Am sure some of us know people that will blame somebody else for everything and anything negative that happens to them as opposed to taking responsibility for their actions. If their marriage breaks down, oh it's the husband/ wife's family; they never liked them in the first place. Then bitterness seeps in and they refuse to own up or take any responsibility for their lives being messed up as they become a nightmare to be around since everything has a negative connotation or outcome. Use to have this acquaintance who came for advice and once we evaluated the pros and cons and recommended the best cause of action, they’ll go ahead and do the exact opposite and then come back to blame whoever recommended the solution. The funny thing was they didn’t mind telling you what they did in step order, but always felt somebody else was to blame as when they cane faced with the situation, they were too angry to execute the original plan so changed it. How do you handle a person like that? Why do we get so angry to the point where we cannot control our emotions, thus allowing it to affect and changes our course of action hence changing our life plans? Ruth 1:20.
Prayer
Father I refuse to let my emotions control my actions, I need you to help me put a stop to all my uncontrollable outbursts so I can stop being my own enemy and creating obstacles for myself, Holy Spirit transform me so I can have self-control in Jesus name, amen.

We sometimes relate to people based on their past character even when we hear of their reform or change, we still approach cautiously. A friend said the other day that someone they used to know called and tried to poke the bear and as far as she was concerned she kept it in check, there were a few times she tried reverting back for a split second just to deal with the crap been dished out, but the Holy Spirit literally held her tongue, so she politely told the caller on no uncertain terms, heck no on the issue. Only for them to turn round and say I don't know why another mutual friend said you have changed as you haven't and you call yourself a Christian. Am sure some of us have been told that because we decide to take a stand on something we believe in as opposed to doing it the worldly way, but what people fail to realise is that Jesus did not come to save the prime and proper; he came to save the sinners. Matthew 22:2-10. That is why when the king sent his servants to call the invited guests over and they refused to come, he changed the guest list and invited people on the street. So who is to say an ex-convict cannot enter the kingdom of God once they accept Christ?
Prayer
Father I am not perfect, otherwise there wouldn’t have been any need to send your son Jesus Christ to offer salvation. So since I am work-in-progress, continue to give me your grace to deal with the earthly issues I encounter on a daily basis and your mercy on the ones I cannot handle currently in Jesus name, amen.

We all want to serve and please God so desperately that we start to do things that veer off the right path and we sometimes end up serving other people in church or affiliations based on worldly doctrines. When the bible says fight the good fight and finish the race 2 Timothy 4:7, we have to be diligent and constantly checking that we are on the right track and doing the right thing based on what the bible says and not what somebody else has interpreted the bible to mean. If after you receive the grace of God and your walk gets diverted because you are serving another, then you are on your own as come the pearly gates, everybody will get the same treatment as the entry criteria does not make allowances for those that know what the words says, as opposed to those who obey it Matthew 20:1-16. So where a man of God says it is ok to do something contrary to the word as they have direct links to God, it's a case of you have get God’s number and call him directly. The workers in this scripture are treated equally as they all agreed to work for the same amount regardless of when they started the work, so long as they did the work well. So are you serving in the wrong way? Check to ensure the services you put in is not going against what pleases God.
Prayer
Holy Spirit continue to guide and direct me on how to stay on the right track, help me to see where there are issues in my services to you as I refuse to compromise on my relationship with you, so bring anything that is not right out in the open for me to change in Jesus name, amen

Moses kind of took a while to figure himself out didn’t he? Exodus 4:10 Everywhere he went it was one thing or the other, he kept moving around like the nomadic person that he turned out to be, plus he had anger, speech and temper amongst other things. What challenges are you running away from as you keep moving around to avoid a confrontation? What stage of your life are you at that you haven't been able to figure out your assignment or purpose? When some of us realise where God took us from; be it a successful, healthy and affluent career and lifestyle to what we now have, especially when the journey through it turned out to be very turbulent. We have to give thanks as he brings us into a new season that will make even our enemies praise God before they realise what they have done. Moses did not ever imagine being in that position when he first killed the Egyptian, Exodus 2:12; but he went with the flow and ended up being who he turned out to be. When God shuts one door on you, he expects you to go through another to start discovering you purpose in life. So when God wants you to change because it fit with his will, he can do it in a government shake up, just for you to get on track, so look out for your change of season as they can be subtle or dramatic – that’s how God works.
Prayer
Father you hold me in the palm of your hand, so use me as a living sacrifice and make me who you want me to be according to your will. While you transform me, give me understanding and wisdom to discover my purpose and assignment so I can boldly fulfil your will in Jesus name, amen.

During our trials and dark moments we tend to get carried away and offer everything from ourselves, children, works, acts and even those we don't have permission to offer to Christ as an agreement for him to answer our prayers 2 Kings 11:17. When God takes us up on our offer and it’s time to pay back, we start to renegotiate the terms and conditions. We didn't do that when we were desperate, but now that we are comfortable, we have the nerve to ask God all that? Isn't that too much? Can I pay half of what was promised or give service instead? God loves us that is why he blesses us, but after he has showed us how much he loves us, we can't even love him back and do what we promised. If we really love God, we wouldn't be asking every month how much percentage is tithes? Be reminded to go to church or give what we originally promised him during our darkest hour; we would gladly do it. So why do we back slide when we are comfortable, why do we conveniently forget? When we thought God forgot, we nagged him until he gave it to us. We need to review all our promises/ agreement to God as they might be the reasons why things are being delayed in our lives, and if we made any, do it as God did not force you to come into an agreement with him and ask for forgiveness while at it.
Prayer
Holy Spirit where I have made a covenant with God and have not fulfilled it or partially fulfilled it, forgive me as I come back now to honour my commitment and where I have forgotten please remind me so I can fulfil it in Jesus name, amen.

Had an encounter with a guy that specialises in cleaning your petrol tank out when you put in the wrong type of fuel - I refuse to say why we met. We got talking about a lot of things especially his personal life and just before we parted he told me how he couldn't stand Christian, because of the way they go about the religion. This got me thinking how do we so-called believers portray Christ to the outside world? What will people say when asked about our relationship with God? As this forms an impression on nonbelievers who are desperately looking for salvation, but don't know how to go about it. So I told him to just do God and not religion as he needs to form a relationship with God as opposed to getting tangled up in the drama of religion. He was shocked as he didn't know he had a choice to have a relationship with God outside of religion as it was clear he was searching for something, but didn't know how to go about it. My prayer is for him is to be bold enough to start a relationship with God so he can have a fulfilled life. 2 Corinthians 3:18 As believers we need to be conscious of how we reflect Christ in our lives as this can affect an unbelievable impression on the kind of God we serve.
Prayer
Holy Spirit help me to reflect Christ in the best way that is attractive so it can draw others to you through contact with me. Let my circumstances not dampen my mood or attitude as you give me the peace and joy to know that everything is under control in Jesus name, Amen.

Sometimes we wonder why we still struggle with things as believers, why there hasn't been a shift in the situation we are asking God to handle or how it came about in the first place? Sometimes we have to accept that God wants to put us through a test of faith and he lets the enemy go through us, while other times it's down to sin and bad habits and the devil has the legal rights to get permission from God so he can go through us Job 1:6-12. When the devil makes a hole in the protective hedge God puts around us, we have to know that once we become believers we have to spring clean ourselves spiritually as whatever the devil was doing through that hole before, needs to be cleaned out with the blood of Jesus Christ. It's a case of us identifying the major sin openers that started the journey in the first instance and as usual we can't remember. So let's just do a major clear out regardless and start evacuating all associated evil spirits and demons out of our lives so our transformation can progress quickly.
Prayer
Holy Spirit as my helper and counsellor you know where I need to make changes and what is stopping me from achieving that, so remove everything that is not right in me that the enemy has placed in my life preventing you from taking total control of my spirit, body and soul in Jesus name, amen.

Sometimes we look at events around us and think it's just life and we'll get over it or it'll pass. We fail to realise that when God made us he set a plan for us and any deviation is from our own doing by giving the devil the legal right to access our lives or through a test of faith. Matthew13:27-30 So when the servant asked his master where does this new problem come from again? The master is aware of the things of the spirit and says it's the enemy as they will always look for an opportunity to mess up the plan God made for you. You'll probably think how the heck did that slip through? An acquaintance having some difficulty spoke to their friend who offered help immediately and the acquaintance knowing the help was available, said they'll ask when it’s really needed. By the time it was needed the friend became reluctant, but eventually agreed. The shocker was that after the friend had done the favour, the enemy still would not let go as they then put governmental officials to try to block it, but the acquaintance was quick to catch on and went to report to God the Father, who sorted it ASAP. We have to be fervent in prayers otherwise the enemy will see an opening to use against us.
Prayer
Father I thank you that your arm is not too short that it cannot reach the deepest of all pits or highest mountain top. Thank you that all I have to do is bring it to you and be still while you do what you do best in Jesus name, Amen.

Re: Daily Devotional by Ministerinmakin: 11:21am On Aug 31, 2016
When they bible says God does not lie and we look at our situation and nothing is changing. Numbers 23:19 We start to wonder, who is telling the truth here as what you are looking at is different from what God said. We need to look at what we are doing or how we are living our lives as God cannot lie. So trying to understand this concept means whatever God say, comes to pass as his word does not go and come back empty, Isaiah 55:11; as it is bound to accomplish what it’s meant to do. So if you thought yourself as not achieving, full of sin, diseased and in lack then when God speaks into your life and says you are righteous, victorious, prosperous, whole and forgiven; God's words must accomplish what he said, as it changes the before situation into the what God says it should be situation. It's like God seeing something black and saying it is white and because he is God, it is bound to turn into white. So since God cannot lie and he has spoken things into our lives, why isn't it coming to pass? We need to check our sins, bad habits and commitment and ask the Holy Spirit to do his work in us.
Prayer
Holy Spirit I cannot be who God wants me to be if I still have my old way of thinking and looking at myself, help me see myself as God wants me to be and keep me focused there as I sometimes let unbelief, betrayal and other past experiences affect my mental state, so take over my thought process too in Jesus name, Amen.

How do we view the words in the bible? Do we look at it from our own perspective and how it suit us and our situation? Although some of us want to accept it, but where we don't agree with some of the scriptures we disagree and say it does not apply to us or it’s too old fashion and does not apply to us in this modern day. Proverbs 3:5; James 1:20; Some of us use that as excuses to do what we like and say that's all old testament and the new testament says something different. This is common with people that term themselves as new testament Christian or who refuse to change their way or turn from sin and one of their argument is that the ten commandments does not feature in the new testament and the laws are not applicable, but Jesus himself said all the laws and the prophets hang on the two commandments he mentioned in Matthew 22:40, so if we are going to take what we like and leave the rest, we ought to write our own book, but wait - a few other people already did and some are called new age religion or thereabouts as religion is now like a pair of shoes, depending on how you like it, colour, your budget and if it fits well.
Prayer
Father help me to accept your words regardless of my own take on it as your word is everlasting and true. So Holy Spirit teach me the meaning of the scripture where I don’t have any understanding in the simplest form so I can begin to apply it to my life and everything about me in Jesus name, amen.

Some of us try to figure God out, why he did certain things or why he hasn't answered specific prayers. We need to stop and realised that he owes us nothing, no answers, no comments as he is in heaven and does whatever pleases him, but it'll be nice to ask though. Psalms 115:3. I went through a period of asking, how the heck did I get here, why I didn't see it coming, what I did to whomever, when was it ever going to end? Why, why, why? So when I didn't hear anything back I moved on and trust me, that was quick as I got bored from not hearing back. So I introduced myself properly to the bible, not just reading only the Psalms like before; as I had already argued with someone that Deuteronomy and Ecclesiastes did not exist in the bible as I couldn't even spell them then. We need to know how to serve and please him by understanding what we need to do through his words. Let us know that God is so magnificent that there are no words to fully describe him, so we have to be grateful that he even acknowledges us in the first instance, let alone allows us to come into his presence to register our list of requests. So stop trying to figure God out and try to figure how to please him better with your life and actions.
Prayer
Father thank you for knowing me, thank you for being my God, for helping me understand how to come to you and how to serve you better in Jesus name, amen.

When we are under pressure and are faced with making life changing decisions that we don't think will impact beyond our lives, we can be quick at doing or agreeing to all sorts so long as it suits our condition at that point in time not realising that our children and generations to come will be impacted. So we lose our sense of reasoning due to our desperate state, regardless of who it will impact down the line. What type of issues are we in that warrants a single handed decision making process without consulting the most High God who already knows who our decisions will impact generations to come? Numbers 14:18 Quite a lot of us are still reeling from the decisions made by people we don't even know in the name of ancestors and quite a few would like to show them in no uncertain terms what their then clever decisions has done in our lives now and how we are not at all pleased. Generational ties go as far as four generations, but can also do a restart depending on who fuels it in between. When we look at our children, generations or potential heirs, do we want to subject them to negative repercussions because of our current desperate situation?
Prayer
Father if there are any generational curses that has been put on my earthly family due to any reasons, I overturn them and cancel them in Jesus Mighty name. I am now under the kingdom of God, this means my family is under the full protection of the Almighty God, amen

An acquaintance going on a trip caught a flight and as soon as the plane taxied down the runway he started to feel uneasy and this increased so bad that he started to shake, because he couldn't stop the plane, he started praying. At the last minute just before takeoff, the plane stopped and the pilot got off the runway where they waited for about 40 minutes. Then he announced that the plane was returning back to the gates as the emergency landing lights were faulty. Although they ended up waiting for hours to have it resolved, nobody complained especially him as he just kept thanking God. Not being presumptuous, but who is to say what could have happened, especially with him feeling the way he did. Thank God he was able to quickly get into the spirit and pray when he needed to. Are we using our gifts of the Holy Spirit? Are we able to catch on quick enough to go into prayer mode, when the Holy Spirit groans within us? Romans 8:26-27.
Prayer
Holy Spirit thank you for interceding on my behalf and enabling me to go into prayer mode when and where necessary, it can only be through your power and the grace of God, so I give you all honour and glory in Jesus name, amen.

Went to a farm once on a very hot day and saw a squirrel lying flat, arms and legs all spread out on the floor under the shade exhausted from the heat, with an “am not in the mood” kind of look. We found it very funny, but it was a really hot day so we couldn't even laugh for long. Have you ever been in a situation where everything was just too hot to manage, too much to endure as you have waited too long and now feel like throwing in the towel as you don't know what else to do? I'll let you in on a very public secret - so has a lot of people too, so you are not the first neither will you be the last as it’s called life. John 16:7; The most important thing to note is, this life comes with a reliable helper, but we have to accept and invite him into our situation. People use this term life is crazy, but wouldn't it be great if we have someone who understands the craziness of life on our side, protecting and directing us on how to manoeuver through it all? Well Jesus Christ does and he already sent the Holy Spirit who is waiting for you to partner with him on your personal journey.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to be my helper, teacher and counsellor so I can manoeuver this life with a better and well planned out direction in Jesus name, amen.

Was speaking to a friend the other day on how we give the enemy more information than we actually intended and how they then use it against us as they come in different camouflages pretending to be on our side; 2 Corinthians 2:11. It’s a case of who can we bring into our confidence or trust zone? When we tell people every plan we have and wonder why we have problems achieving them or they turn out to be a struggle trying to even visualise them, we have to wonder who else is listening or playing around with our plans? We expose our inner thoughts and plans by speaking it out loud and since the enemy does not know your innermost thoughts like God does he has to wait for you to reveal it through various utterance. When we speak negatively or speak to agents of the devil who pass the information back to him, this is then used to limit our progress. Sometimes we discern immediately when this happens, other times we have no clue so we cannot call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to intercede and overturn or mitigate for us, so we lose out. We have to be aware that the devil is not capable of hearing our thoughts, which is why he puts mobile trackers out to constantly listen out and then he throws all sorts at us hoping it'll stick. What are we saying to the wrong people or what are we uttering about ourselves that needs to change? We need to be guarded on who to confide in and trust as we also need the spirit of discernment to know who to reveal these ideas to, if that’s necessary.
Prayer
Holy Spirit teach me to stay alert where I do not know how, show me clearly who the fake people are around me so I am more guarded in what and who I reveal information to; Lord reveal them to me beyond reasonable doubt in Jesus name, amen.

It's amazing how we take things for granted in life, the air we breathe, plants, food we eat and how they come about, especially we non -vegetarian. The fact that things can be planted and replenished is one of life's biggest wonder, but yet a lot of us view it as our rights and privilege, thus deserving of it. So why should we be marveled at God's handiwork? I was like that until I saw one of God’s amazing natural creations as a cave and I started to view God's handiwork with renewed amazement, although you read the bible, hear testimonies and even give our own testimonies. Seeing the cave and nature at its natural finest was overwhelmingly spectacular and I praised God and said no matter how hard I might see my situation play out in front of me, no matter how dire the enemy would like to make me think my circumstances are. If God can gave the cave such perfect finishing, I am buckling up and readjusting myself and attitude for my perfect life with Christ as he definitely isn't going to mess up with my life as he didn't with that cave; Psalm 57:5.
Prayer
Father I thank you for your amazing creations, I thank you for giving me the ability to see your creation, to marvel and enjoy your creation, which you made especially for me and my enjoyment all because you love me and want the best for me. Holy Spirit teach me to be more appreciative and not take your works for granted in Jesus name, amen.

Is God partial, does he have favourites? When we look at King David, Abraham, Apostle Paul and the highly favoured people, it's worth asking that question, weird as it may sound. So when God rescues us from what should have been a fatal incident and we come to the realisation of what he did and still wonder what our purpose here on earth is? It's worth knowing that God was partial and showed favouritism to us. God chose you as he specifically picked you out as opposed to everybody else that ended up in the grave; Psalm 33:12. So know that you are not a mistake and he has plans for you, all you need to do is find out what they are as he has been watching over you all this while. So make all efforts to find out what your calling is and walk in it. Yes you have made mistakes, big deal, who hasn't? Just learn from them and move on as you have work to do. So my answer to the opening question is yes, he specifically selected me above all others, as I am special and am working towards his plans for me, what about you?
Prayer
Father I thank you that I am important as you personally selected me and are ensuring that I achieve my assignment regardless of my state of mind and attitude, knowing full well where you brought me from yet ensuring you get me to where you want me to be in Jesus name, amen.

So a friend had to go into hospital after a relapse from cancer for the second time and the side effects of chemotherapy is not one to ignore. After going through the first battle of cancer and coming out to then go for the second time makes even friends and family look at life from a different perspective and not take it for granted. Some people go buck wild and go through life while others start to take note and enjoy everything life has to offer, especially the little things around. That is also a time when a lot of people make life changing decisions and refuse to live the same life they used to live; Colossians 1:10; from work, family life through to relationships with friends and their maker. God is very patient, but always right, allowing us to make our mistakes through the choices given to us and once we come back to our senses, allows us back so long as we admit and ask for forgiveness. What does it have to take to get us in line with God? Do we have to go through near death or other traumatic experiences to get it right as most times this can be avoided?
Prayer
Lord, help me to respond well when I feel like my faith is being challenged, forgive me where I have done things that opened the wrong doors and give me your wisdom and words that only you can provide to refresh my hope in Jesus name, amen.

Had an acquaintance who was very sweet, but always wanted what everybody else had, didn't matter what she had on her plate. She always felt she could do as good as or even better than the next person in whatever they had in relationship, job etc. and my contention, was look at what God has given you and see how you can make that work, rather than think if that person can have a child, you must have one too. I must say it got very tedious managing such relationship and I had to check out of it, but now as a Christian I feel they are lacking the most vital relationship that could ever shape their lives and that is having Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit transform them into who they were really meant to be. When we are lost and have no clue of who we are meant to be, we tend to emulate others and want what they have, ignoring what we have been assigned to do. Romans 12:2 This can get very deep to the point where manipulation comes into play, just to make sure we get what we want, be it other people's stuff.
Prayer
Father help me to stay focused on you so I'll be able to detach myself from the pressures of being like everyone else, it can be overwhelming to conform sometimes, but with the power of the Holy Spirit I know I'll be able to test and follow your perfect will in Jesus name, amen.

When we have friends or acquaintances who constantly copy us or want what we have, it's a sign not to be ignored as it can lead to more sinister situation. Sometimes we don't notice these things or if we did, think it's cute that they like to copy or look up to us, but when does cute turn to crazy? When the other person starts to use manipulation to get what they want either through gentle persuasion or aggressively when you don't succumb to what they want. Proverbs 18:24; They don't communicate with you anymore or do that favour they previously promised and all this while you never noticed there was a problem or even if you did, it wasn't a big deal, but truthfully you didn't know how cheesed off they were due to your non-compliance. So since you are both regulating on different frequency you succumb and disclose more information than you would usually do to that person, oblivious of their intentions. We need to be more discerning of everything about us and around us, so we can make the right decisions about who we give access to our lives.
Prayer
Father I come to you for a closer relationship so all my spiritual gifts can be awakened through a personal contact with the Holy Spirit, you alone can make it possible, so I can differentiate between my unfriendly friends, help me strengthen my relationship so I can hear more clearly from you in Jesus name, amen.

As humans, we don't always evaluate our actions or the decision we make and how we relate with others. We just make sure so long as we come out smelling of roses, we are good, forget who gets hurt in the process. Lots of people will say that is life and it’s all about what you can get out of it, just make sure you come out trumps, but is it really? Will it be so wrong to make someone happy or give in to something even if it short changes or give you some discomfort? Genesis 4:8-9 When we feel we must always be on top regardless, we can go to any length to achieve that, the back stabbing Julius Caesar got would be very minimal compared to the look-me-in-the-eye stabbing some of us are prepared to do to get what we want and we wouldn't even break a sweat in the process. So where would all this hustling take us at the end of life if we don't have Christ? Where would we take all the wealth, fame and accolades to when we leave this world as am still looking for the richest, famous people who died and took everything to the world beyond. Now I know why some families throw parties for days when they lose a loved one.
Prayer
Father I do not want to be led by the material things of this world anymore, help me to change my ways where they have not be forthright or righteous and if it's not your will or if it will turn me into someone else, I refuse to accept it neither do I want it in Jesus name, amen.

When we encounter people with different attitudes, they can be obnoxious, nasty or just plain crazy, but do we sometimes wonder why they act or behave like that. I realised quite a lot of us have gone through and come out of a lot of unbelievable stuff and are still carrying a lot of baggage that it’s amazing how we can still interact or function in society. Most of us need to be locked up somewhere, but as luck would have it, the other sane part of society has to put up with us and they must wonder sometimes why some of us act the way we do. That is not an excuse to act the way some of us do, but we all go through certain things that make us who we are and like it says in the Bible, the good Lord already made a plan for you, have you deviated from it? Jeremiah 1:5; If you have, ask him for help so we can come back to the plan. Are we asking for help or thinking we are superman/ woman and can do it all on our own? Society can only take so much from us that they’ll have to call an intervention, but instead of waiting for that, why don’t we invite Jesus Christ into our lives as I know there is nothing no matter how hard we might think it is that he cannot take care off.
Prayer
Father I thank you that I can call on you at my lowest point as I need you and need the kind of hope only you can provide, forgive me for my sins and help me see my possibilities instead of my limits, so I can grow into the person you want me to be in Jesus name, amen.

Baptism is the death of our spiritual life in readiness for a rebirth: so when we accept Christ, we should be ready to die first to then be renewed for the new beginning. It's like dying in the physical, but much more powerful. Can you imagine how it'll feel to die in the physical, not knowing what will come afterwards, if you'll like it or how painful it'll be? Yes odd questions, but we hardly think beyond life as we can't. Being baptised gives us the opportunity to do that, it allows us to prepare for the afterlife that we refuse to think about, allowing us to change our position so we can leverage ourselves better; in other words a second chance. So when we get baptised, this is when it begins to count as we have gone through the death that Adam caused and overcome the fear of death that the devil likes to swing around like a noose as we are no longer afraid, since we now have Christ who conquered death and might I add, start to contribute to the tightening of the noose round the devil own neck. I didn't want to be baptised initially as I thought I already accepted Christ what's the difference, until I read the bible and realised the benefits, plus if Jesus Christ did it, I want to do it too. Roman 6:3-6.
Prayer
Father I praise you because only you can love me the way you do giving me a second chance of life. I thank you for the offer of a rebirth through Christ Jesus, amen.

When we decide to follow Jesus Christ, we automatically think things will be as nice as peach, then we start going through trials and tribulations and we ask, but why? When Jesus said can you drink the cup that I drink, we probably thought he was talking about the wine glass or pint of lager in the pub or bar, heck no. Mark 10:38. He was talking about the new chapter in your life, how gruesome it was going to be, how tasking with trials, tests, you name it, you'll probably go through it. Sometimes you dare not think it because you know it's round the corner, but wait, there are good, and sweet times too you know. As God powers us through all these, our lives change for the better, we learn new things about ourselves and our capabilities and the devil knows this as he has lost yet another member in the world and because he knows your value, he fights hard to keep us in the world, so we can be weak and dependent on the crumbs he throws at us, while squeezing the life out of us. I refuse to be squeezed as a matter of fact, I want to do the squeezing.
Prayer
Lord Jesus I thank you for my salvation so I can stand up straight and fight with the power of the Holy Spirit that you have given me. As the truth, continue to expose all the lies the enemy puts out there about you or myself, so I can have a better experience with you in this world in Jesus name, amen.

An acquaintance had a workman visit and as soon as the guy stepped in, he made a statement that the appliance was too old and could not be fixed, when asked why, he said the previous workman already told him since this was the second visit by the company to fix the appliance, so my acquaintance ignored him. He then popped out to get a tool and my acquaintance went to God and asked him to get the guy to come back into his house with a better, positive attitude as he was not in the mood for people that can’t do their jobs well. Engineer comes back and does a few tricks and it was clear that he had adjusted his attitude as he was very chatty and didn’t want to leave as he was offering all sorts of tips to keep the appliance in good condition. Psalm 142:2; When we bring our complaint to God and since we have been living a righteous, obedient life and serve him diligently, it is usually shocking when we get an immediate response to our cries as he doesn’t even let it hit the floor before he dispatches a response. We need to trust that he has heard us and he will send an answer that is soothing to the situation.
Prayer
Father thank you for my relationship with you and for being in my life, please help me to always include you in the things I do and to submit all I do in my life to you. Remind me when I don’t do this, so I can always bring everything to you and to glorify you in Jesus name, amen.

I stumbled into being born-again out of necessity as certain things weren't going well in my life and being a problem solver, I had to look for a solution by any means necessary. Although I knew about God the Father and Jesus, but I didn't know them well, neither could I differentiate between them. So now that I've gotten to know them well; including the Holy Spirit, I know the type of relationship I want. Others get to know God and Christ through different circumstances and possibly introduction by other people and depending on how this happens, our spiritual growth could be influenced positively or negatively by their opinion, which could alter our relationship with God. We need to know when to depend more on God and less on human influence as this is how the relationship of trust between you and God can blossom. Psalm 46:10; If we don't trust God enough to listen out for him and to him, we cannot have that one-on-one relationship others have when they say God spoke to them.
Prayer
Father I thank you that I now know you enough to want a relationship on my own accord and through forming this relationship you sent the Holy Spirit to be my helper. Lord please help me hold on to you as my first priority, so my relationship will not be compromised or influenced in my quest to serve you in Jesus name, amen.

Building our reliance on God entails work as we go through various sharpening processes to make us sharper and refined. Ecclesiastes 10:10; When we refuse to go through these processes by giving up or reverting back to what we know and are comfortable with, we only limit ourselves. We pitch our tents in the middle of our crisis refusing to move on and allowing ourselves to get cooked in it rather than learning from it or moving through it by God's grace. An acquaintance who'd rather blame others for negative things happening in their lives or turn aggressive when it's right in their face just so they don't own up to their fault once admitted to doing something and was surprised at the level of antagonism and backlash that followed, yet couldn’t believe it was all linked. For them growing through opportunities faced does not count as experience, just other people trying to mess up their day or life, ignoring the lessons to be learnt that will enable them get to God’s promise, thus avoiding or delaying the refinement process. We have to realise that God loves us, that’s why he is with us, even when we go through tough times.
Prayer
Father thank you for the opportunities you have given me to dig deep through various circumstances, thus acquiring the wisdom and knowledge to overcome them. Honour and glory to you Oh Lord as you keep gifting me with the talent and skills to fight my way through it all. Father continue to help me respond with strength and trust from you as I know that you are in control of my life in Jesus name, amen.

When you go to some family setting, you are shocked at how cordial and supportive they can be to the point where during dinner all knives and forks cleared can be accounted for, while for others it's a case of at least we have something to take back to the kitchen. When a child grows up in a family that feels like a warzone, it’s amazing when the same family members are shocked that the grown child now behaves like they are constantly in combat mode. So much that when the Holy Spirit starts to deal with their character, they struggle with him, saying no, can I keep the aggressive attitude, as I need it for emergency, not realising that he will fight our battles. An acquaintance tended to slip back into combat mode and feels they need that anytime they go for their family gathering, but as usual it comes out at other non-family situations too, especially with friends or at work. Matthew 11:28-29; So when do we finally give it all to God and how? As some of us are struggling to understand how.
Prayer
Father it has been hard and a heavy burden for me to constantly keep fighting and am tired, tired of holding all the balls in the air and keeping them afloat, tired of the disappointments, put downs, abuse and all sorts and I am so grateful that I can lay everything at your feet and just offload all my issues for you to take over, giving me a lighter yoke all because of my Lord Jesus Christ, amen.

When we wait for God to move in our situation, we sometimes have events that happen and we just go through the motions of getting by. It's only when God is ready to change your situation that the mundane things that happen on a regular basis starts to turn into ideas, solutions or breakthroughs - and most of us shout eureka, when we finally get it, as it’s been right in front of us all this while, but we didn't get it. That's how an acquaintance who'd been constantly plagued with a particular issue got their new business idea as by the time they finally got their issue sorted out, they knew all the processes and how to make it even better, so there birth a new thriving business Psalm 37:4-5. They did take it to God for confirmation a few times as they thought the idea was weird initially, but once convinced, God also showed up by taking charge and excelling them. Has God dropped a solution in our hearts that you have ignored? Sometimes when he say we'll receive healing, it might mean the condition that couldn't be identified, suddenly an expert comes on the scene and they figure out how to treat it. He works in mysterious ways, that's why he is God.
Prayer
Father I thank you that you have everything under control and you will reveal everything to me when the time is right, Lord I thank you for helping me go through the knowledge and wisdom process to finally see the things you want me to see, how you want me to see it and apply it to my situation, changing it for the better in Jesus name, amen.

Most of us have met people who like to reel out Bible verses like slot machines and every sentence they make comes with a verse, although applicable, but a lot. Which makes you start to feel guilty, so you then have a note-to-self moment to ensure you check the Bible for the referenced verses and to also read up on your Bible more. However on further conversation with them, you find out that they don't actually subscribe to their own scriptural advice or understand the true meaning of the scriptures and their decision making process follows a different pattern, which becomes annoying as they have just showed you off, making you feel that extra guilt for nothing. 2 Corinthians 10:17-18; So you wise up and realise that not everyone that knows the verses in the Bible offhand, follows its doctrines and you have to get our own personal knowledge and understanding as it’s quite easy to veer off the correct path, but we can only get this through knowing Christ Jesus and having a relationship with him.
Prayer
Lord teach me to know and understand your words so where necessary, I can stand on those words as my sword to demolish every pretentious arguments that sets itself up against the knowledge of God in Jesus name, amen.

When we talk to people who respond with predictable outcomes, it is so easy for us to gauge their reactions when we deal with them, so you either avoid certain topics or taunt them to wind them up. Can you imagine what the enemy will do to them, as they know how to constantly get them in trouble when they are faced with temptations, as they are bound to produce predestined, predictable actions? I used to be very aggressive and brash, but my take was don't come at me the wrong way and I wouldn't give you attitude and I found that it was a defense mechanism on my part as it shielded me from stuff, but it worked. So now that am in Christ, it took me a long time to understand and accept the works of the Holy Spirit. Romans 12:2; When you are in Christ and you follow his words and allow the Holy Spirit to work on you, you'll find out that even you cannot trust your own actions and responses as what they enemy already thinks you'll do, becomes a lie as the predetermined predictions turn out to be unpredictable actions going forward. Am usually in shock at the decisions and actions I now make in response to situations, but still don't come at me as my responses are now refined. God promised to mould my character, not change who I am entirely otherwise even He wouldn't recognise me.
Prayer
Holy Spirit only you can take what looks like chaos, messed up and untamable in the physical and turn it into the gem it was meant to be. Father I do not know how you do it and honestly I do not want to know, but I thank you for doing it. Lord it was rough, tough and excruciatingly painful, but I thank you Jesus for being with me all through the process, amen.

How do we show God appreciation when he has blessed us, do we just say thank you and move on expecting the next blessings to come round, especially when he blesses us financially or again do we just say thank you? A lot of us are failing to get God's full and continuous blessings because we don't show appreciation. When someone goes out of their way to do something nice for us, we say thank you and most times tell other people how nice the person was, what they'd done for us and sometimes because of what the person did for us, this enables us to be more open and generous to bless other people. So where God has made it possible for us to receive our blessings one way or the other, how do we let people know about it? 1 Chronicles 16:34 Let us not shy away from showing our appreciation to God as this determines where and when our next set of blessing will come. So let’s bring out the praises, worship, thanksgiving, offering everything including the library and its entire books if necessary, but let us thank Jehovah.
Prayer
Father your faithfulness is outstanding, especially when you turn you face away from my sins as soon as I confess and repent from them. Your love for me is astonishing that you will do anything to bring me back to you and keep me in you, there is no other love than the one you give to me and I know I have not earned it, so I come to say Lord I thank you in the name of Jesus, your one and only son, amen.
