But this team ... Naaaah... Bad work from manu, forget story..

The under 17 I watch without stress, they have use corruption to spoil the fun... You can see the pressure on the lads, the "I must blow, na me must score make scout see me" on their faces they are not enjoying their football... 2013/2015 set enjoyed their football

Nigeria were better than Australia. We were just unlucky and profligate in front of goal. We have ballers up front mehn... Except for that Olusegun who is getting even more frustrating than Bamgboye was at 2015.

Also the refereeing was rubbish for several parts.

Olawale impressed me real good. He makes decisions upfront better than Olusegun. I wish Ubani gets fit and gets into his strides for the KOs so that we can see an Olawale and Ubani upfront alongside Said. With Amoo behind them.


In finality, this scenario reminds me of 2015. In fact, I was just saying De ja vu after the final whistle.

This same thing played out in 2015 with many bashing Amuneke's team for losing 2-1 to Croatia. Behold that team went all the way.

This Nigerian team has what it takes to go all the way. I know the defence is suspect but they can get better.

This was a dead rubber fixture. If we badly needed it, I have no doubt we would have clawed our way back like we did in the first two games.

No team work, no cohesion, no game plan. They keep running in different directions all the time. It seems Garba Manu doesn't talk to them in the dressing room. because they always come back to play the same pattern after all the huffing and puffing aimlessly.

Calling for Ajagun who was miles ahead of Etebor, Nwakalis and some players called underservingly is being objective and not prejudice.

Calling for Kayode as at the time he was doing well ahead of some players is justifiable and objective.

It is only an ethnocentric person that will see it as tribal sentiment.

If I may ask, why are you crying for the inclusion of SE and SS players into this current U17?

Your stereotyping mentality believes there comes the better players, right?

I actually thought they played better at the African U17 championship. What went wrong ? Or , maybe they are still trying to adjust.

Poor organisation, poor passes and bad decisions are what I saw.

However, Amoo is really a good player. Olawale seems to be more matured and talented.

The Australian number 7 is very good. He is one to watch out for.

The goalkeeper Oluwabusola of Bournemouth had a fine game. He is impressive.

The CB pair had their high and low moments. First Hammond skinned them both before Oluwabusola came to their rescue with a fine one vs one save... Next Oluwabusola stepped up again after Aussies #21 dazzled his way into the box leaving three players on the ground... Lol

But in all, Ikenna and Ibrahim tried. They have played three games now at this WC together. I expect improvements in some aspects of their communication by the KO stage.

The Quadri Edun lad who played LB today is left footed and can use his right too. He was decent but nothing spectacular.

Adeniyi is decent. Joins the attack well and defends enough. Lad is a fine prospect.


Samson Tijani was influential in the first half but his influence kinda waned in the second. He did leave two Australians looking lost as he produced a beautiful piece of leg work to escape his markers and his shooting can be a lot better if he works on them in training. He can score missiles but so far it just hasn't clicked.
Still one of the genuine talents of this team who I tip to have a fine future in the beautiful game.

Ojediran is a workaholic... And should have raised his head for that big chance he squandered in the second half. Immediately he threw that chance away, the Aussies scored from a controversial penalty from their next attack.

Ibrahim Said was industrious but didn't get into his groove today. He will be influential in the KOs if he brings his A game again.

Olakunle Olusegun.... All power, all pace and full of running but he is trying too bloody hard and making lots of silly mistakes which is costing the team big time upfront. The less said about him, the better but I hope his talents come good at just the right time to erase all the frustrations he is causing Nigerians and his team. He even hit the post after a fine move, don't forget but again that sums the frustrations up.

Peter Olawale.... I already knew of his talents having researched his background a bit. But I understand the WC is a different ball game so I was eager to see him play on this stage. I had my eyes on him closely all game and he didn't disappoint. A few rough edges to his game.. But lad is technically gifted, fast, strong, makes the right decisions in the final third and is cool finisher. Peter is the tallest striker we have in Brazil and I hope Garba utilises him more to give us a bigger edge going forward.


Akinkunmi Amoo.... If this guy wants to take on a whole defence with his back against the wall, my people, he can!!! He did it today against Australia in the dying mins just trying to create something outta nothing. He is Messi like and really a big talent.
In the first half though, his finishing left him looking lost as he squandered an easy one on one after intercepting a pass from an Australian defender. Amoo had two powerful left footed strikes palmed away by the Aussie goalie and he created the goal Olawale scored. He is a magician but needs the team to play through him much more to get the beastly best out of him.

He did go missing for some mins of the game, but on the overall, this Amoo lad is the truth. Watch out for him in the Round of 16.


Divine came on and showed fine touches but he didn't bring that physical presence Olawale commands.

Jabaar is a baller and did create some moments of fine ola turning that Australian Fullback inside out on the run but it amounted to nothing in the end. He can be decisive on his day but today it was not to be.



In all, I see this team going far if we can be clinical and concede less going forward. This team has some really fine footballers I must say...

If we go as far as the semis... Then we are reaching the final.

This team is good and even the Aussies were scared in those final mins... Kudos to them, but the better team lost today.

Australia's Iwobi, Watts and their #7 Hammond really impressed no doubt but Amoo is the real dynamite who I feel still has something to show the world in Brazil. And I hope the next round affords the lad the opportunity to dig deep and unleash his inner beast. If you saw his last minute mazy run as he cut through and across the Australian backline like a knife through bread, you will understand.

Second round, here we come... This may just be 2015 's De ja vu.

Although not officially confirmed yet, but I can tell you confidently that they will be in the round of 16. Same way Croatia did in 2015.
