Looks good, but can Etebo and Mikel switch positions?

My worries too. Is etebo creative enough to play a number 8 role?

I would have been more comfortable with him on the wings. But thatll be too much risk. There's little evidence he can function effectively as a wing back

Another starting line-up, this time by OGN

Uzoho
Omeruo
Ekong
Balogun
Victor Moses
Brian Idowu
Ndidi
Etebo
Mikel
Musa
Iheanacho

This OGN sometimes get infos correctly and that is the reason I still read their articles.

Nah..... we ain't playing 2 false 9s Sir, in fact we ain't playing any false 9 at all; rather two Strikers Upfront.

He meant to say 2 non-natural strikers.

I don't get it. We are playing 2 false 9s in today's Game?
Well, pros being that the Nordic defenders would not have a man to mark, could be genius if it works. Would be comedy central if it doesn't.
We are going curve ball in this game. Interesting.
No we ain't. False nine deals with tactics and not personality.

Iheanacho is a trained Striker who can also play as a supporting Striker. Musa started his Career as a Striker. He played as a Striker for CSKA Moscow during his loan Spell last Season - hence we ain't playing with non-natural Strikers.

Musa is a striker, he plays the striking role for cska Moscow and Nacho is also a striker

Etebo plays like Modric, track ball, bomb forward, shoot, dribble, track back again.

If he can't play as the link between attack and defence, which other person in the team can?

It is not about being harsh with Ighalo. It is about the simple fact that a better and more clinical forward sits on the bench for this same poor Ighalo. Finito. If there was no one better, I won't be having this discussion honestly speaking Marvellous speaking. I just want us to win. Goals and the movements that can cause such goals upfront is what we badly need. Not just hold-up plays. Hold up play with no movement is dead just as faith without works is dead.

Also, Nacho only struggled in one or two game as a lone striker. That is it. Ighalo has struggled in several more. Iheanacho always has a better chance of nicking a goal or creating one compared to Ighalo. That is just the fact and truth.

On Aguero, I have given you an answer. Aguero has a goal compared to Ighalo. Hr scored against that tough Icelandic defence. He was poor against Croatia just as Ighalo was poor. Maybe Ighalo can be said to have fared a little better against same Croatia sef but bottomline, Aguero has a goal.

As for what would have happened. All I can say it that we saw Nacho after he came on. We saw his movements and instant impact (ofcos some of you will wanna play it down saying "ehen naa, the Croatian defence were tiring bla bla bla.. Mbanu. Let us be honest. We know Nacho for his intelligent movements too apart from his other attributes. After all, when Kayode came in against Senegal and created that goal chance that helped Nacho win a penalty, we endorsed it as a fine cameo. We didn't say the Senegalese defence was tired).

Iheanacho is a better all round threat than Ighalo. This is the honest truth. And for the good of this team, we need our most effective and best results-oriented to stand a better chance or to make our changes jump from good to better.

U say u are not being harsh but u are calling the player poor. That is not fair because the player was not poor. U are not the only one who thinks Nacho is a great player but let us put the interest of the nation before anything else. Everyone else is saying we need 2 strikers so why are u so hell bent on benching Ighalo for Iheanacho when we are talking about starting both?

Are you sure? Because Musa with this set up could attack from the left wing or aid Idowu double team on that side while Iheanacho could do same with Moses on the right.
If they don't do this, we will be playing with no movement on the wings because the wing backs will be crowded out by Island.
This is why it looks to me like 2 false 9s.
You get the picture?

I thought when Nacho was called poor against South Africa it was okay naa wasn't it? So why can't I also term Ighalo's poor. Like I said, this is not being harsh. It is about the better player.

I am not hell bent on just benching Ighalo for Nacho maybe because I prefer Nacho. Nope. I already said I will only manage him better in a two striker set-up. But again, I make the point that Nacho being our most lethal forward must start ahead of Ighalo if Simy's height is brought into the equation. Ighalo is way too less potent for the SE. His GWG stats show it. So this is not about Nacho but rather for the best of this team. We need our best. Remember I also said even if Ighalo starts today, I will root for him to score because all I bloody want is the team to win. I won't and will never wish he fails to deliver just to prove a point on why he must be benched even in a lone striker set-up. I want a win and this is why I speak on the better option. I speak in the best interest of the team. Nacho is simply better upfront.

Can we play both Nacho and Ighalo upfront? Yes we can depending on the opposition. But the problem still lies with Ighalo's ineffectiveness in front of goal for us. For Iceland, I hope for the very best. Simy may even be needed at some point, just in case.

It is not an opinion but fact. Nigeria was the best in Africa between 1994-1996. Cameroon was the best in Africa between 2000-2003. Same with Egypt between 2006-2010 even without the WC showing.

You don't even rate the AFCON... So why should you be taken seriously on labelling Africa's best? cheesy Laughable honestly... Loolll Abeg I no wan laugh too much... wink

Chief...
2006-2010 was Ivory Coast ooo. Who rated Egypt For where ?? When Didier Drogba and his terror squad was doing things ? Actually I did not want to intrude on your Rated best arguement but Ghana sef was rated higher than Egypt during the end of that period. Or can you give us the name of 2 people in that Egypt squad of that period that more than 3 people on this thread will recognize without a google search ??
