My point exactly. . .Arsenal started going for youth alone, and thats when their troubles started. getting rid of the tried, tested and true, and not replacing them with the same. (I'm sure Vieira wasn't gettin paid peanuts) The changes were too sudden. it could have been a gradual thing. He has too much faith in his kids and it flopped. that just the truth of the matter, Like I said I support Arsenal in the EPL and I wish them well. I'm not one of these anti-arsenl crusaders. . .I'm just stating my honest opinion.

What happens is very simple – Arsene will sell a player when he feels he is able to replace that player and strengthen his side in other areas with the proceeds. He has done that numerous times with Anelka, Overmars, Petit, Silvinho and others.

Bendtner, Song, Denilson, Senderos, Djourou? If u think those are "reinforcements" that ADD to the quality, strength, and character of a great team like Arsenal then I guess I can't change ur mind. The players that left are not on the same level as their replacements. At least not in my opinion.

Players have always left Arsenal and Arsene has rebuilt and won trophies – people can question what has happened in the past 4 seasons and the questions are legitimate, but any analysis ignoring the 7 seasons prior to this barren spell will be incomplete.

The thing is that in the 7 seasons u speak of Arsenal was not a team of kids. They had top players. . .players of the highest quality. Big strong, fast, hard headed. the whole 9. that how u win championships. Not by having a bunch of talented kids getting bullied all over the place.

I don't know the details about the wages. I'll be lying if I said i did. All I know is that Arsenal players leave for money. . . It is a competitive market and if u want to keep top players you have to pay what the market dictates. that is just the nature of the beast. there are other teams that are serious about winning and they do not mind paying.

haha. I'm not changing my argument. We were discussing Kolo's comments about leadership and that's when I made the comment about Fabregas. I wasn't talking about results. I don't anlyse football like that. I know sometimes teams play well and don't get results, and sometimes they play badly and get results. its not just as simple as that. And besides, Arsenal also had Ade and Walcott injured for a lil while, so Fabregas wasn't the only reason. Putting it all on him isn't an honest assessment of the situation IMO.

OK, I don't know if this is good or bad news but i seems like we will be losing two more centre backs in form of Messrs Senderos and Silvestre. As for Phillipe, it seems the deal is done and dusted. He has moved to Everton. Apparently, Everton is preparing for life after Lescott as the England international will be moving to , yup, u guessed right, Manchester City.

For Silvestre, its still uncertain. His is supposed to be a tradeoff with the Chamakh guy from Bordeaux. Bordeaux is asking Wenger to either increase the offer for Chamakh or add Silvestre to the deal. Let's see what happens.

If we eventually lose both CBs, we will have gone from 7 CBs as stated by AW 2 weeks back to 4 CBs. Gallas, Djorou, Song and Verm with Gallas and Verm as starting CBs and Djorou and Song as backups.

Obviously Mark Hughes isn't as dumb as we would like him to be. The guys signings appear deliberate and systematic. He's already weakened Villa and Everton. I wouldn't be suprised if Tim Cahill joins them next. May even even Spud's Jenas.
Notice i didn't mention any of the big four, reason's cos the good honey'll always attract good flies. On the other Moyes and Oneill are going so have a hell of a time attracting replacements. undecided

I think we've sold enough of our players already,isn't it time we did some quality buying.
Before Debosky will start rationalising that we can't buy for lack of funds,pray tell,if we didn't sell any players this summer,would we have crumbled under the weight of our debt?

the answer is NO, and with the sales we've made so far,can we totally liquidate our debts

?? the answer again is NO.
It follows therefore that it wouldn't hurt to use part of the proceeds from the sales of Ade,Toure and Senderos to strenghten the midfield and defence at least.

Serious clubs cant stand failures only unambitious clubs like assanal would stay with a trophyless coach for that long.

Their trophy room is full of cobwebs. Plans are underway to turn the trophy room to a public toilet in order to make it more useful.

The Gunners are apparently set to replace one African attacker with another,

According to The Sun, Arsenal are closing in on an £8 million deal for Salomon Kalou, the Chelsea forward.

The Ivorian has been linked on and off with a move to the Emirates since January, and the tabloid claims that Arsene Wenger has already had a £6m bid rejected.

Despite a promising pre-season under Carlo Ancelotti - following a good finish to last term with Guud Hiddink - there are still question marks regarding Kalou's long-term prospects at Stamford Bridge.

The arrival of Yuri Zhirkov, the revival of Florent Malouda and the impending return to fitness of Joe Cole could see the young ex-Feyenoord star relegated to the outer once more.

Thus, Arsenal are supposedly prepared to sign Kalou on a five-year contract with wages of £60,000 per week - roughly twice what he presently earns at Chelsea.

There is no word from either club on this matter as yet, although the player himself admitted earlier this year that he was a big fan of Wenger's management style.
