We can field an entirely new team for the most part. But I think the handlers are using this game to test a few options while treating the game as highly competitive match. In other words, not experimenting. Yes we do need friendlies to see if the new names in midfield, will really bring that creativity we are lacking.

Nwakali still has a point to prove although I believe he could be that spark in midfield we need. Yusuf on the other hand, I don’t know what’s going on with his coach. He is hardly starting lately.

Nwamazi8:

Which fighting are the likes of Yusuf and Nwakali not doing right compared to Aribo and Ndidi? Yusuf is almost a regular for the Belgian champions Antwerp,Nwakali has been consistently playing well in Portugal...what other fighting can they fight? abi make dem use armored tank before they earn a call up?

I like how my question remains unanswered about a flat midfield completely devoid of creativity.

Nothing wrong with testing our forward options. Our attack is still a work in progress. We need to utilize the international window well and address our midfield problems. Even if Nwakali and Yusuf comes today and perform well against São Tomé, many will say it was a weak team. Let’s organize quality friendly and test those boys.

chrisooblog:
To be fair we have a major tournament coming up in 5 months time with only two international windows including this one we're entering available to assess players. So experimentation will be limited except in areas we have a pressing need. Admittedly midfield is a pressing need that needs addressing so Yusuf and Nwakali if they they keep playing consistently will I think get eventually invited if not for the qualifiers at least for the final afcon camp.

I think that's part of the reasons Spalletti left. At the beginning of the season, many of his players like Kim Min-Jae, Kvara and Rrahmani weren't really known to Italian teams and their playing styles came as surprises.

Towards the end of the season, Spalletti and his guys got found out big time and he was struggling to win games.

He knew that if he stayed behind, Italian teams for show am shege this season. Na why Baba quietly Japa with his honour intact.

Now, instead of Laurentiis to sign quality players to beef up the team, he decided to save money and hope for another miracle this season with the same set of players that have been studied and re-studied by Italian teams.

Make we dey watch na.
ok hope you are joking cause your story is hilarious 😂

List of invited players. No Musa or Shehu.
Zaidu Sanusi and Alex Iwobi are also missing

NFF may have removed the clause on inviting 3 home based players if not Orban and Boniface may not be in the team
My two major concerns are that midfield and GK. Why not invite Chiamaka Nnadozie grin

maybe because he was appointed the chan eagles coach. I was also surprised to see just one home based player in the team.

4 midfield invite is hilarious to me too. Aribo should have been left out and one of Alhassan or anyone else should have been invited to test run a new midfield pair as you said. The u20 boys too. I hope they do this fast. We can't be dragging feet with this when almost 5 to 9 spots may be available for new guys after Afcon.

I was overjoyed to have Ademola Lookman join the Eagles because I felt he was gonna be a VicMo reborn, but it is unfortunate this guy has done literally nothing to prove he is worthy of being included in the roaster all the time. He's got to start showing up, otherwise I would rather an invite is extended to Nathan the son of Tella over him.

And also hope he, Tella performs when invited.

As Kog45 said few days ago, form in the national teams matters more than that of club football.

L’Équipe reveals the final email sent by Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis to Al-Hilal about Osimhen 😳⛔️

“For €200m, you can only buy Victor’s feet… maybe. Next year I guess you’ll be ready to offer €500m and maybe we will consider your bid. Again, maybe”.

SCORENigeria can exclusively report today that Alhassan Yusuf was on his way to Serie A club Hellas Verona in this transfer window but for a rejection of their eight Million Euros bid by Belgian champions Antwerp.

“Verona tabled an Eight Million Euros bid for Alhassan,” a top source informed SCORENigeria

“It was for an initial loan with obligation to buy, but Antwerp put a few road blocks in the negotiations and in the end they rejected it.”

Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon as well as Chelsea nursery club in Ligue 1 Strasbourg were also interested in signing the hard working midfield general.

The midfielder joined Antwerp two seasons ago from Swedish club IFK Goteborg for a bargain 1.5 Million Euros.

Last season, he won the league and cup double with Antwerp.

This season, he will feature in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League after the Belgian champions came through the qualifiers.

The transfer window in Belgium will close Wednesday.
