Delta Assembly Adopts Resolutions Of South-south, South-east Joint Session by Chibuzoc(m): 2:18am On Jul 21, 2016
RESOLUTIONS of the joint parliamentary session of the South-South and South-East state Houses of Assembly held in Owerri, Imo State have been adopted by the Delta State House of Assembly.

The joint parliamentary session took resolutions on two key issues affecting the two geo-political zones.

Majority Leader of Delta State House of Assembly, Tim Owhefere moved the motion, which was unanimously adopted during plenary yesterday.

Owhefere, who doubles as the chairman, House Committee on Information, told newsmen after the plenary that the two key issues were the Grazing Reserve Bill before the National Assembly and the Niger Delta question.

He explained that the regional lawmakers condemned the bill on the grazing reserve, as it was another obnoxious Land Use Act that had impacted negatively on the people.

He said it was observed that about 80 percent of land in the geopolitical zones were already covered by oil exploration and exploitation with the attendant pollution, saying that the remaining 20 percent in use for farming and other purposes cannot be ceded for the purpose of cattle grazing.

Owhefere emphasised that the regional legislators rejected the Grazing Reserve Bill, saying it was anti-people of the two zones and challenged the federal lawmakers to do the needful by throwing out the bill for the sake of unity of the country.

On the situation in the Niger Delta region, Owhefere said the joint session took a stand against pipeline vandalism in the area but urged the Federal Government to reassess its present disposition on the issue.

He stated that it was resolved that the federal government should enter into a peaceful dialogue with critical stakeholders in the zones to resolve the dispute and operate within the rules of engagement without incurring collateral damage similar to that of Odi massacre of 1999.

Very good.

I hope our friends from the West will join us.
It's good to have one voice in the entire south.
We need to send a message to the Fulas that we are united too.

....

Watch how my SW friends will tear me apart because of this comment.
They will claim they are fine and don't need Niger Delta or Biafra,

Until a pipeline goes up in flames somewhere in Gbaramatu,
Then Federal Government loses money and sacks people from Ekiti or Osun.
Then it affects everyone.

We depend on oil now and SS cant even carry itself, not to talk of supporting the whole country.

If you turn off the oil and dry up the national revenue from oil exports, Yorubaland singlehandedly can sustain Nigeria. No other region or people has capability to do that.

So who are you that we need to join you, what influence or power do you have from SS/SE to shape national events across Nigeria? cool

Are you guys okay?

Join you kini? A group that hates itself?

Is it by force?

The SW is not interested. Lagos + Osun + Oyo + Ogun + Ondo + Ekiti is not joining y'all. The SW's voice alone is enough to drown these two regions combined.

OSUS, which unity? Even with your "unity", the SW/N still suppressed you in 2015 election. If the SW/N decides to unite against SE/SS, SE will cry the most.

No one is stopping your "unity". Neither the SW nor the North is concerned.

They can't do anything without Yoruba holding their hands, yet they don't have any respect for us.

You would think this is a good news for them that they are finally getting somewhere with their coming together but no they are fixated on Yoruba come rain or shine, they make comparisons day and night with Yoruba and just can't take their eyes off us for a minute.

How exactly are you going to sustain Nigeria single handedly?
What do you produce?
Rice? Tomato? Onions? Meat? Yam?
Give me a name please.

Your cocoa cannot sustain Ekiti State alone.
And don't point to the Airport or Seaport, the moment The South East and North pulls out, only one ship will be offloading every two months in Apapa Wharf. As for the Airport, The BA can be showing up at MM twice a week at most.

Let's be civil and avoid abuse. Just throw your points.

I have said it before, I'll say it again. I don't think is only the fulanis that have the right to rare cattles. Let our ibo brothers begin to invest in this business.

I'll prefer states to map out ranches for cattle rearing, and encourage citizens to venture into the business. This will create competition and it wont be long to prove that we can do it better.

There are better cattles that can produce more milk and meat than the ones the fulanis parade up and down.

When we have those healthy looking cattles in our south south states managed by us, it will naturally place a barn on the fulanis fleece corrupted cattle in the area.

Time to diversify. Invest in cattle rearing and have the problem of grazing bill solved.

Maybe we should make a rule that no body mentions any other tribe on this forum, and see who gets banned first.

Once again, nobody is begging you to join anybody. If you have any sense, you will understand that whether you like it or not, we are all in Southern Nigeria; Both West and East.

We can stay apart and hate each other all we want, afterall nobody is begging for food from the other. But whether you agree or not, the South East aren't rushing to borrow money from you any time soon because apart from Lagos that belongs to everybody, I don't see anywhere else better than the rest.

Right, as if even you can do anything without thinking Yoruba.
Don't tell us where to go just leave us alone, we can make that decision on our own, plus we don't do attached by force like you.

God forbid. I prefer to be in alliance with a stone than to have the SW in any kind of agreement. Please SW can go to their Fulani masters. We in the better south do not need them.

Northern governors from the three regions in the north meet regularly to discuss about the entire north, even though they are bigger than the south geographically.

Two out of the three regions in Southern Nigeria had a meeting, and you are asking what concerned the remaining one.
