I just hate the way the average Nigerian throws jabs at medical professionals here. You don't regard them one bit, you call them crappy but you still run to them when your nose runs.



And yes, its UCH we're talking about here. The best hands and brains, the most competent medical professionals in Nigeria are there. Your minister of health is from the gynaecology department and he's not even the most senior person there.
Caveat: I don't work there but I know, my relatives have received world class healthcare there.

I had to travel down when I heard the news from my base, Uch doctors don't take life serious
Imagine, the oxygen which was passed into my dad's nose to survive has been exhausted and I was looking for doctor to come to our rescue
For almost 15,minutes I could not see the doctor
It was when time has gone she now came and begin to demonstrate as if she is serious about 5 minute later my father was gasping and I went calling this sane woman doctor to come to my dad rescue I could not see her I was looking for her during these gasping period she finally came with suction machine to insert in my father body as she want to fix it there was a need for her to cut a strip she was looking for blade from one place to another my father was still gasping these woman doctor was searching for just common blade when my dad gave up the ghost
He died in my hands.... And what the stupid woman doctor at the emergency unit could said was sorry...
I think Government need to do something about the issue.... They don't take life serious in Uch I know what am saying
Those doctor should be dealt with...
They are so ignorant, proud and fond of themselves... My father would have survived but doctor in charge was no where to be found for almost 15 minutes when my dad need urgent attention

That was how I had pity and carried one elderly hit and run victim(70+ old man)/ total stranger to that same UCH about 3 years ago. Blood soaked! The man died right inside my car while they were wasting time. Very pompous and heartless. It was an evening of nightmare for me.

May her soul Rest in perfect peace. it show show that as a nation we are no where to b found. UCH is not what we use to no before. leadership corruption and lack of care is the problem in that teaching hospital. it is time for the government to look into the activities of all governmental institution not only UCH.

What I saw in the Hospital made me to feel we need God. In every sickness pls see a true prophet of God for Divine Healing. Within two days in Hospital I saw things resulted from incompetent and negligence.

It will be better to visit a Prophet of God for healing than Hospital

Those are the ones that were mostly frustrated out of the system for challenging the status quo. Every teaching hospital in Nigeria has a mafia running it's affairs. They promote and upgrade as lickers.

That's how people go to these public hospitals with minor issues and they cause complications that leads to other things, just as in the woman's case. This would not be our portion IJN.

I really love the man courage to come on air to share this, One problem among many facing Nigeria today is that we die in silence..

This is what you get when there is an industry that is not regulated or the operator is the regulator.
Both the educational and health sector are the worst performing sectors of this country.

She probably had intestinal perforation from a colonoscopy to screen for colorectal cancer, intestinal perforation is a recognized complication of colonoscopy and can occur ANYWHERE in the world..
instead of encouraging the government to upgrade hospitals and get better equipment (with reduced complication rates) na always the fault of doctors... sad thing is other allied health workers who should know better will also join people to bash doctors afterall.. all na professional rivalry.
Teaching hospitals are called teaching hospitals for a reason, no consultant was born with medical skills, they had to go through a learning curve of several years...
hopefully the courts will settle everything, however if the hospital is found innocent, the husband should be countersued for damages by the hospital.. qed

Its just quite unfortunate, though it could have happened with any specialist.

My mother died in the same manner from d same hospital. ......when she was flown to south Africa, they told us that the case was mishandled in Nigeria. ...so they can only leave her to die...died eventually. ..this same UCH IBADAN

I wish i could afford d service of sans like this man too. The same way they erroneously carried out proceedure on my pregnant wife just 3wks ago at 1 of d govt hospital in abuja here without follow due diligence by a one man show consultant. Only for d senior consultant to tell us sorry after d deed had been done. I only thank Gnd she nd my baby are ok. Health sector in naija need serious nd urgent reform.

1. Every hospital death is the doctor's fault.

2. Nigerian doctors are incompetent.

3. Someone even asked us to name five Nigerian doctors doing well abroad. This is laughable.

4. Doctors are careless and lack passion.

5. They don't deserve any credit cos they're being paid.

Let's just say doctors are useless.

Brother, am quite enlightened about how the system works cos I lived in that same hospital a great part of my undergraduate and PG life.

The guy in question is a Medical doctor not a student; however a House Officer. But he's still a qualified doctor all the same.

God bless u. You've just echoed my thought. When u r no longer concerned about delivering quality health care but rather more interesting in intimidating, arm twisting, and bullying your other professional colleagues due to ur insecurities, inferiorities and narcissistic personality. Then the public also suffers.
The hand you use in pressing others down ends up keeping you down cos you won't have any extra hands to climb up.
