i beg your pardon.....??....the chad basin is more secure than the delta for now...

our warriors have to first learn swimming first to force you to reason??.. ...abegi!!!...keep your creeks!!!...africa is gigantic with many resources!!!....

If the government makes a law that people like you should be returned to slavery, won't you say the government is callous?
Give me two reasons why you think you deserve to cohabit with same people?

Right now we largely depend on imported refined petroleum products. Where do we get the money for importation of petrol from?

cktheluckyman:

You will need to make money before paying for the imported crude.So where will that money come from?

C'mon guys let us be a lili bit more analytic with everything we do on here;
Firstly, TO THE ONLINE ND AVENGERS: The nnpc can buy oil from wherever it pleases. For example refineries in eastern Canada are configured to process lighter crudes( eg like bonny light and brent ) than the heavier blends from the tar sands in alberta. These considerations are never political, only economic. Now as to why a refinery that was built in the 90s- when only viable source was light niger delta crude- was configured for heavier crudes speaks to the imbecility of the oil bureaucrats in Nigeria. Face it, they just told Chiyoda corp to build the thing and somehow along the way got kickbacks, it is naija after all. That in itself is very stupid( just saying). Neither Niger nor chad had been producing in the 90s. Hence the only source would have been arabian crudes...... If I may ask with what forex ?

Speaking on forex, with what forex would they buy Niger crude ? lol. their capacity is 20k/day and chad is under 200k or so since peaking at 300k a few years after production in the mid 2000s( helps u wonder makes u wonder how the delta has kept up the 2 million bbl/day since 1972 ish, totally underrated damn). All their oil would not be sold to NNPC, and if we do ask for all we would have to be price takers, spennding way more than can be afforded. The KRPC is an inefficient refining company operating at below 40% capacity. This on its own has nothing to do with militant bombings. Even if they got the crude from . chad and processed it, how are they supposed to capitalize on the heavy crude- light product spread?? The refining business is a low margin world, with those margins coming at high volume/ almost full capacity utilization ( global average of more than 90%, below 98% because of process bottlenecks). Therefore the venture would be doomed from the start( not to mention the restrictive pricing regime, who would foot the payment balances?subsidy? lol) . A corporation that perpetually runs at a loss would use increasingly scarce funds-meant to be remitted to govt - to buy crudes that would sink it into more losses *clapping*

The 445k/day barrels meant for the refineries have historically been offered to the refineries at a discount for the production of high value gasoline and middle distillates to make profit. Now how this 110,000 barrels capacity plant would achieve operational efficiency with high utilization against a backdrop of less than half utilization records is what we should be asking ourselves......Niger and chad would not be PPMC, there would b no discount. The sales of bonny light, pennington, qua iboe and the other blends from the delta is where the funds to buy nger and chad blends would come from. And if i may ask is the refinery configured to process the highly acidic doba blend? The TAN reading on that one is more than 0.7!!!!!!!!!
Raised up acidity because his wouldn't be transported by oil tanker( the cheapest form as measured per 1,000 miles and one of the reasons dangote's refinery would do vey well), it would come through either rail cars or pipeline( acidity would mean variable costs for pipeline expenses, more than normal maintenance frequency). For what specs is this refinery actually configured? Everything just jaga jaga.

As for Niger Deltans the key here isn't gloating on the dependency of nnpc on the sale of the blends found there. It should be how to get the PIB to pass. Get investment pouring into our communities and kickstart activity in the gas business. The future of west african power generation will be nigeria(niger delta) gas ( at least 30-40% alone). The mistake sof oil cannot be repeated. As for KRPC; it is ridiculous how much folly is embodied in that refinery.
- Re configure
-Increase capacity
-Wait for the gestation period in which efficiency can be achieved.

That is all. Anybody know much about the Petroleum energy economics masters at uni of Ibadan Wanna apply to it.
