Ighalo would chop bench if Mou was our coach. There is no other explanation for this simple fact. Yakubu wasn't this poor.

Yakubu scored plenty goals for Nigeria. Ighalo is not on the same level yet.

I hope Ighalo and Iheancho get among the goals in the next match, we need confident strikers going into the second round.

The Argentine team is filled with idiots. Work that they could not work, they want to reap fruits. Na so life be?

Heaven helps those who help themselves. If Argentina wanted to qualify so badly, they should have done the work by beating Croatia or Iceland. They wobbled and fumbled their way through qualifiers, but na for this group stage dem dey end. You cannot shine on another person's hard work.

That small luck they used to qualify at the last minute has fizzled out

For me without a shadow of doubt and or hesitation Ighalo is the first name on the sheet against Argentina for the No.9 slot.

Think of the fact that Ighalo only scored 1 goal in all the games he played for us, I'm talking Qualifiers, Friendlies and World Cup games combined.

Ighalo is a physical style striker, he's not known for his pace and finesse, that's why he was so effective for us in our games against the physical Cameroonians. And for all those saying Ighalo played better than Ihenacho in the match against Iceland, that's because when he came on we were already up 2 goals and their defense was already opened up making it easier for him to maneuver, yet he still missed a wide open goal.

Let's not underrate the Argentines though. They're alot like Nigeria. One day they are losing to Venezuela and the next they're flogging a top 5 team 3-0.

Plus this last game between Nigeria and Argentina seems like a fairytale story for Messi to win and progress further on in the tournament. We must play our very best football.

I am surprised some people in this thread are still clamoring for ighalo to be included in the starting line up. Those peeps don't wish the super eagles well. As for yesterday's match it's obvious coach rohr hearkened to the advice of Nigerians as regards player selection and formation. Eagles rule.

maybe that was Argentina of four years ago. The Argentina of recent times has not flogged any Top 10 team sef, the only team they have flogged is the Haiti team

We just saw the second most entertaining game of this WC thus far. The Europeans sure have it in them.

Now even South Korea can still qualify and Mexico can crash out!

South Korea win

You then have 3 teams with 3 points

oga against argentina etebo will better utilized in the middles because of his energetic and robust style of play. why are we so obssesed with this "#10" thing? we need to chock the argies in the middle and hit them on the counter. iheanacho will be the link between the midfield and the attack as he did against iceland

We need a lot if energy in midfield. So Etebo should be in the midfield.

And Etebo has played against Messi in La liga (las palmas vs Barcelona), he ended up being the most fouled in that match so he should start.
eterisan:
Iwobi doesn't have the lungs to run, tackle, track and mark for even 70 mins. He will leave lots of spaces that will be exploited. We need Etebo against Argentina to mark Messi, along with Ndidi and Mikel... Àbí you nor see wety Iceland do am.

We do not have enough creativity in midfield to overrun Argentina just like Croatia.

Leave the midfield as e de, na beg I de beg u.

So we even used 2 forwards here yet people are telling us Ighalo hasn't been scoring cos he's been playing alone? Why didnt he score in this game?

realpoacher:

I guess you are the only one who don't know that we started Shehu and Aina as wing backs against Argentina right?..... Before Idowu and Ebuehi replaced them in the second half

Even right on here when the team list was released, it came with a 3-5-2 formation

Secondly we started Czechs match with a 3-5-2 formation

Our work isn't finished. Lets just ignore that for now and worry about putting in the right formations and tactics for the Argentines on Tuesday so that we can cement our spot in the round of 16.

of course, that's the most important thing to do now

I say we switch Balogun with Ebuehi against the Argentines. In the 4-2 friendly, Balogun was having trouble keeping up with their pace which resulted in a goal but when we put in Ebuehi, Di Maria was ineffective.

If Korea gets that 3points you called only it means Germany will also get only 3points. Sweden are on 3points, what if Mexico beats Sweden? It means all of Germany, Korea and Sweden will end up on 3points.Goals difference will come to play here.

Korea are very much in the race.

And yes in this group, a team with 6points can crash out. As all 3 of Mexico, Sweden and Germany can end up with 6points. Mexico who won their first 2 games may eventually crash out.
