2022 AFCON : Odion Ighalo's Presence Is A Desideratum For The Super Eagles
Hattitude

Odion Ighalo is back in the news after netting two excellent goals for his club Al-Shabab Football Club in the Saudi Arabian Premier League encounter against Al-Hazm on Sunday.

The 32-year-old forward scored in the 3rd and 87th minute to give his club their first victory of the season, four games.

Ighalo has now netted six goals for his club this season, and 16 in total since joining from Manchester United last year.

Ighalo is one of the most in-form Nigerian striker at the moment and that is the reason, Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr want him to come out of international retirement and help the team.

It's been two-and-half since he retired from the national team, but no striker has been able to produce goals consistently, except for Victor Osimhen, but he can't continue to shoulder the burden alone .

With the African Cup of Nations approaching, The Super Eagles needs another good striker, if they are to excel in Cameroon, and I strongly believe Ighalo is a better and safer option than Paul Onuachu or Terem Moffi.

Ighalo has the ability, pedigree, and the experience to deliver at the highest level. What he's doing in Saudi Arabia at the most is incredible, and NFF must stop pretending like the Super Eagles don't need him.

If Sweden can beg a 39-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimović to return to the National team, I don't see why Nigeria Football Federation shouldn't support Gernot Rohr to bring back Ighalo who is six year younger.

Ighalo still a lot to offer the Super Eagles, and the Nigeria Football Federation must do everything within their power to reunite him and Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr.

In conclusion, Ighalo and Gernot Rohr combination has produced goals, victories, World Cup ticket and African Cup of Nations bronze medal for Nigeria and they can still achieve more together.

The Super Eagles have been giving the target to win the AFCON in Cameroon, and Ighalo might just be the man to help Gernot Rohr deliver the title to Nigeria.
Rubbish

It was all about who dribbles more and who scores more goals. And mostly the one that shoots over the bar most.

Honestly I think Iwobi needs to do a serious evaluation of his career. I think his career is stagnating somewhat. At some point, we thought James, Sanata Sigurdson were the ones preventing from tying down a permanent spot on his team, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I think he should look elsewhere for regular playing time and establish himself as a master of one instead of as a Jack.

Well said sire. Odion has contributed greatly, he should enjoy his voluntary int'l retirement in peace. Young boys like Awoniyi, arguably our most in form striker in Europe right now no see space for team, na retiree Uncle Ighalo make we dey call? I am even praying for Musa too to announce his retirement too, make we dey move forward!!!

The coach of the Black Stars of Ghana has been sacked. This is the second coaching casualty of the CAF World Cup qualifiers.

Don't mind the guy. Sometime back in the thread, I used some kind of method to estimate his age at about 24.

It's not the age that matters but their wise contributions and way of reasoning. The attitude of some so called elderly people on this thread is disappointing to say the least.

Nigerians and their demeaning attitude. Must everybody be of the same age? The opinion is what matters here and not age.

I am baffled. He is one of our best wingers in Europe. Age doesn't matter anymore if you are exceptional. We need him in the super eagles. Even if he is 50 years old. I don't care as long as he gets the job done.
So if c Ronaldo was a Nigerian will we be looking at his age?

Most of their excuse is that he is old as if any of our young wingers are bette than him ,we have players in their 30s playing for their various national team

It’s to bias writing off a player after one game

Yea bro. Sometimes when u hear someone say, "I watched this and that player as a kid" doesn't mean at that point he really understood the rudiments of the game, it only shows that he enjoys what that player does with the ball. Especially MF, wingers and CF. I remembered seeing Hugo Sanchez in 86 world cup. His goals and back flips caught my attention. That was all. But did I watch him as a kid?? Yes I did. I can only put his movements and positioning into practice later in life. But did he influence my game? Of course it did. But not at the age when I watched him first.

Did Moffi talk about the different formations, game sequence etc etc? At that age all I knew was dribble, cross, nod, score.

But I'm sure you thought of this but agenda must agend

Correct, so it's safe to say moffi indeed watched them, as a Kid, the almighty question is did he understood what he was watching then?
