Athletics News flash

And just as I wished yesterday, it has happened @bolded

Tobi Amusan EASILY shattered the old and set a new Commonwealth Games 100m hurdles Record of 12.30secs with a headwind speed reading of 0.2m/s this time.

Now, She's World Champion, Commonwealth Champion x2, African Champion (multiples), Nigerian Champion (multiples), World Record Holder, African Record Holder and Nigerian Record Holder.

The Greatest to ever do it. Naija's Flash of the Tracks over the hurdles.

I wish she can be drafted into the women 100m relay team if she is up for it.. We need that medal ehn..

Yeah, was thinking the same thing. She was actually named on the team as one of the 6 available but the quartet of Joy Udo Gabriel, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma and Anchor leg technician, Grace Nwokocha have this special synergy already so I don't think changes will be made for the Final.

Joy Udo Gabriel has fantastic potentials, she just isn't a finisher. She is always ahead of her peers 60m into the race but loses steam significantly the last 40m. If she can get someone to help her finish strong then she's one to look out for

Yes, you are right... I trust in time she will be much better but now Tobi Amusan replaces Joy Udo for the Final of the 4x100m women.

The fact that he take corners for Porto is wuitr encouraging... We need more players on set piece duty for their clubs..it will help them improve... Simon and Etebo shouldn't be the only ones...

Have mixed feelings about this though.

First I am very skeptical about Udodi. He's always had issues with baton exchange. Though he's obviously faster than the Ogunlewe and was able to execute during the Nigerian trials, I really do hope he brings his A game today.

Tobi Amusan has always been a part of the team so no surprises really, but would have wanted Joy to finish what we started. We broke the African record with her in it at the world championship and have done very well since the commonwealth games began, so skeptical about fixing something that isn't broken. We'll see though, everything unravels on less than an hour

Speaking of Etebo, it appears he isn't wanted at stoke City any longer... Wasn't named in their matchday squad over the weekend...
It was said from the onset that the move to Stoke City was ill advised...
I hope he gets a better club soon...

Please never again should you keep Nwakali and Aribo in the same sentence. Nwakali's only talent is in creative passing. Other than that, he cannot play at a high level beacause he does not keep up with the pace. He is not just hadworking enough, gets lost on the pitch, loses his man, makes poor tackles.

If you think talent only is what is needed in the premier league then you're mistaken.
Nwakali must be the only one with such wonderful skills in the entire football world that is still playing division 2 football.

Even Isaac Success with all his struggles could still land at Udinese but the shackles of Alcocorn, Huesca and Ponferrofina is still holding quality skillset back after rejecting Zurich.

Very yes. Nwakali and Aribo shouldn't be in the same sentence as far as the midfield is concerned.

Aribo is the very definition of a player who doesn't keep up with the pace or flow of a game, sorry to say this, you honestly think that covering every blade of the grass on the pitch is being in sync with the game. And you talk of getting lost in games and Aribo is not on top of your list.

Place the same Aribo closer to the 18 yard and you will see a maestro. Aribo is direct, he is good with dribbles, he has eyes for final balls and has a good shooting technique. Quote me as i tell you that Aribo has the potential of becoming world class if deployed correctly.

Regarding Nwakali, i don't think his problems are what you just mentioned. Nwakali might be one of those lads whose brilliances are an obstacle to their progress. But we need his quality in Super Eagles. And i pray he matures faster to live up to expectations.

All the coaches in all the clubs he played and worked with him day in day out also failed to see this abi? Your statement is just based on nostalgia and sentiments.

The emphasis is on his quality, not on the ability to work with his coaches. If you think the quality is not there, then you need to look again.

Better he remains with Almeria... IMO, I don't think Sadiq need to move yet... He needs at least one season of football in a proper top 5 league like La Liga to develop his game...
