So you didn't hear of MASSOB since the days of OBJ? What did you think MASSOB was fighting for? The unity of Nigeria?
Simple write up you cannot read and comprehend. The question is why didn't all the agitation by NBA and biafra occur during GEJ era?
So don't deviate the topic.

@OP there was no genuine agitation for Biafra and there is still none. It's politics rooted in the inability of some people to hold on to power. Hopefully they will be exposed soon for all of us to know.

Go and eat from your mama's pot before coming here to vomit trash.

@op
Biarfa Zoinists tried to overthrow Enugu State Government and to declare the restoration of Biafra until they were overpowered by the combined team of Police and Soldiers during Jonathan's administration,

In Niger Delta, Ogoni Declared Self rule and this also happened during Jonathan's administration.

Jonathan employed wisdom in solving these crises while Buhari is trying to use force hence he escalated the crises.

Ogoni Declares "Self-Government"

“We are acting with legitimacy to reclaim all of our rights, without exception,” says Goodluck Diigbo.

Jubilations are continuing throughout Ogoniland after the Ogoni people in southern Nigeria, today, Thursday, 2nd of August declared political autonomy.

In a live broadcast on a newly established radio station: Voice of Ogoni, MOSOP President/Spokesman, Dr. Goodluck Diigbo vowed that:“By this declaration of political autonomy, we, the Ogoni people are determined to enforce the United Nations Declaration on Rights of Indigenous Peoples, without fear or retreat,” Diigbo said.   Diigbo affirmed that self-government within Nigeria will secure for the Ogoni people, their indigenous rights, enable them to meet their needs and interests and finally end internal colonialism.   Diigbo said self-government became urgent recognizing the need to arrive at a consensus to collectively review the disputed UNEP Ogoniland Oil Assessment report, because any dialogue must be with the genuinely elected representatives of the people expected to enforce indigenous rights without dictation.   In the broadcast, Diigbo further underscored the reason for the urgency of self-government for Ogoni:
“Concerned that in the absence of a responsive government that the indigenous people of Ogoni will continue to suffer from historic injustices.”   Diigbo stated: “In order to make indigenous rights practicable in Ogoni, we have through a very transparent electoral college process, beginning with community by community elections, set up 272 village councils, while the village councils in turn elected representatives for 33 district councils and the district representatives went on to elect representatives to serve at the center as custodians of customs and traditions, otherwise called lawmakers.”   “The law makers in turn elected the executive arm of the Ogoni Central Indigenous Authority (OCIA) with checks and balances inbuilt to ensure corruption-free, effective, efficient and answerable system of grassroots self-government instead of the old, corrupt and mismanaged local government system endured by the Ogoni for decades,” Diigbo explained.   “In taking these measures, we are quite aware of the discomfort to about 56 local politicians that control local government politics in Ogoni, however, we care more about the 1.2 million people that have for too long been excluded,” he stated.   He announced that a Transitional Committee was already set up to facilitate dialogue to ensure peaceful transition, within 30 days, while consultation with the national government and international community begins without delay.   Diigbo emphasized the need for Ogonis to remain law-abiding and act nonviolently; saying “we are acting with legitimacy to reclaim all of our rights, without exception, and for the sake of peace and security; let no one test the collective will of the Ogoni people, because we will not surrender our indigenous rights anymore.”   Excerpts:   In 1990, we the people of Ogoni presented the Ogoni Bill of Rights to the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in which the Ogoni nonviolently demanded among other indigenous rights:

·         Political autonomy to participate in the affairs of the Republic as a distinct and separate indigenous unit (by whatever name called), provided that this autonomy guarantees political control of Ogoni affairs by Ogoni people; The right to control and use a fair proportion of Ogoni economic resources for Ogoni development; adequate representations, as of right, in all Nigerian national institutions, and the right to protect the Ogoni environment and ecology from further degradation as recognized under international law to which Nigeria is obligated.   Nigeria, a multi-ethnic nation state, a legacy of the British colonial administration, granted political independence October 1, 1960, after the British violated Ogoni independence in 1901, did not respond to the Ogoni, inhabiting their ancestral land in southern Nigeria.   When in the struggle for indigenous political autonomy; especially, in matters concerning confiscation of sacred ancestral lands for oil production without prior informed consent, there comes a moment to assert powers derived from the consent of the people and Nature’s blessings in order to protect, preserve and pass on inherited sacred ancestral heritage to succeeding indigenous generations. On behalf of the entire Ogoni people, I am highly honored to present these issues surrounding the proposed Ogoni Declaration of Political Autonomy.

Part of Full Text

30.  That despite the fact that the “Nigerian Constitution” and other laws and policies provide for a local government system, in reality, the local government constitutional provisions meant to extend the principle of Federalism to its logical conclusion, by bringing the government to the grassroots level, do not apply in Ogoniland as a result of corruption and public deception by local and state political actors and the lack of enforcement of the shaky “Nigerian constitution” by the federal government;

31.  That, this is because quite often local governments are frequently dissolved in Ogoniland without any explanation rendered to the Ogoni people;

32.  That, essential appointments into local government service are often suspended for several years without information to the Ogoni people about the reason for such suspension, when the local authorities still operate budgetary provisions for needed manpower;

33.  That the elected representatives who have supported this proposed declaration of political autonomy for the Ogoni people as they have bitterly complained that the present system of local government in Nigeria does not allow them the freedom to govern according to the wishes of the people;

34.  That individual local government chairman has to remit monthly allowances in substantial amounts to those politicians at the state and national levels that put them into office;

35.  That since local government operators are often imposed on the people, they, the local operators are required to compensate for the way they are often put into office through massive and violent rigging of elections;

36.  That in the circumstance, the local operators, expected to respond to yearnings of their grassroots constituencies have become perpetually vulnerable to threats of illegal removal from office without reference to the electorate;

37.  That, we the Ogoni people take very serious, the complaint by the Ogoni local officials that have confessed that they still hold office because they are able to settle their political godfathers, meaning political stalwarts that planted them as conduit pipe for siphoning funds meant to help in the development of Ogoni villages and wellbeing of Ogonis;

38.  That the application indigenous rights will end this manner of abuse of power and mismanagement of public resources as the representatives of the people have been duly elected by the people in Ogoni, and controlled by the people and to end the system whereby politicians handpicked by political operators at the national and state levels, remain in office without accountability to the people as long as they satisfy those who put them into office.

39.  That the local government employees, some in service for over 30 years cannot even afford a good meal with their families, but have seen politicians that come into the local councils buying houses in Port Harcourt and Abuja, even in overseas countries within six months in office.

40.  That we believe that the Ogoni people are equal to all other Nigerians that now lord it over the Ogoni by means of indirect internal colonial rule through the corrupt local government system, which violates indigenous rights of the Ogoni people.   Concluding Declaration:   “Now, therefore, acting on the General Assembly mandate on the questions relating to the Political Autonomy of Ogoni in southern Nigeria, and in the spirit of the General Assembly motion DPA/001/2012, and its resolutions DPA/002/2012 and DPA/003/2012 adopted and approved on July 31, 2012; in accordance with the wishes of the Ogoni people contained in the Ogoni Bill of Rights of 26 August, 1990 as revised on the 26th of August 1991; expressing the collective will of the good people of Ogoni in the referendum of 2010 and the second referendum of 2011, obeying the command by the Ogoni people and  their elected representatives from 33 district councils, comprising over 272 village councils, living in the six kingdoms of Ogoni, namely: Babbe, Eleme, Gokana, Kenkhana, Nyokhana and Tai and two administrative units: Ban Goi and the Bori National Territory; conducting this solemn affair in accordance with the United Nations Declaration on Rights of Indigenous Peoples adopted by United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 13, 2007, guided by the purposes and principles of international law in accordance with the United Nations Charter, I, Dr. Goodluck Diigbo, hereby make this historic statement, to announce the proclamation of this General Assembly Declaration of Political Autonomy for the Self-determination or Self-government of the Ogoni people within Nigeria, today, the 2nd Day of August, 2012. So declared, and so be it; for the advancement of liberty in freedom and the preservation of the ancestral heritage of the Ogoni people.”   Thank you.   Signed by: Dr. Goodluck Diigbo MOSOP President/Spokesman   Contact: Tambari Deekor Associate Editor, MOSOP Media tdeekor88@gmail.com

When Biafra Zionists laid siege on Enugu
By Tony Adibe, Enugu | Publish Date: Jun 14 2014 12:13PM

“As I said, the raising of the flag at the Government House is a symbol of the resurrection of the Republic of Biafra which we did on the 8th of March 2014.”
These were the words of the leader of Biafra Zionist Movement (BZM), Mr. Benjamin Igwe Onwuka. BZM is a break-away group of the Chief Ralph Uwazuruike-led Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB).

Onwuka, said to be a United Kingdom-trained lawyer, reportedly had a misunderstanding with the MASSOB boss bordering on money issues. But the manner he and his group are going about their crusade leaves a question mark on his credibility as a legal practitioner, according to residents of Enugu, where the Biafran flag was hoisted.

A source close to the BZM camp, who pleaded anonymity, accused Onwuka of being over ambitious and wanting to carve out his own autonomy where he can have control. But a different version also said that Onwuka parted ways with Uwazuruike because the latter allegedly deviated from the real struggle they all embarked upon.

Sometime last year, the BZM leader reportedly declared the resurrection of the defunct Republic of Biafra at a certain primary school premises in a remote part of Coal Camp, Enugu. He and his group made noise around the ancient city, and a section of the media also reported the event.

But the police went hunting for him, insisting that Onwuka could not have declared another republic in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Onwuka and his group disappeared and went underground. Ever since, not much was heard about the group.

And like a bolt from the blues, in the early hours of March 8, 2014, the BZM members and their leader stormed Enugu Government House. They miraculously held the Lion Building hostage for quite some time. They hoisted the flags and banners of the defunct Republic of Biafra.

After three days, Onwuka and two of his subordinates made a dramatic re-appearance at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre on Rangers Avenue, Enugu. They addressed a news conference claiming responsibility for the invasion of the Government House.

The leader of the ‘Zionists’ said that they successfully occupied the Enugu State seat of power for over four hours and accomplished their mission.

Onwuka boasted: “I want to let you know what happened on March 8 at the Government House Enugu. This is to confirm the true report about what happened. You know very well that since January 12, 1970, the flag of Biafra has never rested on the Government House in Enugu which is the centre power of the Biafran people.

“What we did on the 8th is to reconfirm the independence of the Republic of Biafra which we successfully did.

“We didn’t attack the Government House, but we captured it back for the Biafran people. We captured it for four hours and there was a battle between the Biafrans and the Nigerians and by 7a.m., we retreated because we didn’t have any weapons in our hands, to avoid any loss of life.

“The reason we did it was to show the Biafran people that the hope for Biafra is still alive and that nothing shall quench the aspiration of the Biafran people to be independent. That independence has been resurrected. So the Biafran flag was raised at the Government House on the 8th of March, 2014 and I, Benjamin Igwe Onwuka led the operation.

“It wasn’t an armed attack on the Government House, it wasn’t kidnappers as the police have said. It was Biafran people and the Biafra Zionist Federation led it and I, Benjamin Onwuka was the man that pioneered it. It wasn’t an attack on any one, but for the restoration of the independence of the Republic of Biafra.

Onwuka further said: “I want the Biafran people to know and the entire world that Biafra has been resurrected and no force of arm could hinder this aspiration for Biafra.

Let me make it clear. The states that will make up Biafra now are Benue, Kogi, Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Anambra, Enugu, Imo and Abia and Southern Ondo.

All the same, the state police command declared Onwuka wanted for the invasion of the Government House but he could not be seen in the state until he resurfaced at the state radio station on June 5.

Just like in the invasion in March, the Zionists struck again in the early hours of June 5 at the Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS) in an attempt to seize the radio and television station for a broadcast.

The move was however, foiled by a team of policemen who were alerted by some staff of the station, who arrived for morning duty and met their premises under siege.

But a police sergeant and a member of BZF were killed in a shootout while a police inspector who led the team was seriously wounded.

Leader of the group, Onwuka and 12 members of his gang were apprehended as they tried to escape from the station after the clash with the police. They are undergoing interrogation at the Criminal Investigations Department of the state police command.

Witnesses said the BZM members in an operation similar to the March 8 invasion, stormed the premises of the station through the fence at about 5 am and held the security men and staff on night shift hostage.

It was gathered that they forcefully entered the offices including the studios and made attempts to put on the equipment for a live broadcast by the BZM leader but unknown to them the television had been off air for two days, while they were unable to have access to the radio station which was broadcasting at the time.

“While they were struggling with the staff, four policemen who got wind of the invasion arrived at the premises in two patrol cars and moved into the station to confront them. Soon after they got into the building we started hearing gunshots and people were running helter-skelter,” one witness said.

“There was heavy shooting but I don’t know if the BZM members were armed. At the end we saw the corpse of a police sergeant and a member of the group on the floor. The police inspector who sustained injuries on his head was immediately taken away by his colleagues,” the witness added.

Their mission unaccomplished, Onwuka and his men escaped through the Universal Hotel road on foot. But some mobile policemen deployed to the scene from the Government House - about a kilometre away – gave them a hot chase into the bush behind some government offices near the State House of Assembly Complex and apprehended them.
Addressing reporters while parading the leader of the movement, with 12 members of the group, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abubakar Mohammed, said the summary of the CD Rom containing their already prepared speech, which was recovered, showed that they wanted to overthrow the Enugu state government.

“They wanted to appeal to all the boys in Enugu state to come out. They wanted to order all schools to be closed. They wanted to order all the markets closed and all the elected officers to surrender their mandate. So they wanted to overthrow the government,” Mohammed said.

He warned that any group of people that was ready to confront constituted authority would never be tolerated in the state.

Governors of the south-east last week condemned in strong terms the attack by BZM members.

Governors Sullivan Chime (Enugu), Theodore Orji (Abia), who is also chairman of the governors meeting, Martin Elechi (Ebonyi) and the deputy governors of Imo and Anambra States, Mr. Eze Madumere, and Dr. Nkem Okeke respectively, condemned the actions of Onwuka and his group.

The governors also resolved to collaborate with one another in order to fight insecurity within the zone.

“The Southeast Governors will continue to collaborate with each other in the area of security; security is important to us, and we have agreed that we shall collaborate to make sure that we fight insecurity, kidnapping, armed robbery and all evils of insecurity within our zone,” Governor Orji told reporters after their meeting.

Also, the Concerned Igbo Leaders of Thought led by Prof. Ben Nwabueze, joined the governors in condemning the BZM. In a statement issued in Enugu, the group warned the Zionists and others not to overheat the polity.

It said the act of seizing a broadcasting house to announce a republic is not the proper way to express anger and frustration.

“We warn Igbo youths preparing for or planning whatever demonstrations to shelve the idea, as such action will only encourage our already misguided folks, who erroneously believe that secession or disintegration will help the situation,” the leaders warned. “We advise those indoctrinating them along these lines to retrace their steps.”

The Enugu Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, said the case of the Zionists would be transferred to the Force C.I.D., Abuja for further investigations.
