I am very passionate not only with my state affairs but that of my region.

I am an advocate for 100% resource control and seccesion for the Niger Delta people from this damn fraudulent assembly .

All other rubbish you wrote I did not bother to read.

You juveniles, instead of you to improve yourselves to add more value to your lives, you spend all your time dabbling in what you have no idea about or even concern you.

90% of the people here shouting "our oil" or 100% resource control have never seen a drop of raw crude in their lives or an oil slick. 100% resource control is not possible for any mineral resource community in the world. Even with countries, you can only achieve 100% resource control if you possess the military and technological might. As it is, foreign countries through their multinationals own and control up to 50% of our oil resources. Even Saudi Arabia does not have control of 100% of its oil resources.

If the government should actually hands off control and defense of our on shore and offshore oil fields, the nigerdelta tribes would not be able to defends it against oil hungry countries like the US and France ( through their proxy - Cameroon). Also the fight for between the various tribes for ownwership of the oil fields would be bloody and viscous ( remember the on going crisis over the ownership of Ibaji oil field between kogi, anambra and Enugu).
What we in the nigerdelta have never screamed 100% resource control like our Igbo neighbours, we understand its impracticability, what we are demanding is 50% derivation, standard drilling and exploration practices that don't destroy our environment, as is done in other climes, fair and equitable allocation of oil fields ( not like it is presently skewed in favour of the north) and a better corporate responsibility from the oil companies to the communities.

In the end, those that own the land will not remember those that funded the rice farms.
Another waste of lagos state resources!

The OP makes has a point worth considering, though I see it from a slightly less ethnocentric pesrpective.

I dont understand the logic behind this rice mill.

What's Lagos State's business with rice.

They claim they want food security for Lagosians? Are they going to get into Garri, pepper, onion production too?

Will Lagos start distributing or selling rice to its residents? The City of London doesn't own potato farm; nor does New York State run a rice mill or Cape Town City a maize flour mill.

Some things are just not for govt and I think this decision is a poor one on many levels. Some primary students are still sitting on classroom floor and taking classes under leaking roofs in Lagos, yet the govt is convinced a rice mill in a far away state is its priority?

Rubbish.

LASG investing in Kebbi rice farming to provide free rice for Lagosians.

Read the nonsense you posted again.

The emphasis is on self sustainability and diversification from oil, how will Kebbi rice plantation help Lagos?

You have no argument.

Besides can you compare the direct benefits of cocoa industry in the sw and how it will directly provide both jobs and much needed revenue to the State coffers?

Slave like you won't understand.

One day soon, Sanusi will send his youngest cousin to be crowned Emir of Ife and you will applaud him.

What has investment in rice production got to do with giving Lagosians free rice? Will your beloved cocoa or the money derived be distributed free to Lagosians instead?

Your bigotry has badly damaged your thinking faculty.

For your information, Lagos state government established a rice mill in Lagos and needs raw material to feed the mills hence the investment to empower Lagos youth to produce rice wherever there is suitable land. Who are you to tell or dictate what crop a free people should invest in?

Tell your governor to invest in Cocoa farm in cross-river state since you love the crop so much and you claim to be of the same region.

When we finally leave you in your one nijeriya, the north will have all rights to your oil fields since they can authoritatively declare that they invested and developed your oil industry. The same lie that you yorubas peddle about how Nigerian oil sector was developed by cocoa and groundnuts will become fact in your land.

Keep boasting on Dangote's investment in ondo.

Or have you not paused to figure out why all oil licencing in your region is not in joint partnership with the state owned NNPC but through private leasing?

What's stopping you from leaving already? You're probably posting from Osun state and don't even know where your village is located in Iboland.

And what's stopping them investing in rice farms in their region?

Secondly, how can rice production diversify your economy? Can Nigeria compete in rice exports with the likes of China, Japan, India and co?

Why not invest in what you knew how to do best which is cocoa farming.

You have the climate and conducive environment to farm cocoa which will yield more revenue than rice.

So why not invest in your cocoa sector?

The rice is for consumption in Lagos not for export. Leave Lagos state for Lagos state to govern. Maybe your state govt might appreciate your advice.
