From the reports of the incident, the NA went there to arrest Elzakky for what had happened earlier ie blocking of road, wielding of weapons, etc. Unfortunately, when they got there, they were met with severe resistance by IMN. That escalated into the killings.

If IMN had not blocked the road, if they had not wielded weapons against the NA, if they had allowed NA to arrest Elzakky, all the killings would have been avoided.

It was a sad event, but you shouldn't have blocked a military convoy carrying the COAS in a hostile territory in the first place, while carrying arms and unyielding to all pacification for a peaceful passage.
