first of all.... Africa is poor because u're told that Africa is poor. Our pattern of life is quite different from developed nations lifestyle and they use their lifestyle to judge africa.
An old man in an African village is seen as a poor because he doesn't spend some money and lacks some basic amenities but that same old man can afford to feed himself, his family, send his children to school and everything he want to do, he's actually not poor by africa standard but seen as poor by....

Secondly, most african leaders are reactive and not proactive when it comes to economy n leadership, they let IMF and World bank dictate their monetary affairs.

Can't type much epistle right now.

You are so right. Culture has a way of influencing your standard and pattern of living. We in africa always want copy the western world just so we would convince them that we are advancing. I could give multiple examples on my point you know

You're so thick, high living standards is achieved by how the economic wealth is evenly spread in a country or rather income per head, purchasing power parity and levels of life expectancy.
Take for instance Equatorial Guinea which has the highest GDP per capita in Africa yet it's not even among the African countries with strong military and economy, this clearly depicts citizens of Equatorial Guinea are enjoying a higher standards of living than other Africans, the amount of resources it has is directly proportionate to its less population, so can you say that Equatorial Guinea has a high living standards due to its military strength?
This is silly reasoning.

The main reason why Africa is still sprouting slowly in terms of development is due to BAD LEADERSHIP AND CORRUPTION cause if you claim it to be Low IQ then why are some South American countries like Guyana, Peru, Ecuador
still poor like church mouse just like some African nations?
Africa has the most productive young population in the world, youths are the future of the continent.Human resources we have it at best with continent's frontier markets taking the mantle.
Africa too is the fastest growing continent in the world now that we're yet to establish our potentials as most foreign investors are setting their foot in Africa to take advantage of the untapped opportunities, so what the hell are you talking about with your low IQ issues?
By the way, Tanzania is among the least corrupt African nations but it's stupidly backward when compared to Kenya, you'd wonder what's wrong with Tanzania.

You're the one showing us how low your IQ is.

Here we go again with the low IQ... When did i say equatorial guinea had high living standard due go its military? Again with the failing IQ. And Equatorual guinea is a poor country economically, majority of the people there are poor and live in slums. Just because you have high GDP per capita doesn’t mean everyone gets a hold of that benefit, only rich people in the oil industris and government do, Botswana on the other hand has a higher living standard because the wealth is distributed amongst the people.

If tribalistic and corrupt kenya where which every year loses 1 trillion shillings to corruption is not stupid then i dont know why. Your mentality is exactly why Africa is a failed place, low IQ people live in Africa. You can’t even differentiate bad leadership from good. As already said, the problem of Africa is africans, majority have low IQ.

You low IQ africans will be our doom, you are so used to corruption and incompetence that once you get leadership you are quick to critisize him without any knowledge and the westerners can easily use your low IQ at their advantage to make you believe that he’s a dictator through their media when infact his for his people and the justify a coup later on which will make that country remain poor. This is why so many good african presidents were ousted in coups, because of low IQ africans. Let me break the article for you.

This is pure propaganda and nothing more, the reason they are attacking Magufuli is because he's shown that he is not a western puppet and one of few african presidents who care to develope his country. They spread propaganda such as that Magufulis government has banned live broadcast of debates in Parliament while no, it has moved it air in the next morning because it was expensive and anyone who follows Magufuli knows he wants to reduce cost at everything, just like it was the reason he banned civil servants from traveling to foreign countries to save money, and he is the only african president who dont travel outside of africa and only did it once for U.N meating and takes public airplanes. The result has been that Tanzania has been able to finance its own rail infrastructure instead of asking for big loans like countries such as Kenya has which wish it had Magufuli's government instead its corrupt one which robs from the people and they recently bought new airplanes for Air Tanzania with that money. Even the IMF rapport was pure propaganda which is why Tanzania didn't accept it and the IMF somehow managed to leak it. They have appologized to Tanzania and say they will correct it to protray the true reality of tanzanian economic growth. Here is the truth about Tanzanian economy from the African development bank:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Is7WdnUxeHs

I'm not Tanzanian but the Tanzanian people have benefited greatly from John Magufuli. You shuld not follow this propaganda news article which try to protray the only african president who cares about developing his nation as a dictator. Its important that you do your own research of Magufuli and Tanzania instead of blindly belieaving this piece of propaganda article. The article links sources which itself has bent to fit its naratives, It makes one believe that Magufuli is creating laws to imprisson his opponenents and critics while their own source quotes that those same laws were created before Magufuli came into power, like the Cybercrimes Act passed in 2015 by the previous president Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete before Magufuli came into office and that According to Tanzania’s penal code, “any person who uses obscene, abusive or insulting language to any other person in such a manner as is likely to cause a breach of the peace” faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail.

The article try to make it seem like Magufuli was behind the people such as Mohammed Dewji being kidnapped, and that these events are not investigated by the authorities, but just recently it was Magufuli who reignited the search for Mohammed Dewji kidnappers after the investigation had started to fade away from the public sphere and ordered the police to bring answers to the many questions left behind in the kidnapping. If he was apart of the kidnapping why would he do that? Wouldn't he be happy that the event had started to fade away from the public sphere? [https://www.thecitizen.co.tz/.../1840340.../index.html]

The article then go on talking about how 85 percent of Tanzanians believe that corruption had declined the latest years, which is what Magufuli is hailed for and at the same time talk about how Magufulis support has plummeted. You see at the end of the article they point out ''Fabian, like 58 percent of the electorate, voted for Magufuli in 2015'' as away to manipulate one to think that Magufulis support in Tanzania is not big at all while it is. The latest Tanzanian election was kind of special in that, the country's dominant ruling party[CCM], selected Works Minister John Magufuli as its presidential nominee instead of the front-runner, former Prime Minister Edward Lowassa whom was forced to resign his Prime Minister post in 2008 due to corruption. After failing to secure the CCM's nomination, Lowassa defected to the opposition Chadema party and was selected as its nominee despite it once labelling him as "one of the most corrupt figures in Tanzanian society". So the election become one of the most competetive and unpredictible in tanzanias history since Edward Lowassa was already well known politician of his former party CCM but had defected to the opposition party while Magufuli did not have a following before his nomination as CCM’s standard-bearer or much of a public profile. Many believed that he only won the nomination as a compromise candidate, but i can assure you the support for Magufuli has risen in the aftermath of ''Magufulication'' of Tanzania.

It mentions that Magufuli has made life harder for farmers of cashew nuts by removing middlemen which is not true, the farmers were being exploited by the middlemen who bought the cashew nuts at very low prices which made operational costs higher than what was offered for the produce. Magufuli increased the price of cashew nuts and the farmers can sell to the government if the private buyers refuse to buy at the higher price, while the government is reviving local factories which can process these cashew nuts. It mentions also that Magufuli fining a mining company which has been looting Tanzanias wealth for decades will chase away investment, when the true reality is that the action will only make those who come to Tanzania to steal its wealth think twice about doing that. There are no legit buisnesses in Tanzania which the Tanzanian government has wen't after.

Magufuli has actually managed to make Tanzania an independent african country[very few are] and actually use his brain unlike the many african rulers[not leaders]. He refused to sign the Economic Partnership Agreement with EU which was not intended to help African countries to grow economically, while its neighbouring country Kenya has signed it, and described the agrement as a "form of colonialism''. Its the action of an independent african leader which has made him a target for the west. It's not a secret that common sense isn't always present with the african rulers, just some weaks ago when Notre dame was burning you had several of the african rulers donating millions to for the reparation of the building while its citizens were starving but also while one of the worst cyclone ever recorded in Africa was happening in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi, which left more than 1,000 people dead and thousands more missing. While all that was happening, Magufulis Tanzania was the fist african nation and one of few in Africa to send food and medicin to help the victims. Magufuli is doing wonders for Tanzania and many african countries need Magufulication of their nations.

Mbaku!!! I dont have time to read all this. These kind of long essays (umbeya) is why Africa is so behind. But frankly speaking, thanks for spicing up the thread grin Mchuzi grin You are measurably smarter than kazi because if kazi typed a similar long essay he would drop dead after utilizing all his neurons.

Anyway, your (Tanzania's) refusal to sign the EPA is only well meaning from Tanzania's nothing-to-lose point of view. You have nothing to export to EU and the little you have you export there duty free because - wait for it- you are a least developed country! You and your peers in the region would never understand Kenya's point of view even if we gave you a light year,,, and somehow you try to lecture us on independence. There are levels to this shii. We dont have the luxury you have. We have to pay 25% export tariff to EU simply because we are middle income country while all you need to do is take your goods (whatever goods) to Europe and sell them anywhere without paying tax. How would we ever see the EPA from the same point of view? You know nothing about EPA stop trying to play smart with stupid Magufulinomics. We've seen it before.

In the short run, Kenya will be the biggest loser if Tanzania makes good its threat not to sign the partnership agreement by October 1, 2016. Unlike its partners in the EAC, Kenya is considered a lower-middle-income country. Without the agreement, Kenyan exports would therefore be subject to at least 25% taxation across the EU market. But exports from other EAC member states would continue enjoying the “Everything But Arms” trade arrangement with the EU.

Tanzania, expected to attain middle-income status by 2025, could also lose in the long run once its nascent manufacturing industries have picked up. As a middle-income nation, it would be required to negotiate new trade deals for its exports to the EU market, just like Kenya.

Tanzania should therefore find a way to balance its current protectionist policies with the interests of its partners. This fosters continued integration and erases the notion that it is overly hell bent on undercutting Kenya’s economic dominance in the region, as some pundits in the region suggest.

Kenya may yet escape punishing tariffs in trade with the EU. A member of the EU delegation to the 14th United Nations Trade and Development Conference in Nairobi suggested new measures to offer Nairobi temporary relief. That gives the EAC member states time to negotiate and agree to a deal as a bloc.

Kenya has the biggest stake in the EPA, because it is a middle-income country and, without the protection of the deal, it would have to start paying duty for its exports to Europe.

The other EAC member-states are classified as Least Developed Countries and can export anything but arms to Europe duty-free.

Kenya is now lobbying its EAC partners to enforce the EPA on an individual basis rather than as a bloc to allow those that have not signed to sort out their issues.

Experts warn that signing the agreement as individual countries would weaken the region’s rules of origin and give rise to partner states operating on different trading regimes, a situation that is likely to compromise efforts towards regional integration.

Pushing peers

According to a source privy to the discussions in Arusha, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta was pushing his peers to sign on to the deal at the Summit.

“President Kenyatta said he could not go back to tell Kenyans that the EAC leaders had, once again, failed to sign the crucial deal,” the source said.

The Summit, however, decided to allow Tanzania four months to resolve its issues.

Another matter that came up was trade barriers, with the longstanding dispute between Kenya and Tanzania over tobacco being discussed at length.

Tanzania levies 80 per cent duty on Kenyan tobacco. Confectionery, too, attracts duty with the Dar administration saying that the industrial sugar used in the manufacture of these goods would not be given duty-free access.

The Summit tasked the ministers of trade to discuss the matter and find a solution.

Guy with the lowest IQ ranting, what's the meaning of GDP per capita?
It's the measure of economic output per person in a country, that makes it the best measurement of a country's standard of living. It tells you how prosperous a country feels to each of its citizens.
Stop proving to us how illiterate and stupid you are.
You earlier said that Africa cannot achieve high standards of living without strong military and economy, so why refute this yet you're the one who was stupidly claiming so?
I was just using equatorial guinea as a case example, a country with a higher standards of living relatively enjoys a better lifestyle than a country with low standards of living as purchasing power parity is much reflected here!

Where did you get those false figures of Kenyan funds lost through graft?
Are you talking for the sake to win an argument or?
Check the latest corruption index, Kenya is not even among the top 20 corrupt African nations!
Tribalism?? Bullshit keep on peddling lies here.

We might be corrupt but you'll never ever get close to Kenya, it's a bitter fact and there's nothing you'll do about it you lazy maguFOOL.

You have already been told that measured IQ is not genetic but rather a factor of environment (development). Even at that your country still has a lower IQ, overall, than Kenya, which tells you that you should quit calling others low IQ. You can start calling people low IQ from Tanzania downwards. The reason why KEnya loses a trillion shs annually and still outperforms Tanzania is because Kenyans have a higher IQ than Tanzanians, which means they utilize the little that remains to do sensible agenda-driven development. No one is denying Africans have a low IQ on average than the rest, but there's levels. Every country differs from the next.
