Mujtahida:It's hard to believe that anyone who watched the beauty of football will cheer the mechanical football they play now in the name of "intensity and speed". The Lord rebuke the rugby! 2 Likes 1 Share |

Marjoribanks:These are the kind of people who will destroy Michelangelo's masterpieces or the Benin artefacts without compunction. They will look at the Mona Lisa and say to hell, burn it. A Brazilian guy on X basically said the bolded albeit with national teams. He said teams like Brazil, Italy, France, Netherlands, Portugal, Argentina had better players than today. But no, today's football is intense therefore you are wrong. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Mujtahida: Make your point. All those answer questions is a joke. If you have a point make it and give me a source to back it up. I make series of points without asking any one questions. |

TheGoodJoe:You do know that Thiago's point about "the opportunity to turn" is actually about his (and many other) coaches instructions to the classical minded players denying them opportunity to do their stuff. But I know it doesn't fit your talk |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:18pm On Apr 14 |
Odunayaw: Thiago clearly stated no space to turn. This is not about instruction but intensity. |

Mujtahida: The question does not have any logic to me. Make your point or you guys can't make point. Your points are fantasies without source in anyway. |

Mujtahida: This shows your lack of understanding of football. With intensity and speed, you can outperform a player with more elegant qualities. That was how the gap in football got bridge and why we see little poets today. The poets of the past were playing against unfit players with less speed and intensity. For you to ask the question above means you need to educate yourself more on the advancement of the game. |

Arteta's Arsenal has made tremendous progress and shown champions stuff at times but games like today are reasons why Pep's Man City remains the best team in England. When it absolutely matters, Man City somehow know how to get the job done. But Arsenal had that one chance today after Liverpool faltered but they buckled. With Man City on top now with the top 3 having played the same number of games now.... it will take only a Miracle to see them slip up now. Pep's Machines are gonna be English Champs again most likely. To be honest, I think Arteta's Arsenal will stand a chance to truly dominate England if Pep leaves Man City coz damn it man, it is difficult and almost impossible keeping up with a Man City under Pep Guardiola. 1 Like |

Naija: Back to Back Euro Top 5 league Champs Last season, Nigeria had Victor Osimhen conquering a Top 5 Euro league by emerging Serie A Champion. This season, Nigeria have two in Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella emerging as Bundesliga Champs in the same season that Bayern strengthened with a Harry Kane up top for them. It's the Nigerian Champions show in Europe's Top 5 leagues back to back. Who will it be next season from Africa's most valuable national team? 11 Likes 3 Shares |

Odunayaw:Interview of Thiago Alcantara How is football different from when you started? It’s taken up a different pace, rhythm: more accelerated, more physical. The figure of the No 10 has almost disappeared. We see less magic, less fantasy. Footballers do more but faster. There’s no need to dribble because you run. Players are more developed in every sense. You lose that player who’s different, who ‘breathes’; the playmaker who was slower even if he had sublime technique doesn’t get the opportunity to turn. Those of us who are not so fast with our legs have to be faster in our heads. It’s like anything in life: adaptation. Things keep moving. Football changes constantly, expressed differently. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jun/29/thiago-alcantara-spain-world-cup-interview

See Alonso's last line of defense. They force you to play football majorly in your own half of hhe field. No wonder they don't concede too much. They also press immediately they lose the ball and recover quickly. Pure genius! 2 Likes

TheGoodJoe:Quick and intense is not a value I cherish if it leads to the loss of the artistic. I simply don't care about it. It is to the eternal genius of Maradona that despite his flaws, none of your superman athletes can stand in his shadows just only Messi and Ronaldo out of the army of runners we have now. Enoughpull: Nice post. That is why I find it funny when people say tiki Taka is boring. This high line is one of the biggest advancement of the game. The defenders today are comfortable with the ball like midfielders. This is something I enjoy watching repeatedly with Manchester City too. I hope we see more tactical advancement in Xabi Alonso's career. 1 Like |
