Jesus performed a number of miracles while physically on earth. The first one was recorded in tthe gospel of John 2 vs 1 to 11. Here Jesus turned water to wine at a wedding ceremony as the one they had ran out. Today some people justify taking of alcohol. They base their argument on the fact that Jesus turned water to wine. But did He actually turn water to alcohol? Knowing how intoxicating alcohol is and the penchant of the unregenarate to drink excessively especially when it is free, can Jesus the Holy Son of God turn water to alcoholic drink? If He did, the implication is that He encouraged drunkenness which is sin. And whosoever encourages sin is a sinner. And we know Jesus never sinned (1st Peter 2:21,22). Logically, Jesus could not have turned water to alcoholic drink.

Jesus never encourage drunkenness. In I Timothy 5:23 the apostle Peter encourage young Timothy who had a little stomach upset to take a LITTLE wine for the sake of your stomach and frequent stomach upset.

In Luke 10:34 wine has certain medical value and also acts as disinfectant. Since Bible times wine has been regularly use with meals, bread, wedding feast, banquet and as a form of commodity. (Gen 27:25, 1 Sam 16:20, jos 9:4 and 13)

Contrary to popular belief alcohol are not mental stimulant but are sedetive and depressants of the nervous system.(PS 31:6 and 7)
Its even among custom for Romans to give wine to blunt the pain of people being executed. Perhaps that was why Jesus was being offered wine while impaling him. Mr 15:23

MODERATION is the key word. Even honey is of no exception. PR 25:27
Overindulgence and disregard for life and Bible principles is what brings disapproval from God. Prov 23: 20.

There is no doubt that alcoholic wine is used for medicinal and other purposes. There is also no doubtful that Jesus was given vinegar probably to reduce His pain. The question remains, did Jesus turn water to alcoholic wine for people to drink whether in moderation or excess knowing fully well that not all the people at the wedding were Christians? Secondly, should a genuinely born again child of God stock beer, whiskey, 'ogogoro', palm wine liquor or any other intoxicant into his/her fridge and be drinking for pleasure and entertainment of visitors? Do you think God will be pleased with such a believer?
