I'm just wondering.
Who earns more between this two people both at entry level and at the long run?
And who has a better chance of societal and political recognition in terms of appointment.

A medical consultant earns far more than a proffesor in almost all countries of the world. In the united states, an entry level post resident doctor makes from $180k to $500k per annum depending on specialty while even the top proffrsors who are dean of colleges hardly make above $130k.
In nigeria,an entry level government consultant makes about 700k montly excluding outside consultations while a new proffessor make about 430k.
This difference is quite understandable since doctors are quite functional.people who also bring in money for the facilites and also impart knowledge on students while proffesors only impart knowledge and hardly bring in any money to their universties.
Nigeria doctors are one of the most poorly paod in the world that is why we are losing them by thousands to better paying countries like the us,uk,saudi arabia and now even namibia and botswana where they are in very high demand.

also include dental consultants. They are on d same pay package as their medical consultant colleagues.

Everybody is using common sense and I'm disappointed because most people here don't know a consultant can also be a professor.
The starting salary for all federal government consultants in Nigeria is 700k monthly for a consultant is not only treating patients but also teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the lecture rooms and in the hospitals also. And unlike other department lecturers teaching with MSc or PhD that start as lecturerII ,medical consultants start as senior lecturers which is the the next status after professor. I dint add private practice o. So why the fuss here!
it is untrue. Medical and dental consultants start as lecturer I and not as senior lecturer.

As per basic salary, a consultant earns more. But as per the amount they can make, a professor makes more. Professors win millions of dollar in research grant in USA. Lots of professor have many graduate students and post docs that they pay salaries to work for them. But then you need to be a good researcher and in fields that are in demand.

There is something called skipping and relativity which makes a senior registrar at SR1 level earn over 500k & new consultants over 700k at places where it has been implemented.

New senior registrars now earn over 400k while Those at SR1 now earn over 500k in some hospitals.

This is a fact.

Forget that your paper, I know this for sure!

Are you a doctor? Do you work at a federal teaching hospital where conmess is fully implemented? Then don't argue cos I work @ one. Your belief does not affect what drops into the accounts of SR1 in my hospital every month.

New senior registrars in my hospital start with over 400k while those @ SR1 level (After 1year as an SR) earn over 500k just like I said earlier.

You may not believe it, but I can convince you by sending you a payslip.

Its not a rumour bro, Its been hapening here since last year. If you're a doctor then you can also join the ARD struggle in your hospital to push your management to also implement the full conmess.

Send me your email, lemme foward you payslips.

Dont ask me the hospital where I work, but its in the north.

I drop my pen here.

ONLY their fellow health workers see them that way.

Many graduates from other disciplines who work with Shell, Total, Chevron, NNPC, CBN, FIRS, NB PLC, among others earn better than doctors.

One doctor in my area who is a surgeon and works in a teaching hospital lives in rented house and drives a cheap car. How can I envy him?
. And how are drs in those juicy companies you listed remunerated? Less that other professionals I guess

I did my SIWES in those days at Nigerian Breweries PLC and the highest paid staff is the Brewery Manager who is a Biochemist, followed by the Head Brewer (a microbiologist) and then the Engineering Manager ( an Engineer). The next person is the Human Resource Manager (an Economist) before the Brewery Medical doctor.

I am also aware that Engineers are the highest paid in oil and gas companies and NNPC.

Do you need an improvement in your ward's academic performance?
Do you reside around the Lekki, Ajah, and Victoria Island axis?
Do you have a challenge about getting a very good, simple and disciplined home tutor?

Please, feel free to contact Darayola Tutor @08035267070.

I have testimonies already. Your ward(s) too can benefit from it.

....Academic complexity, simplified!

You don't understand, the doctor in dat company must be a Medical Officer, certainly not a Specialist... I can assure u the Doctor is there temporarily and would take off as soon as he gets the chance to bcom a Specialist. Or, he is comfortable with peanuts, while his colleagues earn heavily.
Any company that hires a Doctor (Specialist) pays him higher than his equal in any other profession.

Are you kidding me? The brewery medical doctor will NEVER earn more than the brewery manager even if he is a professor of medicine.

Don't write what you don't know. This is not federal hospital but brewery. The Biochemists, microbiologists and engineers are the brains behind brewing and profit making. Private organizations are after profit making nobody cares if you spent 20 years in medical school.

Even the industrial nurse earns nothing compared to those guys.

If a biochemist or microbiologist or engineer makes a mistake, brewery loses N500 million.

I know you would argue that doctors save life but I bet you that there are doctors in private hospitals who earn N60k.

Also, the brewery can as well give their staff medical allowance and ask them to get treatment elsewhere.

Industrial doctors and nurses are not part of the technical team of any industry because with respect to brewing, they know nothing about the science of brewing.

Of course, if he can go to the federal hospitals where they worship them as god.
