i personally think feminism should be given more attention in the society. did i hear you say why?

here is why i feel that way?

with the promotion of feminism there would be a reduction in wife battering since feminism teaches women their rights and how to fight for it.

this full housewife thing to me is just absurd. why would i want to sit home all day doing nothing? if my marriage ends up like tiwa and teebliz's marriage how do i cater for my kids. feminism fights against this.that is what liberal and socialist feminism is all about.

basically, feminism is all about empowering women if it is done the right way because im aware there are extremists as feminists. you can force a horse to the stream but you cant force it to drink water.

2. intelligence is simply being very smart and being really knowledgeable while brilliance is being very bright and clever.

you can improve your intelligence by reading articles, researches, understanding, reasoning and the likes but brilliance comes from creativity and having knowledge and skills. brilliance is practically being able to put your intelligence to use by creativity

thanks!

question1

I think feminism should be given more attention,it's necessary but we often misuse it...it's not all about putting women ahead of men but it should be make sure we share equal rights and be equally respected!
their are many injustices involving women, and it's really bad!
so I stand by it!

question 2

there are slight difference between intelligence and brilliant!

i think intelligent is knowing how to answer questions but brilliant is more often used for coming up with intelligent ideas and let me chip in this for more clarification...

an intelligent person will have an idea maybe of a problem but a brilliant person will know how to use that idea for a better result!

thanks!

Wow

1. Of course, Feminism should be given more attention to in the society. Why
because is a world for both gender, the society should listen to women also and not only men. God created both man nd woman for different purpose, so we women should be allowed to speak up and they (the men) should listen, I really admire Mrs Clinton for her courage to conteste for the White House, if men heard listened to Mrs Jubril formar PDP presidential candidate who try to contest but failed at the PDP rally because men and the society don't think she can do well.
Am so happy to see my fellow women doing their thing in the Senate and House they make me to believe that alot of hope is there for women.

2. Brilliance means to b bright and cleve while intelligance means wisdon.

I don't think Brilliance and intelligance are the same. Why

To b brilliant you have to be clever and be bright on the area of field you find yourself. While to be intelligant you need to have wisdom on what you doing and find a possible ways or solutions to problems.

Thank you.

Sorry Am late with this.

Feminism is about women. I am a humanist. I believe in the ideology that all humans are created equally and hence should be given equal opportunities to reach greater heights. In my society, women already have the rights and opportunities to follow their dreams and spread their wings. Although, the same cannot be said of some societies in Nigeria and other developing countries. Like in Iraq where women are not totally free to express their feelings or go to school.
I believe those societies need to be educated on the importance of humanism instead of feminism. A focused approach to gender issues such as the feminist movement can do more harm than good. Already, we are seeing the endless bitter arguments in Nairaland and other forums. Furthermore, there are laws in developed countries like the US, that greatly discriminate against men although they appear and are in fact gender neutral in theory.

Question 2)

Brilliance and intelligence are not the same.Intelligence is a general ability that shows knowledge and understanding while brilliance is excellence. You can be intelligent but not brilliant If you cannot apply your knowledge and understanding to create an excellent impression or result. You need intelligence to be brilliant, But you do not need brilliance to be intelligent. smiley

Lanicky, in a thread you created last year, (which you edited today after it was busted; although, I took a screenshot of the original post) just before the presidential election, you openly condemned APC as an Islamic party disguised as an agenda for 'CHANGE'. You hinted that the position of the vice president, Osibanjo, who is also a Christian, was a mere smokescreen to deceive unwary Nigerians of Buhari's plan Islamise the nation. Then you went further to warn Christians to vote against Buhari and APC.
Now, is it not a shame that the same people you condemned are the people propelling your campaign for Miss Nairaland today? Tell us how proud you feel to associate with them?

1. id like to become what my name entails.... ADEWURA....A GOLDEN CROWN

2. i dont think there is any age a woman cannot marry after 23 and before 30 as long as you feel fulfilled and you are sure you are matured enough to manage whatever comes with marriage.

3. this is one of the issues i find very sad. to a rape victim;

honey, never in any time blame yourself for what happened. it is not your fault that you were at the wrong place at the right time. your worth is not reduced. i once read this in a book to show you your worth is not reduced if you dont give up on yourself. here it goes:

imagine me holding a very new and neat 100 dollar note and holding it out to you, you want it right?

now i mistakenly dropped the 100 dollar note and there was a stampede, the money got stepped on and it became rough and tattered but it was not in pieces, and i held it out to you

you still want the money dont you? the value has not reduced, it only went through a hard time under peoples foot that trampled on it.

the same way the value of that money didnt reduce after being trampled on, your value is still as high as it was before. dont give up, your are special in your own way, you dont need to curse that guy, you dont need to be depressed, i know its hard but you cant stay down forever. you have to bounce back and show that guy you are strong.

you are determined to make something out of that life you thought was destroyed because of the rape. direct that anger in you to something creative.

you my love are a virtuous woman, you are God's special creation and no man can change that....

4. well, i believe the miss nairaland contest is a way to give ladies or women the privilege to show off themselves ( beauty, brilliance, intelligence etc) and for some that wants to go in the modelling sector, an opportunity to add one more success to their portfolio.

miss nairaland should be able to use their popularity to make certain changes here on nairaland. one of which is the way people address each other here.

1) I will like to be a dream. I will like to be able to show people the truth through dreams so that they can make better decisions and see the consequences of actions and choices. I will be a dream with a purpose, a purpose to show vision.

2)I will advise ladies to get married whenever they are ready. But they have to understand that men prefer younger women. This should not mean women should rush into marriage. Marriage should be about love, unity, affection, desires and respect. So women should take their time to make great decision while striving to be the best they can.

3) My first words would be 'it wasn't your fault' but it is up to you to help justice to make the person pay and also to prevent him or her from doing it to other people.I will ask the person to go to the hospital to get a swab, then report to it the police. I will also ask the person to visit an NGO for help and support to go through this. I will let him or her know that they need help from those that care about them.

4) I think the essence of Miss Nairaland is to inspire ladies to build self esteem, to withstand criticisms and to promote the spirit of sportsmanship. it would help Niaraland by drawing traffic which would inspire people to learn to break boundaries. It also help people especially the contestants and campaign team to get to know one another outside the platform, to work together to promote a single goal which brings about the spirit of unity.

AlphaDex:
Lanicky, you urged Nigerians to vote along religious lines in your thread here: https://www.nairaland.com/2101974/nigerians-warned

You accused APC of trying to islamise Nigeria despite having a Christian southerner as the Vice President .

Don't you find that thoughtless and igniting the flames of tribal restiveness?
