Our people say that if an anomaly isn't addressed or corrected on time, then with time it could become highly acceptable. I have been observing and watching with keen interest on nairaland how some misguided few have been peddling religious falsehood albeit out of ignorance.

These few, with little biblical knowledge come here to say that Sunday which is (and has always been from creation) the first day of the week is the "Sabbath" day. This isn't only misleading but an attempt to dare God. The seventh day of the week, Saturday, is the only day of the week which is the sabbath day. I have no issues with some Christians who have chosen to worship on Sunday (that is their choice to make), but my problem is when a set of people are trying to distort biblical facts. This needs to stop.

Of a truth, the word "Sabbath" is derived from a Hebrew word meaning rest. The Sabbath day commemorates God's day of rest after He finished creation. It was (still is) a sign of the covenant between God and his people. Read Genesis 2:2-3, Exodus 20:8. The Sabbath day is every seventh day of the week. It is a holy day ordained by God for us to rest from our labours and worship him. The Bible recorded in Luke 23:54-56 that Jesus was crucified on the preparation day (Friday), and women who came with him had to prepare their spices and ointments and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment (the Sabbath begins from sunset on Friday till sunset on Saturday). Now very early in the morning on the first day of the week (Sunday) , they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre (Luke 24:1). We all believe that Jesus resurrected on Sunday, the first day of the week, because the Bible says so.

Note: This post or thread isn't about which day of the week is the right day of worship. However, the purpose is to set the records straight with biblical proof(s) that the seventh day is the Sabbath. The first day of the week, Sunday, has no business being called the Sabbath day. Peace.
