Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Spanish Segunda División club SD Ponferradina are in talks with Nigeria international Kelechi Nwakali over a transfer this summer.

The former Arsenal midfielder is on the look out for a new employer after his acrimonious departure from SD Huesca in April 2022, upon his return to Spain after representing Nigeria at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

SD Ponferradina's Portuguese football tactician José Manuel Gomes has identified Nwakali as a priority signing ahead of the forthcoming season and contract negotiations are going on smoothly.

The 2015 U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner was heavily linked with a switch to FC Zurich but the proposed deal has stalled as of now as a result of a change of coaching personnel at the Swiss champions.

Manager Andre Breitenreiter has been poached by German club Hoffenheim, so it is now up to the new FC Zurich coach Franco Foda to decide whether or not to continue talks with Kelechi's camp, contrary to speculations that the deal fell through because of his wage demands.

The Super Eagle is currently in the nation's capital Abuja but is expected to return to Owerri in the next few days.

Ahead of a move this summer, Nwakali has been keeping up his fitness by training with Papilo FC, owned by Arsenal legend Nwanko Kanu, and he has also been spotted working out with his former grassroots club ASJ Academy.

Apart from SD Ponferradina and FC Zurich, the former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles captain is on the wishlist of an unnamed Swiss Super League side.

There is no space for him!!
Dennis, Aowniyi, Dessers and Moffi had better stats than him last season..

Inaki is a very average player... The most amazing thing about him isn't his ability but his fitness level...
Inaki na pace merchant. Ghana would've been better off with Nketiah leading their line instead.

Man utd and Bayern Munich are considering their options. Spalletti would like to keep Victor Osimhen. Chelsea’s Armando Broja would be an option to replace him, if he were sold. But Napoli would have to change their whole way of playing

I doubt sadiq will move this window. Villarreal looked like his next destination few weeks ago but that hv been put on hold since west ham refused to pay the amount the Spanish side demanded for Danjuma which would hv used to sign sadiq

On the other side Sevilla and benfica re very interested but not ready to pay the fee almeria re demanding to allow sadiq leave. As it stands now if he is to leave he is likely stop will be Seville

The problem with Danjuma's deal isn't between both clubs though, it appears it has more to do with personal terms. Villarreal and West Ham have reportedly reached an agreement, but West Ham couldn't agree on personal terms with Danjuma hence the pause. If that can be resolved then maybe a move can still happen for Sadiq

if osimhen moves it will be to Germany(Bayern). United I doubt will splash big this summer bringing in a striker even if cr7 leaves. The plan was to go all out in getting a suitable replacement for the aging Portuguese next season of which victor is amongst those pencilled down as options

With the look of things currently he will remain in Naples

oh okay! Thought the issue was the sign on fee

Maybe danjuma is holding on for a club with bigger pedigree

Ha coach for where...the local coach is one of many young men who just love the game without any support but are reaping it now in a positive way.If you know Ilorin stadium very well, the land mass is massive so you are free to have your own field if you can cut the tall grass and start your own mini academy.....I know many players who made it through this local academy, one was Ola Daniel who used Ghanian passport to travel to Italy and signed for Lazio,my own brother too went to Italy and signed for Venezia through Churchill Oliseh.D ele Aiyenigba was a product,Emma Olisadebe too. These are pure local teams with players funding it through stipends gathered from money for school lunch, honestly it was fun then but i was told such local academy still exists and agents still patronizing them by registered the players discovered with reputable academy for easy access to Europe.

Taiwo na giver o and he didn't forget his root especially Agbo Oba area in Ilorin. He came from a struggling family but his Dad a prison officer really did well sending his children to school and if Taiwo did not opted for football he would have be a university of Ilorin graduate by now...He is doing well for Ilorin based retired players and funny enough Awoniyi was not able to watch these retirees when they are active cos he was not born or a kid during their playing era......oh his local team! I was told the coach in the interview is enjoying fruit of his labour on Awoniyi.
