Most importantly he is responsible for the misguided Ujamaa policy that makes Tanzania one of poorest countries in the world and largely responsible for the collapse of East Africa. Nyerere legacy lives on...and Tanzania remain dull, laggard, lazy and primitive.

Nyerere had same vision of unifying africa together with Emperor Selasie and Kwame nkurumah of Ghana.That thief(kenyatta) who stole kenyas land he was against it.He was a tribalist.Thats why kenya is still a tribalist society.

I just don't know why you guys are arguing. To be honest am really mad that Kenyan said this to Julius Nyrere, but because they said that, you weren't supposed to be against Jomo Kenyatta

Its surprising for Kenyans to realise the majority of Africans have no nyama choma culture! Slaughtering,butchering,roasting etc,etc most niggas have no idea! Example,someone I know worked at a Kampala butchery and swore those mofos didn't even know how to properly skin and separate the shoulder! I swear I've seen a photo of a Naijjan here roasting an unskinned goat!

Nyerere destroyed Tanzania economy by adopting socialism; the same way Mao of China did or Haile Selasie & Megistu did. In his wake he left a completely bankrupt country he really had no option but step down.If he didn't he would have been kicked out like Haile Selasie.

Kenyatta opted for free-enterprise - and gave kenya a solid foundation it now has. Nyerere also largely contributed to collapse of EAC by his wars with Amin & Kenyatta.

But yes he did discourage tribalism and united Tanzania. We are yet to see how far united they are - because like your country Ethiopia - there is really no democracy there.

So sorry I really don't see how Nyerere succeeded where
1) He did not set the country on a democratic foundation - CCM the ruling party - still ran the show in TZ and opposition really has no chance in hell of ever beating CCM social/economic machine.

2) He destroyed the nascent TZ economy.Subsequently TZ leaders have tried to correct the disastrous economic policies with measured success.

Kenyan leaders are not heavy on ideologies ; but more on common-sensical approach that advance our interest.

He did so many bad things to my people and I will never forget that. I just chose to let go. So why not admire what Julius Nyrere did (the good things). Why keep mentioning his weakness. . .he may have thousands that you haven't mentioned.

Nyerere was a big fool, not a visionary. You can see to date his people still think backwards and have been reduced to copy pasting their neighbors achievements.

As always you never know what you say, Bongoman. KQ doesnt have leased planes in its livery, instead it has leased planes to other airlines like Turkish Airlines and Oman Air, to navigate some particularly harsh economic times, i.e to cut costs basically. Airlines regularly do this. Its actually a very crucial business acumen. Otherwise airlines around the world would go under every so often. Just incase you must know, 49 % of all commercial jet aircrafts globally are on leasehold. Thats how the industry works. When you own just 4 planes in a whole country you woudnt understand such nitty gritties. The airline industry is one hell of a horrible industry. It operates like a pendulum. Today you are doing superb and tomorrow you are struggling to maintain your fleet of jumbos. If you dont lease you go broke, like your former airways (and the Nigerian one). I hope this time you have learned something. Because if it goes broke again we will acquire your entire airline and show you how to avoid brokeness.

Lol,how is Japanese Yen involved here?
Do you even know why Japan has one of the weakest currencies in the world yet it's among the top ten big economies of the world?
It's because a country like Japan has a large wave of cheap skilled labour that is able to provide affordable commodities ranging from fishing to technology sectors for other countries in the world.They tend to have more cheap exports than imports and that's why they lower their currency intentionally to make the export market cheaper for other countries because the cash inflow from the sale of exports is huge enough.

For Tanzania's case,your export market isn't even that effective to reach the other side of the world,leave alone the world but outside east Africa,the population of unskilled labour is too high to produce effective and standard goods.
The so called ujamaa policy has made your economy to be paralyzed with some poorly laid economic implementation,Tanzania tend to have more imports than exports despite their weak export market.This makes your lame country to have high cash outflows.
Interests rate is also a weighing factor here cause low interest rates attracts few foreign investors.
