.....so that's why it is important to curtail another Yussuf. Kapeesh?

AntiWailer:
El Rufai should engage stakeholders properly.

As much as I support the bill, the sensitivity of religion can not make it look like another ordinary bill.

If this bill was in place when Yussuf started his Boko Haram teaching before it became a deadly Movement, things will not get out of hands like this.

I prefer the mature way the Catholic Bishop is going about it not a Pastor screaming dieeeeeeeeee as if we will not all die eventually.

Instead of the brainwahsed congregation to ask for time line so we will start tracking. They were busy screaming prophet has spoken.

By Caleb Ayansina (Abuja) & Olayinka Latona (Lagos) ABUJA –

THE Catholic Church, has sent a strong warning to Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai over the move to enact a religious bill to prohibit preaching of religious sermons in the state.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja, the Director of Caritas International, a department under the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), Rev. Fr. Evaristus Bassey said the peoples’ will is sovereign and must be respected, noting that the bill had enormous potential abuses, therefore, it should not become law, because it would be misused against one religion by ambitious state officials.

Fr. Bassey said: “The danger in Nigeria is the manipulation of structures and institutions by strong individuals. Thus, the fear is that even if the proposed bill contains good aims, the proposed restrictions would play into the hands of officials of state who have a hegemonic mentality and would allow them the freedom to persecute one religion in favour of another.

“The principle of separation of state and Church/Mosque which springs from the supposed secularity of the Nigerian constitution would be severely battered if this bill is pursued in the way it is. Gov. el Rufai, who is quite dogged in the pursuit of anything, given this tool, would pursue ardently both what is good and what may be divisive. We therefore advise that Kaduna State rely on existing laws and existing state instruments of law enforcement, to maintain religious harmony in the state instead of reinventing the wheel.

“The majority of Kaduna people appear not to want this law, and their wishes should be respected, as no governor is an emperor but an elected official who should defer to the people’s will. The people’s will is sovereign; because of the potential abuses this bill could bring when it becomes law, we opine that it is not necessary.

” On the last National Conference, the Catholic Church called on President Muhammadu Buhari to revisit the report and institute measures which should stand Nigeria on the pillar of justice and peace, arguing that “Niger-ian citizens should continue to engage political and state structures to become institutions which are guided by the rule of law.

“Presently, our constitution is like a hermaphrodite, neither completely secular nor religious. A secular constitution guarantees the rights and dignity of all under the law,” the Church said.

In a similar development, the Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins also frowned at the legislation, arguing that the Nigerian Constitution makes pro-vision for freedom of worship.

Speaking during a Chrism Mass at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos, Martins stressed that any law that will restrict freedom of worship, should certainly not see the light of the day.

“I hope the governor will seriously listen to what the people are saying because democracy is about the people and the good of the people. There may be good intentions behind the law but it is important that in making laws for the people, the laws can only be effective and just if the people have an input.”

Calling on government to take the welfare of Nigerians more seriously by enacting policies that will benefit the general populace, Martins lamented that Nigerians are facing numerous challenges which, according to him, is very worrisome.

“The government should take the welfare of the people more seriously; there is a lot of suffering, poverty, pro-blems among the people. Government should put in place policies that will indeed help ordinary citizens feel a sense of belonging in the nation,” the archbishop appealed.

Religious bill NOT Christians bill.
I think its fare if extended to all religion. I dont know why people like to cry and complain for everything. Im cool with it as long as it applies to Muslims and other religions.

Nigerians abuse religion. The way Nigerians play their religion is totally different from how others do it.

Interfering in religious practice is tantamount to abusing the constitutional right of freedom of association and religion.

"38. (1) Every person shall be entitled to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, including freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom (either alone or in community with others, and in public or in private) to manifest and propagate his religion or belief in worship, teaching, practice and observance".

Calm down. Noise is an integral part of every car, and there's no way a car won't make noise. But noise is not an integral part of religion, and religion can be perfectly practised without necessarily making noise.

Or you want to tell me you MUST make noise to worship your God?

The majority of what don't want the bill? I didn't know the Catholic church conducted a survey to come to this conclusion. It even sounds silly to claim powerful individuals can hijack the implementation like in Nigeria courts don't exist to seem redress. The sad thing is this people pretend to know and love secularity yet when a bill that will regulate religious behavior in line with secularism they kick really hard. Till this moment no one has refuted the bill provision by provision rather same sound bites with little contents.

Oga, have you witnessed religious riot in your entire life. Hundreds are killed within minutes over mere speculations or hearsay. its best to avoid what might promote religious intolerance or taken advantage of by hardliners.

Rufai...go on with your work because DOMINO REVERAD's kingdom (the kingdom of wisdom and not noise) is coming to stay.

Pls both Christians and Muslims, Atheists and
Agnostics should get a copy of the 'holy bible'
because you will need to see this. Pls open
the book of Daniel 12: 4-13.

The quotations below is from the book of 1st
Job 3: 1-24 (not the bible Job) which is in the DOCTRINE OF
THE UFOs www.nairaland.com/2938907/
doctrine-ufos

Chapter Three

1. Knoliud appeared to Job in the valley of the
shadow of death and said, Job, the true
worshipper of Reverad, the greatest user of
meditation.
2. Welcome to these valley called the shadow
of death.
3. Then Job began to see all his wrong
conceptions about his world.
4. And Job saw the benefit of using the brain.
And he saw the world where he left that it was
now filled with great mansions.
5. And Job knew that the works were made by
people who used their brains critically.
6. Now Job perfectly understood why he was
the richest man in his own time. This was
because he used his brain to generate wealth
by meditating and getting to an altered state
of consciousness, which involved no noise,
contrary to what Satan (Jehovah) had taught.
7. Job also discovered many cures to the
diseases caused by the tiny creatures of
Chaleb.
8. He discovered that no follower of Satan can
cure any disease of the world through their
noises, but the only thing they could do is to
make use of the illusional skills taught them
by their father called Satan.
9. Now Job saw that without the doctrine of
Jehovah the devil, the world would exist and
be better, but without the people who used
strong meditation, the world would remain like
when the big band first came without
inventions.
10. Again, he saw that all who had invented
all the great things of the world practised
meditation and not noise-making, which they
called prayer to Jehovah or Allah, the devil
himself who created evil.
11. Again, Job saw that Jehovah was only
clever but not wise.
12. And all his followers in the next world
were not wise also, because they were
forewarned by Belteshazzar, who was also
called Daniel, that Jehovah (Satan) shall shift
from one abomination to the other.
13. For the first abomination would be the
offering of daily sacrifice which would be
cancelled by the second abomination that
would be set up by Yeshua, who is also called
Faulkin and Jesus (to the world to come).
10. This second abomination is what shall be
called "the Lord's supper", which is the
drinking of the blood of Jesus Christ and
eating of his flesh to damnation in the hell
fire of Jehovah.
11. For it is this thing that shall brainwash
them and make them serve in the churches
where even all their pastors are criminals.
12. Now this is where the foolishness of the
worshippers of Jehovah shall be made known.
Their pastors and prophets shall do the
homos no good, but shall make themselves
rich.
13. Yet the richest people and the inventors of
the world shall not be worshippers of
Jehovah, but the users of meditation.
14. And the churches of Jehovah shall depend
on these inventors for the magnification of
their voices and the transmission of their
images and the training of their voices and
the functioning of their gadgets and the light
of their sanctuaries and the fashion of their
sanctuary and the construction of their
sanctuaries and everything, but the inventors
shall not need anything from these pastors
and prophets to survive.
15. Then when sicknesses shall strike the
pastors and the rich people of the churches,
they shall fly them to the continents of those
who use meditation to lay the foundation to
the cure to sicknesses, but when the poor
members of the churches shall be sick, they
shall run from pillar to post, from churches to
churches for cure.
16. And they shall die in their sicknesses and
diseases.
17. Now one thing that Jehovah is good at is
the art of piracy and fraud. This did he do to
make everyone think that Daniel was his
servant by mutilating the scroll of Daniel and
rewriting his history to make it seem that
Daniel was his servant.
18. But the wise shall understand that Daniel
was not the servant of Jehovah, because it
was Eartum that is the spirit of God that first
moved upon the face of the water of the earth
at the beginning of the creation of the first
world. And it was Eartum who also stood
upon the waters of the river with his hands
raised to the first heaven and swore by God
that this prophecy shall be kept unheard until
this time.
19. Did Eartum not sware by God with his
hands raised to heaven? Yet Jehovah, the
devil, in his cleverness came to establish
through Jesus, that no one should sware by
God with the intention of covering up this
prophecy given by Daniel.
20. That is the work of Jehovah, the greatest
book piracy of all time, who had changed
many things in the scroll of Daniel before the
time Eartum said that it would be made
known to the world.
19. Now this is the method that Jehovah
taught in praying to him. He said, through his
son Jesus, shut your windows and your doors
in praying to me.
19. But how did Daniel make his request
known to the giver of the brain, called
Reverad? He opened his windows to allow air
into his head.
20. In this shall you know that Daniel is not a
servant of Jehovah, the devil.
21. Now, did Daniel not hear that the
beginning of the reign of Domino Reverad
shall wait until a time and times and half a
time when he shall have accomplished to
scatter the power of the holy people?
22. Now, tell me, who are the 'holy people' so
called? They are the servants of Moses, Jesus
and Mohammed who have made the greatest
bloodshed ever under the pretence of serving
God. But no, it is the devil called Jehovah or
Satan or Yahweh or Allah they had been
serving.
23. Now this is the beginning of the scattering
of the powers of these 'holy people'.
24. Now let him that has uunderstanding
come to the way of Reverad, the true God who
made the big bang and the intelligent souls in
it who had not sold their souls to the devil by
the drinking of the blood of Jesus the son of
YHWH and by the eating of his flesh, or by
the calling of SAW "sallallahu alayhi wa
salaam" the language of Satan whose seat is
right in the Arabians.

Interfering in religious practice is tantamount to abusing the constitutional right of freedom of association and religion.

"38. Littering bills and posters across the city, sound pollution, training militants by muslim clerics etc is not a constitutional right of freedom of association and religion.

Unauthorized preaching in the bus by Christians and muslims especially is annoying and denying the occupants of the bus constitutional right to live in peace and liberty.

Im a christian, dont let religious sentiment to over shadow constitution. Like the muslims take religion ahead of constitution.

If you ever CARE of constitutional right of freedom of association and religion. WHY PASTORS DESTROYING SHRINE AND INDIGENOUS PLACE OF WORSHIP THAT HAS BEEN IN EXISTENCE FOR CENTURIES BEFORE CHRISTIANITY CAME TO AFRICA?

The bolded discouraged me from reading further, how can "regulate" be translated to mean "prohibit" ?

This is how seeds of discord and misunderstanding are sown.

Here is clarification on the issue:

https://www.nairaland.com/3022349/kaduna-preaching-bill-resolving-constitutional#44296814

On second thought, how come the church "prohibits" others from practicing their traditional religious beliefs, destroying shrines and all that?

In Nigeria we av right to thought, conscience, religion and so many others in both private and public. pastor Suleiman the G.O of O.f.m view days ago, in his words of cursing, of casting spells on someone he call herod of kaduna (governor el-rufai), he also interpret what public religion mean, he z " public means u can put ur speaker anywia" do u agree with dat? if you do, I don't, do we av d right of disturbing others during mid-nigth and day time by putting giant speakers in and out of d worshipping place? neighboring people are suffering from dis kind of act. will God not answer our prayers in silent? I know very well dat God almighty will not happy with dis act of worshiping. I urge everybody engaged in any act of public disturbance and air pollution to go and make redress and desist from that behavior. may God Almighty separate us from evil did. Amen

El Rufai should carry go and pass on the Bill. We have freedom of worship but not freedom to disturb others. Enough is enough, enough of religious craziness, no Mosque/Church should be allowed to use speaker again and the religious hawking should also be stopped. A good Muslim must be time conscious to observe Salat and same as a good Christian. We must stop disturbing our society all the name of religion.
Law and order are good for society but not all of them can be good. If people are raising issue about the bill, the gov should address them. Afterall, there are other problems to solve in Kaduna.
