1. G + C = 110 ....... (1)
G = C + 100.........(2)
From eqn 1, G = 110 - C.........(3)
Sub G in eqn 2
110 - C = C + 100
Collect like terms
C+C=110-100
2C=10
C=5

X+Y=110
X=Y+100Y

Y+100Y+Y=110
102Y=110
Y=110/102
= 1.078k

The cup costs N1.08k while the glove costs
N110-N1.078
= N108.92k or N109 appr.

2 100 minutes

3. Impossible

I think x=100y

So 100y+y=110
101y=110
y=1.089 approx N1.09k

Shinelle:

lemme try ):

Number 1.
(100c + c ) + c
101c + c
102 c
110/102
N1.08k
approximately N1

Number 2.
10 mins

reason being one machine takes 10 mins to produce one doughnut . since all machines are running simultaneously, 10 machines will at the end of 10 mins produce 10 doughnuts ie 1 per machine

in the same vein, 100 machines after 10mins (standard time ) will produce 100 doughnuts... I each.

Number 3.
from my deduction the 5 naira is for the 12 eggs
alot of comments above assumed the 3 naira to be each egg... the question says "sells them for 3naira"
didn't see "each " anywhere there...

so if he sells 20 eggs x 365 days = 7300eggs (608.3 dozens)
now at 3naira per dozen... total income = #1,825 naira.

the only way this would be possible to result into a million is if he enjoys economies of scale ie his supplier sells far lower than 5naira in the long run.!
or he's million won't come from sale of eggs alone ):
or else the currency is no longer naira but Zimbabwean dollars.... lol

Shinelle. for question 3 You just nailed it. U are very wise and smart. Most people just read question without understanding wat it says. Thats why some fail exams after bragging how sweet the exam was. Wanted to paste the analysis but you just told them the in simple word. Kudos to u. More blood to ur brain. wink

but question2 might b wrong,incomplete or ur answer cud be wrong.

check this.

The question never stated if the machines are running simultaneously. But if we check the question well using the example stated as

10 machines=10 minutes=10 doughnut, we can deduce that the machines are not working simultaneously cos if they do, the ratio will be 10 machines = 1 minute= 10 doughnut.

But one oda thing is that we don't know how long it can take a machine to produce one doughnut
hence we assume

1) if the machines are working simultaneously and the efficiency is set to 1 machines =1 minute =1 doughnut the ratio
can be 10 machines=1 minutes=10 doughnut

2) if the machines are working simultaneously and the efficiency is set to 1 machines =10 minute =1 doughnut the ratio
can be 10 machines=10 minutes=10 doughnut

3) if the machines are not working simultaneously and the efficiency is set to 1 machines =1 minute =1 doughnut the ratio
can be 10 machines=10 minutes=10 doughnut

4) if the machines are not working simultaneously and the efficiency is set to 1 machines =10 minute =1 doughnut the ratio
can be 10 machines=100 minutes=10 doughnut

from analysis above we can say that 2 and 3 are likely to be the case.Hence we will use those one to calculate the missing TIME.

5) if the machines are working simultaneously and the efficiency is set to 1 machines =10 minute =1 doughnut the ratio
can be 100 machines=10 minutes=100 doughnut

6) if the machines are not working simultaneously and the efficiency is set to 1 machines =1 minute =1 doughnut the ratio
can be 100 machines=100 minutes=100 doughnut

CONCLUSION

THE COMPANIES KNOWS BEST. BUT ONE THING FOR SURE IS THAT THE QUESTION NEEDS TO BE ADJUSTED AND IF NOT , I WILL GO WITH MY ASSUMPTION 5 AND 6

2 correct, but want to share how i processed 3.
1. Is 110/101=N1.09k

2. 20eggs/day for a year is 20x365=7300eggs
7300xN3=N21,300.00k
7300÷12=608.33dozens
608.33x5=N3,041.67k
Profit is 21300-3041.67=N18,258.33k

I would have said imposible millionaire but any number less than a billlion can be called in terms of milllions.

Here they are:

1. A glove and cup both cost 110naira. The cost of the glove is 100times more than that of the cup. How much is the cup?

2. If it takes 10 machines 10minutes to make 10doughnuts, how long will it take 100machines to make 100doughnuts?

3. A man wants to venture into business so he buys a dozen eggs for 5naira and sells them for 3naira. From his calculation, if he sells 20eggs daily, in 1year he will be a millionaire. And his calculation is correct. How is that possible?

Question 1 and 2 have been answered well.
Question 3 answer: He's a millionaire already. With or without the egg business. So even if he incurred losses, his millions will still be intact.

C=105
Therefore, d cost of glove is 5Naira while fat of cup is 105Naira; Since d question says The cost of the glove is 100times more than that of the cup
Q2,
Answer can be 10Minutes or 100Minutes, depending on d explanation (D question is not complete)
for 10minutes,
if 1 machine is responsible to produce each donut
for 100minutes,
if d donut has to go through each of the machines
Q3,
12 eggs bought @ d rate of 5naira & sold for 3naira?
Even if u sell 100 crates per day, the business will continue to record a loss of 2naira per crate. Therefore, I don't think it is possible to profit.

1. 1.1
2. 10min
3. 5/12= N0.4166667 per egg
3 - 0.4166667 = N2.5833333 profit per egg sold
2.5833333 * 20 = 51.666666 profit daily
51.666666 *365 = N18,858.333 annual profit

Going by the info given he will make approx N18,858 in a year. That's N0.019mil grin so its possible cheesy

I couldn't explain it better than this...was gonna input my solution after seeing a dude's solution using "12/5", but decided to view the thread further and noticed you'd done justice to it.

3) we don't cheat in maths. d question is certain dat he was correct. he bought #5 a douzen and sold #3 a douzen. he was doin biz at a loss.(ceteris paribus)
capital at d begining of d yr.......#1001,216
loss per douzen. #5 - #3 equals #2
loss per 20 eggs( daily loss) 20/12 * #2 equals #3.33
yearly loss. #3.33*365 days. equals...... #1,216
therefore, at d end of d yr he has 1million. (capital - loss) that is, #1001,216- #1,216 equals to a millionnaire.

12eggs = 5naira

he sales at 3naira, he makes profit of 60kobo per egg
if he sales 20ggs in day, =20* 3naira =N60 per day making a profit of 20*60kobo =12naira per day

Thanks for trying out your mathematical skills...
But note:
If 12eggs = 5naira
1egg = 5naira/12= 0.42naira and not the 2.4naira you wrote there.

3. Becoming a millionaire is not always from being poorer. You can become a millionaire after lossing money as a billionaire. So the answer is the man is currently a billionaire and will become a millionaire after incurring losses.
