the full name of your dad, whats your date of birth of your mum, what occupation is your mum doing and in not more than 5 pages, write what you love about the job, whats the occupation of your dad, also what you love about the job, what's the recent event that happened in your home that made you sad, what event that made you happy and other foolish questions.

Lots of very foolish questions like that.

When i saw it. I was like wooooowww.. Very smart teacher.

I told her dad what the homework is all about, that the teacher is trying to use it to gather info. Could even be for spiritual purpose. Who knows.

She didnt do the assignment and a letter was written to the teacher to never in her life to give the girl such home work again.

Its time for parents to once in a while go through their children assignments to know what and what.

Parents needs to be wise to avoid teachers stylishly using home work to gather info from your children in a bid to know what such family is upto.

Check my signature for ur customised wristband
mehn, some espionage stuff, subtly gathering info. Thats really bad.

An angry lady took to her Facebook page to bash schools who give pupils homework that are beyond them and also address the high level of incompetence and misplaced priorities in schools. Read after the cut.

I am very certain that when I become a mother, and my child (ren) are in this country, I'm going to be the scourge and headaches of some schools.

Last year, my niece was given an assignment on figures. A girl that was 4 years old then, you asked her to write 50 - 100 and you asked her to write such in a 2A exercise book. You didn't rule the pages of the 2A, you just gave it to her like that.

Except memory must have failed me, the exercise book for writing figures is 2B.
The little girl got confused at a point, the tired mother spanked her, her cries touched me so raw and I had to go look at what was causing all the noise and tears.

I saw it and I asked the mom if any teacher gave her such assignment in a 2A notebook while she was the daughter's age.

I wrote a note to the class teacher, pinned it on Emmanuella's uniform and asked that it should be delivered to the class teacher.
Anyway, the nonsense stopped for a short while.

If as a parent I send my ward to your school, you in turn now give my child any nonsense homework, then I will let you realise that I can send the Ministry of Education after you.

Some will give homework that any sane person knows that it is the parents that will eventually do it.
My parents, my elder brothers never did any of my homework for me.
Homework is meant to test if the child has a good grasp of what you imparted and also to see if your method of teaching is working.
You don't test me as a parent.

You test your pupil and you make an assessment of your own teaching skills.
What sort of nonsense assignment is this?
What concerns a pupil with Sir Shina Peters?
Is this part of the school's curriculum?

Some will ask parents to pay for excursions and the destination for such will be shoprite or Eko hotel.
Are these schools mad houses or what? And parents still send their children there?

The other day, one mushroom school in my neighbourhood at Badagry was teaching one useless rhyme... "left right left right, ikebe no dey heavy the owner, left right.." I was beyond shock.

There is an open community well right in front of the school, an uncovered well.
I wrote about it and a cousin came inbox to tell me I shouldn't expose the neighbourhood school like that..

Where do we start from?

You can as well teach your children by yourself. That's where you can start from.

i think it is not the school that print that book. The problem lies with the publisher of the book. Imaging a primary two student being taught diphtong, vowel sound and consonant sound because that was what their textbooks contains.

The blame my dear still boils down to ineffectiveness of the school, I mean why approve for such book to be used in your school when it does not correspond to your curriculum or scheme of work?

Your position as a teacher places you on a pedestal like a small god who oversees EVERYTHING in the class. If you observe that a particular text book did not .do justice to a certain topic, you may use two more books to aid your content or subject matter even if you won't make your students buy them, you could use that as teacher's copy. Teaching and learning these days have been so simplified that one is not unnecessarily tied to one crap book that is of little or no use

That must be a private school, they are just distortting the children's brain in the name of teaching, nonsensense. There are jakande schools with trained teachers, no, they won't send their children there, Carol's children are private school so my children must go to private school without knowing that carol herself is igorant. Stop wasting money, send your children to public schools where they have trained teachers.

l bet you will call the sch an Int'l sch..

my sister there must be a reason for those question...
if a kid could answer those things correctly..for me bravo....such child is expose...

are those musicians not Nigerian musicians what if your kids know them... let celebrate our own stuffs and leave the white to celebrate theirs...

to me Nigerians have this issue of inferiority complex.

wake up..
if that is a music class what wrong with the fact that your kids know all these.

in as much l appreciate what you have written...you got it wrong here

you give them questions they don't know at times to prepare them for the next class... that widened their knowledge.... cos they just have to ask to get there parents' view on that....and by the time you come for you next class you will be surprise at the information they have garnered....

so wake up my sister today's kids are quiet different from 2,3 decades ago kids..

when you are confuse you ask questions instead of coming here what stops you from going to the sch to know why, what and who....

#stopthisinferioritycomplex#

celebrate your own..

Why are u blaming the teacher? The school provided the text book , and that is what is in the curriculum , I guess the subject is music, the teacher is only using the materials provided by the school ,

Parent should make proper enquiries before they register their wards in any school, there are so many mushroom schools around that make extra-curricular activities they priorities , sadly some parents even request for such services

why not go to the sch to see their curriculum...and if you are not OK, withdraw your kids...
instead of coming to the internet to display what l called inferiority complex..

those questions l guess are to test the kids cognitive...

and you people are here blabbing blaming teachers...

there must be a reason for such questions...

please if you are not OK and can't go to the sch to ask why,who,what....that means you can do it on your own..

keep your kids at home and be the teacher..

yea you are right dear, there is nothing eye no go see for this Nigeria cus unemployment has created many potholes in some sector of the economy. So it give rooms for hungry author and hungry proprietors. 30% of those private schools, build a not to build the futureof Nigeria but as a way out from poverty and as a means of self employment, they don't mind the future of the little children they are teaching. And as for the teacher it is the school that make provision of all the textbook he is going to use. If he desist from using one they will ask him why, to which he has to give a tangible reason for his action, if they are not please with his reason, that may result in another thing . But the greatest problem lies with those hungry author and those hungry proprietors.
Mind you, am neither a teacher nor a proprietor, am a programmer, so i don't ave any connection with schools. If thats how am taught i won't be where i am today.
