how many weeks are you. I didn't tell people until i was 12 weeks even now at (soon to be) 18 weeks I have not told everyone. Do what you feel is best for you. As for the pimples apparently that is normal - i have them all over my back, i've had back pain from day 1 even b4 i knew i was pregnant. luckily no indigestion or heart burn for me. have u started the crying at everything yet? gosh looking back now i will never forget the day i burst into tears when my husband forgot to use a coaster on the table - he thought i had gone mad.

we thank God thou and can't wait for the news of the safe delivery of ur bouncing baby boy. Gosh i cannot wait to find out the gender at the end of the month - i really want to start on the blue or pink buying

Hi all,

God bless you all for sharing. I am  a TTC, i've had 3MCs  cry cry. Things just go wrong btw the 2 and 3month, now i am even more afraid of getting pregnant though that is what i pray for every-time. I practically live in fear. I am not sure i trust any doctor again( i mean no offence, pls). I have total trust in God for the next preggie coming.
It feels good to have everybody on board to laugh and testify with. The Lord is truly our strength.

I hope to be able to share my testimony with you all. Take care, you all.

moduperola sorry to hear about ur miscarriages - it cannot be easy. Have you been told why you have them, have u or ur husband been tested. I only ask as women with PCOS have a higher risk of multiple MCs. I use the following website below just to give me some advice and information about things.

http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/griefandloss/understandingmiscarriage/

I hope soon that ur trust in God will enable you to share you testimony - God's time is truely the best. Take care
Re: Trying To Conceive A Child? TTC by Nobody: 6:26pm On Aug 02, 2010
such a lovely and educative thread. kudos to everyone.
Just that I never saw this when I was TTC. . .smiley
But God has done it. . and I heartily believe that He's going to do it for everyone in here, too. Amen

Suffice to say that, for those having series of MCs, I'd suggest you check your Rhesus factor. I learnt it's one of the many causes of MCs. The Private Hospital I registered with did not approve of this test until I registered with the General Hospital and immediate attention was given.

If your Rhesus is Negative, it's very likely you do have some traces of MCs. I almost had, but I took precautions. . .

And, lastly. . . I wish I could tell it all here, but God did surprise me in ways I least expected. . .even when Doctors said it wasn't possible to give birth naturally with their facts, figures and evidences. . .GOD proved otherwise. And, I had my baby in Dec. (I remember visiting Obn. and Gyna. section every now and then. . . lol).

But really, Our best is yet to come, dear sisters and awaiting mothers. . . . smiley

Loads of Love.

Hi everyone, Happy new month.
@Ejadamen congratulations to you, I like the way you started the month with good news I believe that will be the report on this site for everyone TTC.
@Delphilia congrats on the positive spirt, I tell you thats the best way to deal with the situation forget what anyone is telling you and focus on the word of God he never fails, I know you will testify here too as you rightly said "Pikin must enter" smiley.

@Moduperola sorry about the MC, like someone rightly said I think you should try to find out the cause of the MCS so you can know what youre dealing with, and most importantly put your trust in God and he will see you to term.

@Olowotee, thanks for the words of encouragement we sure need testimonies like that here.

@Arlington, How you dey and our little one? One thing you should know youre a living testimony to everyone TTC, so I think you should talk about the goodness of God in your life and nothing can take that away from you, as you will carry your baby to term and comeback here to testify.

@My fellow sisters I know theres a miracle for each one this month, just believe it, and thank God every day.
Cheers.

Thank you all smiley

@Arlington,beard grin grin I won't be taken by surprise this time. Tell people when you are ready. In fact according to my Pastor's wife, the time to tell people is after delivery.

@ Mypeace I did not do anything special, funny enough I was already thinking I'll have to go through another cycle again. My first hint was when it was extra hard for me to skip and do sit ups.

@ Sammy, you! Anyway thank God for the rainy season grin

@luvly,jenny9,echala,aratoluda,sammy,arly amen to your prayers.

@ moduperola,I understand about being afraid. The thoughts that have run through my mind since I found out lipsrsealed Find out why you are having these MCs, and when next you get pregnant pray anytime the devil tries to bring those negative thoughts. It is well.

Timing Baby Dancing

Arlington, masido , stages and others who have recently become pregnant, can you confirm or dispell the findings of the study as shown in bold below?

http://www.babycentre.co.uk/preconception/activelytrying/timingintercourse/

When is the best time to have intercourse if we're trying to conceive?

Ideally you need to have intercourse as near as possible to the time you ovulate (when the egg is released from the ovary). spermatozoa can live inside you for up to seven days, but the egg is around for only 12 to 24 hours. To increase the likelihood of conception, you would ideally have intercourse one or two days prior to ovulation. That way, there is likely to be a healthy supply of spermatozoa waiting in your fallopian tubes when an egg is released.

So that's the ideal, but it's not essential to restrict sex to a day or two before the time you think you'll ovulate. One study of the timing of intercourse in 221 women who were trying to conceive found that the 192 women who got pregnant had had sex at some point in the six days leading up to ovulation, as estimated by urine tests. The majority conceived as a result of intercourse in the day or two before ovulation. But six per cent were identified as having conceived as the result of intercourse three or more days before the day of ovulation.
Exactly when a woman ovulates in any given cycle isn't always easy to predict. It depends in part on the length of your menstrual cycle, although recent research has shown that the "window" of ovulation can vary more than was once thought, even when your menstrual cycles are regular. This is one of the reasons why fertility experts recommend having sex every two to three days throughout your cycle, rather than focusing your efforts on the days when you think you're about to ovulate.

How do I know when I'm ovulating?

Some women are very aware of when they ovulate. Other women don't notice any changes at all. If you're thinking about getting pregnant, get in touch with your body by looking out for the natural signs that you're approaching ovulation. These may start about three weeks before you expect your next period and include:

• Increased womanly discharge that takes on a wetter, egg-white quality as you approach ovulation

• Increased libido

• Slight feelings of discomfort on one side of your middle abdomen

To determine the approximate time when you're most likely to notice the signs that you're in your fertile window try our ovulation calculator. Plus, see our article for more on recognising the signs of ovulation.

If my periods are irregular, will it be harder for me to get pregnant?

The more irregular your periods are, the more difficult it is to predict ovulation. However, if you are ovulating then as long as you are having intercourse two or three times a week, you will be having sex at the right time.

What else can I try?

Many experts feel that for most couples having sex two or three times a week is the most effective way of maximising your chances. It's certainly worth trying for at least a few months before looking at other ways to detect ovulation.

Morag Martindale, BabyCentre's family doctor, suggests that, "If you do not become pregnant after, say, six months of actively trying (particularly if you are over 35 years of age), it's worth talking to your doctor. He or she may well suggest that you track your cycle for a few months to identify how regular your periods are and when and if you are ovulating. Your doctor can also give you advice about your health and what you can do to increase your chances of conceiving."

Hi Ladies,

Ejadamen, Massive Congrats to you and DH. It's really good you started this month with good news. Wishing you two all the best.

Not much to report on my side, don't even know what day I'm on.

Have a nice day!!!!!!!!!! everyone.
Re: Trying To Conceive A Child? TTC by Ejadamen(f): 9:47am On Aug 03, 2010
Thanks GenBuhari and Beetle.

@Gen Buhari, about that article,it sounds reasonable, since a woman can only conceive when she ovulates. The only thing that puzzled me was the six or more percent that conceived as a result of intercourse 3 or more days before ovulation. I was under the impression that sperm is alive for only up to 72hrs in the woman's body. The findings seem reasonable.

Hi people, I need encouragement. I've been doing some research on cerclage and I am scared. Scared about the procedure, about how I might have to bedrest, about not having intercourse after the procedure for the duration of pregnancy shocked I read stuff that is messing my mind and I've started wondering why my own has to be different. Just wanted to share and be encouraged.

On a happy note,no morning sickness smiley

Re: Trying To Conceive A Child? TTC by labella12: 8:10pm On Aug 03, 2010
@ejadamen congrats this is great news a wonderful way to start the month. about the cerclage u dont have to be afraid i have a friend who had cerclage for her three children make sure u see a very good obstetrician and he/she must confirm there is cervical incompetence. did u have any miscarriage? if yes did you find out what caused it all misC are not caused by cervical incompetence a large % is caused by genetic probs like my peace said u will cross the bridge when u get there just relax u can ask any questions u have about your fears i am a doctor though not an obs and gyn specialist but i can help take care

Re: Trying To Conceive A Child? TTC by Aladunni(f): 9:37pm On Aug 03, 2010
I dont know much about this cerclage stuff but I have this to say. Maybe you should try with another 1 or 2 ob/gyn, cos i had a case in my hands just last week.

There is this naive lady in my office who is between 16 -18 weeks gone now, infact she dint know she was preggy the first time, she only told me symptoms and i told her to do a home test which came out +ve, but it was too late, used too many thing to treat a presumed fever, so she lost it. But she took in almost immediately. Now two weeks back she had to travel by road to ABJ and when she got there she came down with malaria, she was treated and in the course of that told she has an open cervix and will be needing a cerclage cost almost 62k, she called me and i told her to come back immediately but by flight. She has been around for a week now and attended to by almost 3 different ob/gyn in the teaching hospital who told her there is nothing threatening her baby and that she is fine from the result of all the test done.

If you ask me, i dont understand what happened in ABJ . Infact the complain over here is that the foetus might be soffocated by such a stitch.

So, Ejadamen can you just check with someone else (i mean another gyneacologist) before you conclude on anything? As already said, something else might have caused the first MC. Be gentle on yourself too, what you need most now is peace on all sides. Take care
Re: Trying To Conceive A Child? TTC by Nobody: 11:45pm On Aug 03, 2010
@Ejadamen,
Try not to worry about anything, put everything into God's hands and just take good care of yourselve and the chances are that you would have a trouble-free prenancy.

For your peace of mind (if you could afford it) get a good doctor and have regular frequent monitoring / ante-natal care appointments in the early weeks ( first 3months).

Re: Trying To Conceive A Child? TTC by Ejadamen(f): 11:20am On Aug 04, 2010
@labella12 and Aladunni, I was told that my last MC was caused by premature rupture of membrane. Before it ruptured however, the baby was just coming out and I didn't know. That happened at 20 weeks. It was like giving birth without labour pains and suddenly there was water everywhere. That's when I was rushed to the hospital. From all I have read that sounds like incompetent cervix to me. I do understand about confirming first though. I am looking for a good hospital right now because I am in a new town.

@GenBuhari,thanks.

Divab - ur even lucky you have a regular cycle - it is only by the grace of God that I am pregnant, I have very irregular periods and in the 6 months prior to getting pregnant i had days between periods consisting of 53, 31, 46, 37 and 28 so all these online due date calculators mean nothing to me I didin't even know when i was ovulating hence why i was very shocked when i found out I was pregnant and not suffering from yet another bout of malaria.

I use this website and a whole host of others - in fact i will put a list of all the sites i am currently using for this pregnancy.

my dear this pregnancy has taken over my life and the baby has hijacked my body - LOL!!!!!!!. But seriously its really nice to watch the fetal development and watch videos cos it really is the miracle of life.

For those who are TTC have hope my dears - 2 years ago one doctor told me here that with all my issues it would be hard for me to conceive - i left it to God and here I am at 18weeks plus expecting a healthy baby, so it will happen for you, I was even told last year that even if i did get pregnant i may not carry past 12 weeks - God is the only one with that power.
