Incrizz:
'Feel it on my lower abdomen.
I rub my pelvic bone at the back like women in labour do, the dimpled spot, and the pain disappears like magic. As soon as I stop rubbing, the pain starts again.
Lie on my back and bend both my knees to my chest, the pain disappears like clouds melt into thin air.
I pace.

Pcguru1 you know when you rinse a cloth and you squeeze to dry? Yeah.
Just imagine someone's grabbed a hold of your abdomen and is twisting it from only one end like that. It could get so intense your legs turn jelly. Cramps.

Mine isn't as horrible as some of the experiences listed here, but I get abdominal cramps that can be accompanied by vomiting and stooling. Basically it's just like my period doesn't like sharing the womb region of my body with anything so if I just ate before, I'll vomit and then stool until my stomach is empty then the cramps will set in. Funny story: I was constipated for like 4 days but then my period came and the stool was free passage. grin

How I deal with it is by drinking warm water or tea, bending the knees to touch the stomach (simple warmup exercises) and just rolling around and crying for God to forgive Eve already for her disobedience. Lol. grin

I tried felvin at one point, it worked like magic, but it altered my period that is almost like a clockwork, so I stopped using it. I'd rather plan ahead to the D-day than to be caught unawares because of irregular cycle. Or worse, affect something in my biological framework because of pain I can manage naturally.

menstrual cramps are painful
sensations felt in the inner thighs, lower abdomen and back that can
occur both before and during a woman's
menstrual period. The pain ranges from dull
and annoying to severe and extreme. The pain is usually a result of the uterus contracting to expel blood.
Dysmenorrhea is the medical term for menstrual cramps.

Not all ladies experience this, some have no pain at all, in some the discomfort is mild and some others get very bad cramps

I have a friend who vomits each time she gets her period, yes! hers is that bad

Sometimes it gets so bad that i don't feel like going out at all,i just stay in bed all day and if I have someplace really important to go to, I resort to pain relievers.

For me,it usually gets better after the 1st day of my period,I feel lesser pain on the second day and nothing at all on the third and fourth day

tell us how you deal with this discomfort, what works for you

you might save someone from this nightmare

I take a lot of sugary things especially Pepsi ( i take nothing less than 2bottles everyday, even during my period) but I take paracetamol morning and evening three days to my menstrual date, it really works like magic for me, no single pain when my menses finally arrive...

Just dealt with mine today. I use Felvin. Within an hour or two I usually feel better m. If I don't use it, I experience pain, stooling and spitting on a ridiculous level and I can't deal.

My doctor friend said all is well no cause for alarm. It is because of things like this I don't even rely on drugs for dealing with menstrual pain I prefer to endure the pain just that it's not always easy enduring the pain that pain can kill a woman sef cry chei I need to carry a 9Months pregnancy so that I won't have to deal with menstrual pain infact let menopause age reach abeg... cry

Extremely painful menstruation is usually one of the symptoms of an underlying gynaecological condition.
Advise your friend to do an MRI scan of her pelvis (with specific emphasis on the endometrial cavity). What she is trying to rule out is a condition called endometriosis! You can also read about it.

Reason why I didn’t ask her to see a gynaecologist first is because many of them, unfortunately, due to their training and practice environment, believe painful menstruation is not big of a deal.
Once the result is out, then she can go see a gynaecologist.
Good luck to you and your friend.

Note:
This is a pointer to all you ladies in this same situation!
