In God we trust. Things are getting clearer, the deed has been done, intelligent Nigerians will never make the same mistake again in choosing their leader with their vote. Do not trust anyone except God who never fail to fulfill his promises. |

Unsolicited telephone calls: Lagos Lawyer slams Telecom Companies with 80 billion Naira class action lawsuit. Following the refusal of GSM operators to halt their privacy-invading unsolicited telephone calls despite NCC's directives, a Lagos-based Consumer Rights Lawyer, Olumide Babalola, has filed a class action suit at the Lagos High Court for himself and on behalf of all the subscribers of the GSM operators who might have received the unsolicited calls and messages. In the suit No. LD/3981MFHR/2016 that was filed on Wednesday, 14th September 2016 against the four major Telecommunication Companies in Nigeria to wit: Emerging Markets Telecommunication Service Ltd (Etisalat network); Airtel Networks Ltd (Airtel network), Globacom Ltd (Globacom network) and MTN Nigeria Communications Ltd (MTN network), the Applicant prayed for declaratory, injunctive and compensatory reliefs and especially the sum of 20 billion Naira in damages against each of the Telecommunication Companies for the infraction of their subscribers' fundamental rights to private and family life as guaranteed by section 37 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (As amended). In order to join the law suit to claim compensation, any interested affected subscriber can “opt-in” by contacting the Lawyers at: classaction2016@outlook.com As at press time, the newly filed suit is yet to be assigned to any judge. |
