itsmecoalblack: Have you ever lived in a foreign country before? Well maybe if you did, you would realize that at times its not possible to remember all the norms of the culture. You might understand it but still make some mistakes every now and then. The Nigerian guy should have looked at it from the mans point of view and be understanding; overlooking the percieved slight. Instead he decided to stoop so low and act in a highly primitive manner and that was highly uncalled for. Two wrongs dont make a right. 1 Like |

ttmacoy: But that does not excuse responding like that. A truly classy individual would overlook a small slight like that and still be helpful. |

SmartMugu: So because someone who was not born in Nigeria and probably not familiar with its norms and culture asked you for direction, you decided to stoop so low to respond in distasteful manner? Na wa for una naija people. Whatever happened to being the bigger man or taking the high road? Instead you went so low as to even curse the man! Chei! 1 Like |

Tunami: Synopsis: A Chinese person came up to you and asked you for directions, you were rude to him (onus is on you as his guest in the country by the way), you were proud of your actions and a moderator put it on the frontpage where it's getting likes. It's alright. Fast forward many years from now, some black person in China or for that matter anywhere in the world will be wondering why a certain Chinese Man did not afford him any courtesy. 2 Likes

spinna:Thanks, my thoughts exactly...I think the Nigerian was terribly rude; he should have assumed that maybe Chinese people don't greet good morning like we do... further interaction would have revealed whether the Chinese was being deliberately rude and then he can now fire |

Tunami:They dont greet just everyone even in their country, its receptionists and ushers that greet everyone, have an open mind bro, dont be petty, greeting you doesn't mean i regard you, infact i might see you as lowly as an earth worm and still greet you esp if i know u consider greeting a sign of respect.. smh |

claremont: Do you just walk up to a person and just demand an answer to your question? The Dude was definitely right in his response albeit rude also! The normal thing to do is walk up to a stranger and say " Excuse me please do you know Mr blah blah.....?" |

doveda: hello? I've been living in south east asia for 4 years yeah and i've visited other asian countries...greetings are basically for people whom you're familiar with if not they'd walk past you for the next 10 years...chinese eat with chopsticks, malays eat with their hands...that is cultural difference...Nigerians adore greetings to strangers or not the other party doesn't...so why get irate? |

Op it is not compulsory for someone to greet you.the work place is a business environment and what has carried everyone there is the business. My greeting or not greeting you is immaterial.the business should be the paramount thing |
