Do u guys interact with them ?
What's the general opinion ? Trust factor

Generally we dont. But the past 6 months a company of their's was assigned to the same sector as one of our platoons. The idea was they'd advance into any settlement about to be attacked, either protecting civilians or, allowing our offensive platoon attached to them to either defend them or the settlement/village/town. Most of the time they tactically advanced to the rear. Which is why very quickly, even the most inexperienced section leader from RSABATT would groan when told they were in same sector as elements from PA_BATT.

That said, their staff officers I encountered are top-class.

Info on the Prithvi warheads

Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by Nobody: 2:58am On Oct 06, 2018
One of the prithvi warheads BCES (blast cum earth shock) in action during testing

It contains 32 explosive penetrators that penetrate the ground , structures etc and then explode for damage . Its effect is that of a area saturation warhead. Targets r airfields , staging areas , C2 posts , depos etc

Budget constraints ?

Not really. We were one of the founder partners of the damn thing, which is why Denel Aeronotics still manufactures part of the plane. We were scheduled to get 10-12, paid a substantial amount, with the balance supposedly off-set by loans, our R & D and manufacturing contribution. The delays at Airbus's side, coupled with exchange fluctuations and some fool not having hedged for currency volatility, caused some other fool advising the DefMin to mis-state how much we were supposed to pay. As a result the politicians said "Nyet", we were refunded our original buy-in. When the auditors discovered the mistake of the extra zero, nobody politically wanted to re-surrect the deal as they' all made a meal of how much savings when pulling out etc.

The irony of course, is that Denel continues churning out struts and fuselages as one of the original founder manufacturers.

Fucking politicians! We would've received all 10-12 of our planes by now.

That sucks

a extra zero killed the deal shocked

Strategic lift capability is a must

Anyways do know LCA contribution to A400 grin

Airbus bought the rights to a integrated automated software for designing and analysing 3-D laminated composite elements developed for LCA and it was used in A400.

The Russians and Boeing also bought it.

Interestingly, it was also largely bought by racing car manufacturers for its ability to reduce weight of the cars with accurate design.

CFD analysis for using su30mki as a buddy refuler for LCA

So that's a given su30mki will act as a mini tanker for LCA in the future

And looks like the first definite image of LCA MK2 has come out ( unofficially atleast till more info comes out )

I am totally surprised since it now sports a close coupled fully active canards like typhoon and rafale

Previously naval LCA MK1 has LEVCONS attached to the wings , now it seems the designers had opted for one of the many design configuration which was explored at the beginning of the LCA programme.

The canards now r totally separate from the wing and are positioned below and aft of the cockpit and the front fuselage has been increased by 1 m and the tail also has been redesigned.

Pic 1 LCA MK2 with fully active close coupled canards separate from the wing

Pic 2 LEVCONS attached to the wing on naval LCA MK1

Pic 3 one of the initial wind tunnel models of LCA with fully active close coupled canards separate from the wing

Pic 4 typhoon fully active close coupled canards separate from the wing , now to be implemented in LCA MK2 hopefully

Why are you guys buying Frigates from Russia and what type?
Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by Nobody: 4:22am On Oct 08, 2018
Ind... is basically interested in 77N6-N and the 77N6-NI LR-SAMs, having top speeds of 7km/second and also the first LR-SAMs of Russian origin to possess INERT warheads.

They r part of S500. Later these will shipped as part of the S400 deal.

Partly as a favour to the Russians, 2 of the frigates r already build but without the turbines which the Ukranians refused to supply to them.

Ind.. with buy the turbines from Ukraine and supply them to Russia for fitting to the half complete ships.

Another 2 ships will be built in Ind... with TOT as a quid pro quo.

Type name I don't remember maybe admiral go..... something

Initially, the S-400 will come equipped with only the 380km-range 40N6E LR-SAMs

Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by Nobody: 4:46am On Oct 08, 2018
Deal is for 5 regiments of S400

1 regiment has 2 battalions so 10 battalions ordered

1 battalion has 8 launchers , 112 missiles and associated command , radar and support vehicles. So total 80 launchers and 1120 missiles.

However total missiles ordered is 6000.

Personally I think S400 effectiveness lies in its psychological effect.

In real world I doubt it's effectiveness which will be dictated by its geographical location ( like atop mountains, hills etc ) to overcome the limitations placed by the natural curvature of Earth which will otherwise impede the effective radar range.

LRSAMs r only effective against high altitude targets and can operate to its full potential only in a layered air defence coverage provided by MRSAMs , SRSAMs , VSHORADs , AAA etc with a centralised networked C2.

Otherwise it's a white elephant.

One interesting reason why s400 was bought becz of the falling squadron nos of fighters. Primary air defence task is with fighters however since the shiit storm associated with fighter procurement has played spoiler sport the s400 buy was required.

However there is a silver lining IAF has confirmed procurement of 300+ LCA when the various versions become available.

I hope LCA MK1A LCA MK2 gets operationalized soon

The IAF has been put in charge of the LCA programme a month ago , which should have done years ago.

Also LCA MK2 has been renamed to MCA as it is being built as a medium combat aircraft
