Sir, fornication in marriage? The Jews understood jesus rightly meaning he made divorce impossible which prompted Simon Peter to say: if that is so btw a man and wife it proper not to marry. Hence towards the end of Matt 19, Jesus gave 3 reasons why celibacy/renunciation of marriage will always go on. Christ was emphatic regarding the indissolubility of Christian marriage not just any union. From earliest days of Christianity, the church fathers and theologians have understood "illicit" as the right translation of porneia. It is a pity the wind of modernism is influencing translation thereby weakening the Christian spirit.
