Members of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria and One Idoma Initiative in a peace meeting In a quest for peace after the recent clash between the Fulani herdsmen and farmers in Agatu local government area of Benue state, the duo have resorted to play a friendly football match. At the joint press briefing of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) and the One Idoma Initiatives in Abuja, an agreement was reached by both groups that a football match a sign of peace pact between both parties be organized. While addressing the press, the national secretary of MACBAN, Othamn Ngelzarma said a peace football match should be organized between Super Eagles and a joint team of the Idoma and the Fulanis. Ngelzarma said: “The football match should be played at the National Stadium Abuja and organised in conjunction with NFF.” He added that the match should be aimed at raising awareness of the peaceful resolution of the conflict between herders and farmers in the area. Ngelzarma also said the football match will help to raise funds for the reconstruction of the properties destroyed in the recent crisis. A crisis between some Fulani herdsmen and farm owners in Agatu area led to the killing of many and destruction of properties. The crisis which occurred on Saturday, March 5 also led to the displacement of indigenes of Agatu. However, in resolving the crisis, a call for peace have been reached by both parties – the people of Agatu and the Fulani herdsmen – through the MACBAN and the One Idoma Initiative led by Paul Edeh https://www.naij.com/779864-agatu-crisis-fulani-idomas-play-football.html?source=index_main 1 Like |

After football match the terrorists get away Scot-free while Agatu people will forever live in fear of fulani terrorists alias herdsmen. Who gave Fulanis licence in this country to take laws into their hands while others can't? |

Sadly, I heard nothing about resettlement, compensation for the victims, punishment for the culprits, and ways to prevent re-occurance. |

Ojiofor: Not a word from C in C Buhari, the murders of another 1000 people legitimised via silence, on top 500 shite murdered in Kaduna. I don't even want to go into Mile 12, and Biafra Protesters here. How long has Buhari been in power? 12 months or less. Only God knows by the time is tenure ellapse, how many innocent people will needlessly perish. Do the maths? |

theDEVILisHERE:They've decided to make peace, they aren't clowns. I know this would come as a very bad news for those who desire to see the crises persist simply because they leverage on it to insult the president. It doesn't matter to them the families affected as far as they can use their misery to mock the Nigerian government. Great initiative from the peace loving people of Agatu and the troublesome cattle herders. Let there be Peace... 7 Likes |

Just look at some comments above and you'd wonder what exactly sets some supposed human beings apart from beasts... How could a mortal man with a heart and blood coursing through their veins be saddened by news about a peaceful resolution of a crisis that has left a lot of innocent people dead?? What a pity. 3 Likes 1 Share |

omenka:You know, people who think only from one direction is the most difficult to deal with. The only valid agreement that will really see the end of this kind of chaos is for those herdsmen to vacate that village, else, they will still fight someday. And if care is not taken, they will begin to lay claims of lands in that Agatu which will lead to more bloodshed. |

is the football match a good idea? what happens if the cattle rearers lose the match? I think the federal government must still investigate the killings and bring to justice everyone culpable. we can't build a just society on a foundation of impunity. |
