Yesterday it was Miss Daggash being celebrated for earning a first class in Engineering yesterday from Oxford, and a few weeks ago it was another brilliant northern gentleman that was similarly being celebrated.

While some are already bitter at the rising trend of Nigerians from the North using their brains to paint our country in brilliant colors thereby puncturing the narrative they love to peddle about the North, we will continue to celebrate the fact that we are developing skilled manpower for a brighter future for the region and Nigeria as a hall. The internet will rewire the northern stereotype in no time.

Worthy achievement no doubt, but you should tell us their background and pedigree before you start sticking it to others. Someone whose parents are political, business and academic elites don't count. Show us started from the bottom now we're here folks.

WHEN I WAS YOUNG ABOUT TO ENTER INTO THE UNIVERSITY,I HAD DREAMS ,I PLANNED MY LIFE, THE TYPE OF JOB I WANTED,WHAT I WOULD GRADUATE WITH,WHEN I WOULD GET MARRIED ETC....BUT MY DEAR LIFE IS REALLY NOT A BED OF ROSES.

MY JOB SEARCH EXPERIENCE:

AFTER MY SERVICE WHICH ENDED JUNE LAST YEAR,I HELD MY HEAD HIGH ,SINCE I GRADUATED WITH A 2:1 FROM THE RIVERS STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY,RIVERS STATE,PORTHARCOURT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED AND ENVIRONMENTAL BIOLOGY I THOUGHT I HAD NO PROBLEM.

I GOT INVITED FOR DIFFRENT JOB INTERVIEWS FROM COMPANIES LIKE GUINESS,COCACOLA ETC BUT NEVER GOT A CALL BACK,SOME SENT ME REJECTION MESSAGES.

THATS HOW ON A FAITHFUL TUESDAY MORNING I GOT A CALL FROM THE MD OF A POPULAR PLASTIC MANUFACTRING FACTORY IN LAGOS STATE ASKING ME TO COME AND GET MY EMPLOYMENT LETTER THAT I HAVE QUALIFIED FOR THE JOB.WHILE I WAS PREPARING TO GO HE PINGED ME AND ASKED ME TO MEET HIM IN A HOTEL AT IKEJA,WITH THE ROOM NUMBER I WAS DAZED.

HE KEPT PINGING ME AND SAYING THINGS LIKE "FINE GIRL WHERE ARE YOU NOW?" "ITS LONELY HERE WITHOUT YOU" I SHOWED MY PARENTS, ANGRILY PULLED MY CLOTHS AND SAT DOWN JEJE IN MY HOUSE.

HE FINALLY CALLED BACK AND I TOLD HIM I WAS NOT COMING ,SINCE THEN I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN.

RIGHT NOW I AM MANAGING A JOB IN A MICROFINANCE BANK AS A TELLER BUT WOULD LOVE A BETTER JOB OR WORK IN MY FIELD IN A MANUFACTURING COMPANY,OIL COMPANY ETC

FINALLY ABEG MUST A GIRL SLEEP AROUND TO GET A JOB? THAT SEEM TO BE THE TREND NOW...FOR ME ITS A NO NO

South: South East, South South and South West = 3 North: North Central, North East and North West = 1. That is why they are united and will always rule us. Their undivided populace will always be their leverage. I am talking to you 'NameCheckers', that are from South East and South West. Do you hear any person from the North complaining that Buhari is giving more appointment to people from North West, north Central or East. Are you telling me that the lopsided appointment is not favouring any particular region in the North? You know as Southerners that we would complain if appoints is giving in the ratio of 3:5 (West:East) LET US BE NIGERIANS, NOT YORUBAS, IGBOs OR HAUSAs. Congratulations girl.

The reason is because the ones who excel in their universities are our best brains. Believe me, kids like this attended some of the best primary and secondary schools here and also graduated top of their classes at undergraduate level here. There are so many half-baked graduates here, due to our poor universities. The ones who excel there are our best brains.
