This is where you won't see the Abdullahads and other Northerners dominating.
In endeavours that actually require hardwork, these people are in perpetual Ghost Mode.
But if na political appointment, you go see dem dey shine their gworo-stained teeth dey talk about "Merit" like they have even the slightest clue what that is.

this list must be inconclusive because it does not reflect the federal character.

You will not see northerners here but if it were politics and appointments, they'll dominate the list.

angry

abbas abubakar abbas got bronze in world championship. even if he did not qualify, his previous rating shows, if he won bronze, he stand a chance of another bronze

it is about taken part. it only happen once 4 years. watch video. there are others to save yourself money. you rent apartment and not go to hotel. and take many people.

and you take many of them. you increase the number of people to increase your chance of winning medal.

it is all about taken part

Egwero Ogho-Oghene

I dont wonno keep picking on this guy (in quote above) in fact, wish him all the best in life and prosperity too - but his name on the list is Nigeria's way of telling you that we made not significant improvement on training from the last Olympics when we won no medals. Remember the last Olympics and how humiliated we all felt when Nigeria picked up no medals? Then we all slated the government and sports organization in the land. Nigerians moaned and cussed Johnathan and complained and offered ideas on how to improve our prospects next time. We all recommended that we add to the collection of events we participate in Olympics: folks recommend rowing, archery, badminton; shooting (we should be good at shooting) hokey, swimming, gymnastics and so on. Complaining throughout the realm was such that, for one moment it seemed that authorities would improve next time. Well, here we are again and, unfortunately, judging by the paltry number of athletes on the list and the inclusion of some tired and Old-gargoos it looks like were going to do worst than last time.

When will Nigeria Authorities stop relying solely on the incredible aptitude and ability of the people and start helping them with investment ? From the military, police, teachers, students and sports people, Nigeria does virtually nothing.

Sorry to burst your bubble, my brother. Hausa-Fulani People engaged in athletics in the 80's. Does the name Yohanna Waziri ring a bell? Waziri was the Marathon Race Champion in Nigeria for many years and he was a Northerner. The Northerners are suitable as long distance runners, like the Kenyans and Ethiopians. Cheers.

I pray Egwero Ogho-Oghone has improved because He will be competing against Usain Bolt,Femi Ogunode who are on blistering form for their countries.Grass root Athletics Development is lacking in Nigeria, there are hidden talents within our public primary and secondary schools that will show the pride of Nigeria to the outside world if properly harnessed and groomed but the system is not encouraging at all.

Seye qualifies for Rio Olympics. Now two-time champion in the 100m, can he be the first Nigerian to break 10s in 10 years when he goes to Rio?
