Dear sarj , I am Odigie Osayuwamen,i have applied for an entry clearaance to the United Kingdom to study Master at the University of East london i have also made payment of 50% tuition fee which is £4565 amounting to 1million naira to the school and still my visa was refused because the entry clerance officer faulted that my sponsors(mother) bank account was runing at a lower balance from july 2008 and in Dec 2008 a large deposit of 4million naira was made to this account so he or she is not satisfied on the balance of probability that i can pay for my course fee and living expencess. In this regards i have sent an appeal directly to the AIT via DHL which had been delivered since on monday 12th 2009 stating the origin of funds,my sponsor's company income tax clearance certificate and reciept issued to her customers and also a written statement explaining that the funds in question was gotting from my mummy's business account which she did not include with my application because it has notting directly with her business and also has right to withdraw money from her company account to her personal account to be made available for my remaining fees and living expences. Another problem is that i am starting school by february or even if i defer to september can they issue my visa when its not time for my studies as in may be like April or May when am resuming september? I await your respond to this issues. Respectfully Submitted,Odigie Osayuwamen. |

@kappadilly For the basis you were refused making a large deposit without a clear cut explantion on the origin of funds. I think the reason given is tentative and whether the appeal is granted does not alter or defer the school calendar. Most likely you will have to defer the admission by informing the school of the progress of your appeal so they can grant you another letter. |

hello every1 i have been refused a student visa based on that my sponsor doesnt have same surname with me of which i submitted an affidavit of relationship,i even had to speak with an immgration lawyer and the first question i got was if i ddi an affidavit of relationship and i said yes, i want to appeal against the decision but the immigration lawyer said she needs to write a letter of reconsideration to them.i believ i can send them a reconsideration and at the same time send my appeal but na wa ooo, these ECO i wonder for them i know of pple who have gotten visas without even using an affidavit of relationship and they used sponsors who doesnt ve same surname with them an advice pls or u can email me on omoben2ymail.com plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz can some1 respond to this. |
Re: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by vikiviko(m): 11:10am On Jan 27, 2009 |
@benefe The ECO's are inconsistent with there decisions in many occasions. I advise you adhere to your lawyer's call to write a letter of reconsideration. Best wishes |

hello good people, i just stumbled onto this forum while searching for ideas on how to go about my UK Visa appeal process. me, my wife and two young daughters recently applied for UK Tourist Visas and were refused. the reasons include that a birth certificate and family pix do not serve as enough evidence of family relationship, that my uncle in the UK who i said i would visit during my stay did not send sponsorship letter (after i had indicated that i was funding our trip and would stay in a hotel). i was given a full right appeal but my wife and children were give partial right. does it mean that if i get the ECO decision overturned, that me and my family members would get visas or does everyone need to appeal seperately? please anyone who has some good idea should let me know. you can mail me directly. i intend to send in my appeal by thursday, 5th of Feb. counting on you all |
Re: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by awoll(f): 10:33pm On Feb 02, 2009 |
@obamania hi, ok, i do not know alot about these appeals, but i think u might have to send seperate appeal filings, then if it won't be too much trouble, reapply alongside, this time, knowing u'r going to be accomodating urselves, show hotel reservations, etc, then get a sponsorship form from ur cousin to fulfill the ECO's righteousness, it doesnt state a lot, not exactly that he'll be taking care of u and ur family, more like him standing as a surety, the appeal process can be quite tiring, i'm on the waiting list, still waiting and praying for the ECO to send my appeal bundle to the AIT office in london, i'v been on it since nov last yr and it just might take another two or three months, , reapply is my advice, cuz even if u decide to appeal on each of ur cases, decisions will be taken at different times which might cause a zigzag with ur plans of travelling together, |

@awoll, thanks for response. i have decided to appeal while my family members will apply afresh. i am wondering if it better to submit to the ECM in Lagos or send to the AIT in UK. which did you do? what are the chances of the ECM overturning the decision of the ECO in 9ja? anybody with any experience, please let me know. i intend to submit my application on friday. |

@obamania hi. its a good decision you've made, send all your papers to the AIT office in the uk including those you might find helpful even though you did't submit them initially, i scanned all my documents to my sister who will be representing me there, i have read somewhere that the ECO overturns his decision sometimes or even at the end of the day, appeals against your appeal if he chop belle full, then you're back to square one!!!, it's good to have a representative you can trust, one who'd in your best interest, fight for your cause, i hear the lawyers there are quite expensive, i wish you the best, i only know so much as to the point at which i'm at now i.e waiting for the ECO here in lagos to send my appeal bundle to the AIT office after which a hearing date for my case will be fixed, i know for sure that most appeal cases are won just that it takes time(4-6months)- which discourages people but when you think about the cash used in applying each time with the ECO just writing whatever he likes at the end of the day depending on his mood is just overwhelming, that's why you're always advised to reapply while you appeal, and pray!!! keep us posted on different levels of any development u encounter oo. all the best. |

and hey, while you're at it, be sure to get a filled sponsorship form from your cousin in the uk also his payslips and bank statement, even though he won't directly be responsible for your family's welfare, i read somewhere that it's a necessity to have the sponsorship check now, check out www.ukvisas.gov.uk and www.ukvac-ng.com, i hope you will find good info you might need, even other links to sites that have help on appeal processes, etc. |

@All I would like to know how much Naija lawyers collect for fighting UK immigration cases? |
Re: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by funkybaby(f): 11:50am On Feb 10, 2009 |
Akolawole: It depends on the nature/complexity of the case. It also depends on if the naija lawyer is working in patnership with a UK based lawyer .ie. The uk based lawyer appears at the court in UK |

@Funke Your name is No 1 in my bad book and you know why. ## I am awaiting your interview with Tgirl o. ### I think we need to enlighten people on the new changes to UK immigration rules most especially those kicking off in few weeks time. Student appeal is going down the drain and probably will be the end of this thread. I need to know those cost as someone just told me that it can cost as little as #5k. |
Re: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by funkybaby(f): 4:20pm On Feb 11, 2009 |
Akolawole: Bad book ke? What have I done? Don't vent your anger on Chelsea's misfortunes on me oh Seriously now, do you still need that stuff? If yes,I will work on it latest next weekend. I promise. 5k for appeal? That should be the cost of purchasing the immigration lawyer's 'application form'. Am not really current with the new changes, maybe I will read them up later. Besides, all the 'tier this', 'tier that' is confusing jare. Which interview? LOL. Have yours first. Am eager to know how many iyawos you get |

From m point of view.i applied for a student visa and i used my dad and my uncle and here is what i used from my dad.i use 2 statement of account.all property deeds (account was less that 500k naira),shares certificate and cscs account from my uncle,i used 2 statement of account,i fixed deposit only(total was not up to 2.5m naira) i was given the Visa. What i feel is is that its beyound just statement of account.i think you need to put anything that make them belive you know this person well like passports nepa bill and any other thing relating and prove to them u not gonna run away(i feel the property and shares certificates all original did that) Never used photocopies. Best of luck to anyone who is trying to come over |
