I won't stop saying it, Nairaland in particular and Nigeria in general is full of people incapable of putting things in context.
The issue is not about naming your pets as you deem fit. It's about doing it to deliberately provoke a reaction. Cynically inscribing a person's name on a pet to spite him/her, especially in an area dominated by his ethnic group is an invitation to chaos and breakdown of law and order.

My brother, you need to take a seat.

This is a secular society, nobody has the privilege of any name. We must preach tolerance rather than kowtowing to everybody.

There would have been some sense to this claim if he had named his dog - Allah or Moh'd or something like that.
Buhari is not a god. His name is not holy
Besides, Mr. Joe has claimed that he named the dog Buhari because the president is his hero. The complainant is aggrieved because Buhari is his father's name.

We are setting a dangerous precedent. Tomorrow, I will send the police to arrest you because your moniker is Dropshot and Dropshot was my father's name.

Keep on accommodating them, you hear! That was how some fanatics desecrated a church in Niger state because . . . they were worshiping on Friday. Don't worry, we don't want to offend them so we won't worship on Friday again.

As much as I try to condemn the president's supposed tyrannical act, we should be objective as well. His crime was not in naming his dog Buhari but in writing or inscribing it on the dog's body. It is an act of disrespect and gross indisciplne.
