I tell you. We shockingly got knocked out in the last AFCON and missed the last WC for this same reason.

We might get to pay for our extremely weak Goalkeeper department yet again in this AFCON, and even the WC qualifiers.

I am pretty sure that there are decent GKs in our NPL.
There was 90mins plus added time to score a goal the Eagles couldn't.
Blame the GK all want, but this Nigerian team have found it difficult to score goals against any semi decent side who put up a fight.
Ghana, Tunisia, Guinea Bissau etc .
Same story...
If the team was scoring 2-3+ goals every game and conceding in equal amounts then you can look to your defensive and GK department.
But these lots are losing 1- 0 and barely created decent chances in these games.

2023 AFCON DRAW

GROUP A

Ivory Coast (Host)
Nigeria
Equitorial Guinea
Guinea Bissau

We will not qualify from this group. Best point tally we will get is 3 point. Strikers don’t win games, only a team does. As it stands we don’t have a team. We just have few players that turn up once in a while. Tunisian found us out in the last tournament by clipping our wings … we are now so predictable. In a serious tournament like Afcon most of the teams know how we will play already.

Mature for where? In between the sticks for SE?
See there are some players that are not cut out to be SE material. Onuachu is one such player. Henry Onyekuru, Anthony Nwakaeme etc are not SE material. No matter their exploits, they are some players who do not have SE DNA. Oga Kog45 and Icon4s, as long time watchers of the SE, you can bear witness to this phenomenon.

There's this knowing you'd have as a fan that so and so player fits and so and so player doesn't fit. In spite of the rave about Onuachu, I never took to him because I he didn't click for me. I feel the same thing with respect to Maduka. Him no be am. Even if we give him 100 opportunities, he'd flop and cause us losses. I might be wrong oo but I really don't think Maduka would be a good SE goalkeeper.

There was a time i had such feelings about Maduka, but it has changed.

Henry Onyekuru, Paul Onuachu, Anthony Nwakaeme are all S.E materials, but something very vital is lacking in their growth trajectory and it has nothing to do with talent.

grin
You totally nailed it. I can't even remember the last time the Super Eagles won an international friendly match away from home grin. They are still very far from Afcon trophy grip.

Awwwwn... You recall his "Daniel Bryan" celebration from the U17s. I wonder why he never carried that celebration to senior level. Would have been an instant trademark of his like Mbappe's folded arms and CR7's Suiii.

Nerdie which one be awwwn now? 🌚🌚

Maybe na Pep kill the Celebration for body that year🤣🤣🤣🤣

That's true. It's a wrap for us.

I think we shouldn't bother going for AFCON. What do you think?

I'm not against sounding out these players but they should never be asked more than once.

Those of you who wanna twerk for these boys to repp us should go read the story of this super talent called Baddredine Bouanani of Algeria who is only 18 but dumped French U19 national team to repp the Algerian senior team. He is the definition of "proudly being Algerian by heart and soul" not all these pretense my boy Komekn comes here to talk about Anglo-Nigerian kids being Nigerian to the bone marrow but yet we ain't got nothing to show for it.

You all said Saka loved Nigeria and was ready to die for the flag, at the end what happened? Look at the other otule at Crystal Palace that went on shouting that he was from Mbaise, what happened when the time came for him to show up?

Omo to me, concentrate on the boys born down here, and if you must sound out those euro born boys, do it only once.

You make true points. I also have my fears because of Jpes. But I wouldn't be this totally pessimistic. There are other elements at play.

Let us firstly see how Peseiro sets up today against Saudi Arabia's Green Falcons and against Mozambique on the 16th. Then and only then can we now assess where this team is truly headed ahead of the Afcon.

The mask is now a trademark and Napoli fans see it as fashion, forgotten that it is protective mask….I don’t know but it seems Osimhen love wearing it during match matches.

I don't trust any online website to stream Nigeria's game. They might add the fixture there, but when the time comes they'll display something else or cut off the stream.
The only reason they'll stream this game live without any distortions is because of the opponent which is Saudi Arabia. Cwazy lots.
