Balogun saving us again

Balogun is playing as if he has kicked d ball every minute during dis season,no sign of loss of form

Meanwhile for d nacho fans, iheanacho might not nick it for d final 23man list if things doesn't change for him @ his club

Except if rohr want to do d normal 9ja mentality of "na so we dey do am" and sacrifice eida osimhen or Paul onauchu cool

Very few chances in this game. Basically the battle of the defences.

Onuachu, man of the match..

Balogun deserves accolades.

Balogun easily the star of the second half. Some top of the range defending from him, solid and reliable

Good game all through.

The stand-out players for me were

Onuachu
Balogun
Onyekuru

Ezenwa, a worthy mention. He had his moments of the usual, careless showboating, but came up with some top drawer saves.

The defense overall was good but it looked worrisome towards the last 20mins of the game

The defence only came into scrutiny in the last 20 minutes

I think most people will agree with you on that.

Defensively, he seems lost under pressure

Nice of Rohr to give Ndifreke Udo and Uti their debut caps

This maybe the only cap they ever get in their lives grin

My highlight of the game was Ezenwa's double save
That riffle of a short with a one hand stop and a rebound save highly commendable
He has proven himself over time but the local league player status hasn't done his ambition any good
Good game he had in the second half
Akpeyi wasn't really tested in the first though

Shehu is by trade a defensive midfielder and that is where he features in his club weekly. I doubt if you can get the best of Ngolo Kante or Matic at RB as they are defensive midfielders. Before we let Shehu go I would think he should be allowed to compete for a spot in the midfield where we are even currently thin.

I used to like Shehu during the WCQ because of his work rate, but mehn..this is the limit! his time as a make shift RB is up!! Rohr should please return him to the midfield and try out another player there to give Aina competition if Ebuehi doesn't make it back soon...

Shehu's inability to support the attack means that any winger playing on that flank will have extra work to do...against teams with equally deadly wingers like ours(eg Zaha,Mane) he would struggle! the fact that he hardly crosses is another problem!

Agreed without reservation.. Shehu should have been drafted back to midfield after the WCQ....

I don't seem to understand Rohr...during the pre world cup friendly,Shehu proved that he could no longer cope with the RB role especially against non African teams yet Rohr went ahead to start him against Croatia...
If he could drop Idowu for Collins then I don't see why he shouldn't drop Shehu! Aina is currently in form..and if he isn't satisfied with Aina he should try Moses Odubanjo....

Ekong was the one getting turned inside out, go watch the match again. Henry and Shehu did a good job on their flank. If Henry wants to keep playing he better maintain that intensity, there is nothing like getting worked too much, this is a wingers primary job.

If you noticed Collins wasn't exactly bombing forward so you should know this it was by design that the fullbacks kept possession.

I don't have a problem with trying someone else but let us put some respect on that young man's name. His assist got us to the world cup so what you have said is a fallacy. Calling him a liability makes me question your judgment of football players.

[s] Onuachu with a strike to remember. I remember a certain Earthquake2 concluding the young man is a waste, who has flattered to deceive. Utter balderdash. Onuachu has played with confidence throughout the first half as was evident in that top draw finish. And confidence remains a necessary ingredient needed in a striker going forward. While he's not De Lima reincarnated, if he can keep it this way or take it up a notch, even better.

Some of us need to learn what to look out for in every department of the game, we draw very silly conclusions here sometimes. [/s]
