Nigeria- This video captured President Bola Tinubu's convoy passing through a market on Lagos Island, eliciting mixed reactions from residents and traders. On December 29, 2023, Tinubu, during his December holiday visit, passed through the popular Idumota market on Lagos Island. Residents and traders expressed their frustrations and dissatisfaction, shouting in Yoruba “Ebi npa wa o” meaning “We are hungry,” as his convoy drove by. This response was notably different from the usual energetic displays and excitement that presidential convoys often receive.

The video, which surfaced on social media on December 30, 2023, showed President Tinubu's convoy navigating through the bustling lanes of the market. The convoy was described as comprising over 120 vehicles, including exotic SUVs like Range Rovers and Toyota Land Cruisers, as well as pickup trucks, ambulances, sedans, mini buses, and BRT buses. The convoy primarily consisted of VIPs, party members, and supporters, reflecting a significant show of opulence. However, the public's reaction highlighted their concerns about economic hardships and policy impacts under President Tinubu's administration, especially the end of the fuel subsidy regime and the resultant spiraling inflation and food price hikes

Away from the usual dixk measuring some food for thought.

What if the Bantu expansion had not occurred as it did, leading to the spread of Bantu people across much of Africa?

Africa would have been another Australia, another North America. Assuming the course of European history unravelled as we know it, the continent would have became another Atlanticist entity.

God made the African Bantu speakers and their West/Central African siblings a naturally strong, dominant race. They were resistant to the old-world plagues that European settlers introduced around the world. In fact, it is this natural tenacity that led to their tragic mass-enslavement throughout the Americas and Asia.

In contrast, people like the Hadza, the Khoi-Khoi or the San, who were in Africa before Bantus came to be, were bands of hunter-gatherers who would have been wiped out easily after colonization. They were no different to Australian or Tasmanian Aboriginals. Tasmanian Aboriginals are already wiped out due to European presence-not a single soul survived.

If you fail to imagine how this would have happened, just take a look into South Africa's history. Boers (Dutch colonialists), upon their arrival in the Cape of good hope, did not immediately start colonizing the Bantu-dominated east. Instead, they chose to steal land from the Khoi-Khoi- who were severely depopulated at the wake of an European smallpox epidemic.

The remaining Khoi tried to resist, but their social organization was irredeemably shattered due to contact with Europeans. They eventually became slaves to the Dutch on their own land i.e. were made to farm those lands.

Others served the Boers in various other ways. One among these was Sarah Bartman. Many Khoi-San mixed with the Europeans and created the “coloured" community. Meanwhile, others fled and assimilated into neighbouring Bantu tribes like Xhosa and Tswana. Few fled to Namibia to join their remaining brethren - only to be crushed by the Germans.

If you try to study the modern history of the Khoi, you may notice that what happened to them is basically the same thing that happened to American Indians in North and South America. I think the only difference between the two stories lies in the nitty-gritty details.

The descendants of Khoi herders in Western Cape are a severely endangered race today. Only certain thousands of pure-blood Khoi remain.

Yea so true.

Taliban Responds to Kenya in Ksh 68 Billion Trade War with Pakistanis addicted to Kenyan tea

Taliban authorities have dissociated themselves from billions worth of black tea being smuggled to Pakistan through Afghanistan.

Pakistan publication The Nation, reporting from Islamabad, stated that Afghan authorities shrugged off accusations from Kenya that the country was benefiting from black tea. This was despite a 159 per cent spike in smuggled Kenyan black tea to Afghanistan during the fiscal year 2022-23.

Afghan authorities told their Kenyan counterparts that the use of black tea in their country was negligible and attributed the imports to Pakistan businessmen under the guise of Afghanistan Transit Trade (ATT).

Kenya is incurring losses due to rogue traders smuggling tea to Pakistan through Afghanistan. In the 2021/2022 Financial Year, Kenya exported tea worth Ksh99 billion, but the amount dropped to Ksh88 billion in the subsequent year.

While the demand for Kenyan tea has not wavered in Pakistan, more people are buying the smuggled product.

According to PBS, a cup of tea in Pakistan was costing Ksh7 in 2012 but rose exponentially to Ksh23 in 2023.

With the minimum wage in the country pegged at Ksh7100, Dawn was worried that citizens were spending up to 30 per cent of their salary on tea.

“The imported tea from Kenya is blended to create each brand's distinctive taste and strength. The rest is all marketing,” the paper wrote.

Pakistan imports tea worth Ksh68 billion annually; according to Dawn, this was not sustainable for the country.

“If the entire country forwent drinking tea from Kenya for two years, the amount saved would be roughly equal to the last tranche of the International Monetary Fund loan that the country is desperately trying for,” the newspaper pointed the need for the country to cut down its caffeine addiction.

This was after the Pakistan government classified tea as an essential import commodity and the Pakistan Central Bank approved the use of US dollars as the transaction currency in the tea business.

Pakistan imports over 45 per cent of Kenyan Tea, making it Kenya’s largest trade partner in the tea sector.

Not entirely true... Rawlings was a good man, with seamingly good intentions, but his problem was that most of the good actions he took was done at the wrong time with wrong methods. Most of the love and support Rawlings got or is getting was mostly as a result of his charisma and nothing else. With a little vision and intelligence coupled with the fact that he was in power for that long, Rawlings should have been our Lee Quan Yew, our benevolent dictator.

Rawlings had the opportunity to take Ghana to at least Malaysia's level if he was smart enought. Thats why I am not surprised his minister then were some of the most corrupt.
Check this out:

70% percent of Ghana developmental, socio economic and political problems are firmly rooted in the 1992 constitution which was created by Rawlings and his people. Take a look at:

a) Look at the huge number of MPs, ministers, DCEs and their salaries not to talk of ex gratia and the useless portfolios like council of state
and elders :- He didnt even have the vision to know that it will be exploited by political parties and that he should have given it a cap. Just so you know we are about to have hit 300 MPs, thanks to Rawlings.

b) look at all the mining and mineral exploration deals, most were signed under him. Minings companies repatriate all profits back to their home countries, all thanks to Rawlings' deals with them in the constitution.

c) Look at how we have shifted the job of spatial development and the development of the local economy from the DCEs to the MPs, its all the work of the 92 constitution, thanks to Rawlings.

d) Not to talk of all the great business men/women and intellectuals he chased out of the country.

I can go on and on, but if you want to know how Rawlings stiffled our development dont compare him to those other mediocre African dictators, compare him with the likes of Mahatir Mohammed of Malaysia or Lee Quan Yew. Even in Ghana Acheampong was far better than Rawlings.

If we should give Ghana to Lee Quan Yew, and task him with the respeonsibilty of developing Ghana in 20 years, with all the resources etc will Ghana be in this mess? Just ask yourself.

Rawlings kill we ankasa. Most people know but like I said he was so charismatic that a lot of people overlook his shortcomings.
Anyway RIP papa J

Rawlings did not craft the 1992 constitution, it was crafted by Kuffour and his people to protect Rawlings.

Rawlings had nothing to become our lee Quan yew, the country was under various forms of sanctions and broke after years of mismanagement.
Rawlings took that broke country and stabilized it.

You can't put a cap on the formation of new constituencies, not even the US and UK have caps and that is why there is gerrymandering in democracies.
It is not Rawlings fault that your current politicians are too stupid to know that the more constituencies they create, the lesser the cake for everyone and the more cost it creates for govt. This is class one knowledge.

Acheampong is never better than Rawlings, Acheampong mismanagement and looting of the state coffers is one of the reasons why Rawlings felt the need to do what he did...

Rawlings was not just love for his charisma but also because he made sure the work was done, just like Nkrumah used to do. Under him was one of the few times corrupt people were actually dealt with.
Look at the GRA commissioner running away with his entire family because he signed a corrupt deal with the Offori Attah's mafia organization....under Rawlings, that will never happen.

Prudence in governance existed under him and we had a greater deal of accountability.

Ghana has a general development that gives you the same quality of live in any part of Ghana that you choose to live, Angola does not.

As someone who knows Angola as myself, Angola is as shitty as Kenya. While I praise Luanda, I'll never stoop low to compare Angola to Ghana just like I don't stoop low to compare Kenya and Ghana

Accra, Ghana 🇬🇭 to have a new towers called "Fusion"

Fusion project is made up of a 30 floors bulding and another 12 floors building. There are designed to be a perfect integration of location, function, and the local community. The designated site is at the junction of Liberation Road and Dr. Amlicar Cabral Road in the heart of Accra, Ghana.

The towers themselves have designated functions. The smaller tower is an office space. The lower levels are designed to be a shared workspace. The upper levels are intended to house individual companies. At the top of this building is a green exhibition space that may be used for installations, corporate events, product launches, parties, or even weddings.

The second tower consists of 3 rotated blocks that are designated by function. A sky club is located on the top floor. Below the sky club is a 4-5 star hotel. The following two blocks contain service apartments, however, at the point where they are rotated, they are connected to the office tower by a bridge.
