ABUJA — There will be no vacancy in the Presidency in 2019, members of the National Caucus of the All Progressives Congress, APC, declared on Tuesday night in a seeming lure to President Muhammadu Buhari to seek a second term.

The national caucus, comprising serving and former governors, the National Assembly leadership, and selected members of the national executive of the party, at the meeting said the endorsement of President Buhari for a second term would help to stabilise the polity in the face of what members described as the 16-year rot inherited from Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Meanwhile, the national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has dismissed insinuations of a threat against his position, just as the caucus, Tuesday night, constituted a committee to resolve all pending issues in the party.

One of the issues agreed on at the meeting, Vanguard learned yesterday, was that President Buhari should be given opportunity to seek a second term. Though the issue of a second term for the President was generally agreed, caucus members, however, also agreed that it would be too early in the day to kick start a second term campaign for the President.
Vanguard learned that the issue was brought up as a way of resting restiveness among some party leaders, who have been divided over their various aspirations for 2019.

The positioning by different party leaders on 2019 has been blamed for the problems that led to the crisis in the National Assembly and also the inability of the party to inaugurate its Board of Trustees, BoT, till date.

“With Buhari contesting in 2019, those who have been squabbling will now have to queue up behind him and put the interest of the party ahead,” a source privy to the development revealed yesterday.

Remarkably, leading senators in the party on Tuesday night met in Abuja where they also pledged to unify themselves in the face of the prospect of losing their influence to the more united PDP caucus.

Odigie-Oyegun dismisses threat to his office
Meanwhile, Odigie-Oyegun speaking to reporters at the end of the caucus meeting on Tuesday night dismissed reports of pressures on him to resign his office.

He said: “I am not aware that my office is under threat. I led the party to the State House. It amazes me, occasionally it annoys me. That is one of the things you have to endure when you are in a position like mine."

Noting the trend of the meeting, Odigie-Oyegun said that a committee had been constituted to resolve all the crises in the party.

Speaking on the performance of his party’s government almost one year after taking over power, the national chairman pleaded for time on the part of Nigerians. He said the government would come on full stream when the 2016 budget is passed.

Only if you play your card well, remember you've wasted a whole 1 year out of 4 years.

There is chance to repent and make things right.

God bless Nigeria

APC is nothing but a power hungry, planless, selfish and corrupt party. There literally are no plans to make things better. The only time you see them acting is when they want to board plane, rig election or STEAL by misappropriation of project and budget costs!

How can a party that has done NOTHING on the federal level have the balls to say something so stupid and arrogant?

I know how! They will spill blood, rig and force themselves on Nigeria. There will be no more free and fair federal elections!

APC will be the end of Nigeria. Party of the corrupt and the hypocrite.

Bunch of selfish veteran thieves! Talking about 2019 when their first year is eluding them.

Deliver dividend of democracy to Nigerians na problem, even to the 70% that voted for u, na wahala.

Obasanjo endorses APC moves, as party leadership visit Abeokuta
22.Dec 2013

The push by the opposition, All Progressives Congress, APC to dislodge the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP received a boost yesterday as former President Olusegun Obasanjo openly threw his weight behind the APC’s current initiatives.
The APC leadership, comprising some national leaders and governors visited him Obasanjo in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Saturday to solicit the former president’s support for the party in the forthcoming elections.
The party leaders, which started converging on Obasanjo’s Hilltop Mansion around 5:22pm, included former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the party’s Interim National Chairman, Bisi Akande; former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari; former speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Masari; former Borno State governor, Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff; Senator Osita Isunazor; Senator Bukola Saraki and Lai Mohammed.
Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State came to the former president’s house in company with the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commissioin, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode and others in a convoy of three black jeeps.
Other APC governors at the meeting included Rochas Okorocha (Imo), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Abdulfattah Ahmed (Kwara), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano) and Senator Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo).
The Chairman of the New PDP, Kawu Baraje led some of his members and the former Kaduna State Chairman, Yero Makama, to the meeting.
Presenting the party chieftains and the APC governors to Obasanjo during the opening of the meeting, Akande said the party was in support of the former president’s 18-page letter to President Goodluck Jonathan.
The APC National Leader, Tinubu who alluded to Obasanjo’s contribution to the building of the Nigerian nation, lamented that the country was divided more than ever.
Apparently referring to Obasanjo’s recent letter to Jonathan, he enjoined the former president not to shy away from speaking the truth.
Tinubu added that the APC had resolved to rescue Nigeria, appealing to Obasanjo to lead the mission.
“You’ve come out of tribulation and held the highest position in this country. We are here because of your courage. Nobody can say he has information more than you. You have surmounted a number of crises. Nigeria is divided more than before; to realise stable Nigeria, we want to encourage you to continue to speak the truth. We’re resolved and determined to rescue Nigeria. We want you as navigator,” he said.

Sai Buhari till 2023! It is sacrosanct, unnegotiable, irreclaimable and irrevocable.

Blessed are those who know this truth like David Mark, Gov Umahi, Wike, Buruji & Co for they shall not WAIL ceaselessly and senselessly but rather be patient and patriotic.

Those who knows but find it difficult to accept like Fayose, Ekweremadu, Ango Abdulaziz, ffk & Co are those who want to commit political suicide.

Then they are those who knows and will have love to replace the 'Daura burukutu sipping dullard' but realised that their votes does count like Nnamdi Kanu and his ipot zombies, they are the ones calling for secession for they discovered that their divisive tactics and cheap blackmail against PMB is not working.

Yea i get u bro but under a disciplined man, so u can see how most of them are now more careful in their dealings & actions, moreover it's not all pdp members that were corrupt, at least some knew d reasons y they were in power & acted accordingly. That's not to also say that PMB is the most righteous because none is above mistakes but we really needed this change with a disciplined hand, nevertheless power still rests in our hands & we can decide to bring in kowa if APC fails.
