You're very right ma'am. These doctors have killed so many patients but we don't get to hear about it because the patients are less privileged. This particular case is going to be taken serious because the concerned person is influential.

LUTH is christened mortuary, because they use patients as specimen! All the teaching hospitals should be overhauled.

May we not have any cause to go to UCH because it takes the Grace of God to get out of the place alive.

This pathetic and something drastic need to be done about the quality of personnel in the health system!

A few days ago, I took my baby for basic treatment in the emergency ward of same UCH in Ibadan and in the bid to take blood sample, kept puncturing him with needles all over; almost 6 different parts on EACH limb with the child crying away!
When they were eventually able to get the sample, the cotton wool used to cover the wound fell down to the dirty floor and to my amazement, the DOCTOR bent over to pick it up from the hospital floor and RETURN IT TO THE WOUND SITE TO COVER THE WOUND UP AGAIN!!!!

I almost fainted from shock and would have slapped the guy silly if not that I controlled myself!

I just hate the way the average Nigerian throws jabs at medical professionals here. You don't regard them one bit, you call them crappy but you still run to them when your nose runs.



And yes, its UCH we're talking about here. The best hands and brains, the most competent medical professionals in Nigeria are there. Your minister of health is from the gynaecology department and he's not even the most senior person there.
Caveat: I don't work there but I know, my relatives have received world class healthcare there.

Doctors in most teaching hospitals are very careless about people's life, that's how the ones in UPTH nearly killed my sister and performed surgery on her for nothing because of their negligence and carelessness. those who have not tasted this experience can't understand how bad it feels. Everywhere in Nigeria there is incompetence not only in uch. It is a culture promoted and propagated by our society. We are all basically paying for it, only God can deliver us. Schools don't work, hospitals are moribund, all our social system is gone and in the government all your have is crass ineptitude. I work in construction industry and what I see often amazes me.

It's the same story with all the teaching hospitals in this country. You will say the Ibadan is the worst now until you hear another story from UUTH [University of Uyo Teaching Hospital] or any other around u. All I pray is that, Buhari should spread his wings around all the sectors of this country. People need to be accountable for their actions anywhere anytime. Too much has been swept under the carpet for too long.

What we have in Nigeria is 90% theoretical Medicine, while the practical aspect is just 10%; the converse should be the case!

She probably had intestinal perforation from a colonoscopy to screen for colorectal cancer, intestinal perforation is a recognized complication of colonoscopy and can occur ANYWHERE in the world..
instead of encouraging the government to upgrade hospitals and get better equipment (with reduced complication rates) na always the fault of doctors... sad thing is other allied health workers who should know better will also join people to bash doctors afterall.. all na professional rivalry.
Teaching hospitals are called teaching hospitals for a reason, no consultant was born with medical skills, they had to go through a learning curve of several years...
hopefully the courts will settle everything, however if the hospital is found innocent, the husband should be countersued for damages by the hospital.. qed

My biggest surprise is that someone would intentionally submit herself to any of the health techs parading themselves as doctors in Nigeria. Take a look at the hospital environment, the fear of nosocomial infections should be enough deterrent.

Ineptitude, nonchalance, corruption, and other vices have become traditions in Nigeria. Buhari may try as much as he wants, it will take generations before any semblance of sanity returns to Nigeria.

Calling UCH doctors incompetent is what I don't agree, its like you saying the whole doctor in this country are not competent. But if you say they are negligent of their duties I completely concur and that's because most of them have specialist hospital and giving more attention to their private practice.

Government should stop serving consultant from combining private and public practice.

Yours truly health sector needs massive press coverage and likewise massive overhauling.Some people need be made public examples besides quacks.Punishment that would make others sit up.Too many cover up and paddy paddy is not helpful.Our medics son dare practise like this abroad..dem no born dem well...besides the ridicule such defaulting Dr would be all over newspaper coverage.It's that tight.
