Get a copy of the 2001 and 2007 draft agreements which the government is refusing to sign. Read it through and then get an understanding of what the issues are.

I met one of your top staffs in a park one day. I knew he was one of you when he intervened in an argument between a friend and I.We were contemplating on why you should leave about million of youths out there idle and jobless with future wasting. He first asked me if I will like to be a lecturer after graduating. In reply, I said God forbid, that I will never tolerate that. He said that is what they are doing so that young mindsets like us will aspire to come into the field. I reasoned that and and knew that with the way things are going banks and oil firms together with other industries will be were every graduate wil like to be employed backing lecturing jobs.
I believe that you are not comfortable with the way things are going cos at least you guys are part of the victims. You know what again to do, have another meeting. If there is another way you will resolve this, please do. We are fade up.

Concerning the prolonged ASUU strike,i feel sorry for the students who's education is being halted BUT let's look at things from another perspective.This government of ours (just like any other government in other countries) do not really care about people's welfare unless the people fight for it.ASUU is not only fighting for better pay, they are also fighting for better funding for institutions.I know how it feels to be at home during the strikes (I spent 8 years studying a 5 year engineering course so i know how it is) but without such actions, we will be in the same phase year in-year out.Nigerians generally have a "siddon look" mentality and the govt knows this and they believe that when the lecturers are tired, they will get back to school.Well, i hope ASUU doesn't bock at this stage.This strike of theirs further exposes the nonchalance of govt to peoples welfare.I mean let's face it, Nigerian universities are simply glorified secondary schools these days.Our degrees are only recognized within this country.Outside, it's as good as trash.A degree from Ghana or Botswana carries more weight that Nigeria.Isn't that a cause for concern?

An average computer engineer fresh from the university cannot reformat a computer talk less of coupling one.I've seen mechanical engineers fresh from school who cannot differentiate between a petrol engine and a diesel engine.There are some people walking around, calling themselves electrical engineers but they will be clueless if you give them a transistor radio to fix not to talk of a stadium electronic score board.Speaking for myself, i had to spend almost a year hanging around computer village boys to garner some experience.Everything i was taught in school was of little or no use to me outside the university walls.OUR SCHOOLS NEED OVERHAULING and these are part of the things ASUU is fighting for.

I know it's hard on the students and a lot don't see any use of the strike but it's for the greater good (i do understand that everyone looks out for themselves though and no one really gives a rats ass about greater good)
