The problem is that you can’t develop a country or continent where the majority of people who have the potential to become leaders are raised to be “good subalterns” to be successful.

What expertise does Africa has to be great without contact with "outsiders" ? None yet we blame all our problems on these people.

6. Inadequate Science, Technology, And Engineering Education.

When colonialists invaded Africa, they claimed to bring the good news of education, religion and trade.

Well, they delivered on their promise but not in a manner that could help the indigenous Africans be self-sufficient.

Instead of educating the African child on science and technology, they favored literature and subaltern mindset that would equip graduates with knowledge only good enough to enable them assist these people in running their colonial governments.

Africa has a lot of “talkers”, people with oratory prowess. Now, we don’t need more of those lawyers, sociologists, philosophers, but more scientists and engineers.

7. Media Injustice.

If you have been watching international media, you will realise that they can never depict Africa positively.

Should an African do a great thing, they may run the story but will give credit to another “white man” they claim to have made it possible for the African to achieve his goal.

The negative portrayal international media gives to Africa makes the foreigners think of this great continent as the darkest part of the world.

I belief that the current recession we are going through in Nigeria is a kind of lesson in disguise,
God has really bless us in this country with almost all what we need to survive, {man resource, Natural resources, mineral resources}
But God want us to be up and doing, we have to start producing things for both local consumption and export.

Very good topic.

I have often wondered why the African continent is not developed.

We have very educated Africans in leadership, yet they behave like stone age human beings. They are VERY greedy and selfish.

Gone are the days when we said, Africans were not educated that was why we are not developed. But how do you explain the condition particularly in Nigeria, where most leaders are graduates (some with master and doctorate degrees) yet they have not overcome the stone age mentality of survival of the fittest, stealing and looting funds under their custody and selfishness and greed?

I am sad seeing leaders who are graduates stealing public funds and bragging about it.

Finally, I will say that Africa has not been able to develop because our education instead of making us useful to the society, has turned us to bare faced criminals, with stone age mentality of selfishness and greed.

8. Corruption.

In many countries you can pay off police officers to ignore any crime, horrific or devastating, it’s just a matter of price.

In Zimbabwea nine-year old girl was raped on her way to school by a man who infected her with HIV. The police initially arrested her attacker, but then released him in secret. The reason, he paid a bribe.

Nearly 75 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa are estimated to have paid a bribe in the past year, some to escape punishment by the police or courts, but many forced to pay to get access to the basic services that they desperately need.

A President/Governor wants to remain in power for ever, why? To embezzle.

A situation where ten people are pocketing Billions of Dollars that are meant to care for Employments, Health care, Housing, Portable water, and well being of over 100,000,000 citizens.

In some countries, if you are not connected you can't get anything good no matter how capable/qualified you are.

The problem with Africa is simply Ignorance and lack of personal value.

Our leaders do not see the future because white supremacists have blindfolded them with money and the one(s) who will be stubborn to stand against white Oligarchs will be silently or publicly killed/maimed and his name could be removed from good stories of History.

I think African/Blacks were created to be slaved ..... I wonder why God did it that way.

It will take a supernova intervention before black world could be liberated from white supremacists and our blackness.

Africa number 1 problem is the white man!

If you look at it all the 10 problems the OP is listing, you would find that the white man is behind it.

The solution is clear to solve Africa's problem we simply have to recognise that the white man is our enemy be it in most cases covertly. All we need to do then is treat the white man as the enemy he is and completely cut all friendly ties with them.

The black man has been so mentally enslaved mis-educated and brainwashed by the white man, the he seems unable or unwilling to see the white man as the enemy he is.

If you are unable to see the white man as your enemy, ponder on this question:

What does most expect an enemy who perpetrated genocide against or wickedness against an innocent victim, have to do, to be forgiven by their victim, so the relationship between the victim and his tormentor can normalise and become friendly?

Now given that historically we the black man have been the innocent victim of the white man's wickedness and genocide;

Would you say that the white man has done what is necessary for the black man to forgive him, and normalise relations to be friendly?

Another way or angle to look at it is:

Nobody but your enemy would profit from your misfortune.

Think of every misfortune that has ever befallen the black man, and you will realise that in every single case, the white man has benefited economically.

The same white man that is expected to be making amends for the genocide of the past.

1. Humanitarian organization like UNICEF, and the likes have done more damage to Africa than the marginal positive impact they supposedly have had.

In order to raise money for their operations, they have engaged into a “poverty porn” depicting Africa with the most degrading, and humiliating images.

African people dignity is not something they cared about. The huge billboard and magazines photos showing Africa at its worst now fill the mind of billions of people around the world, and unfortunately those people can’t help but think about Africa only through those images.

(In the same time, those medias won’t show the photo of a dead American or English soldier, because it’s shocking and doesn’t respect human dignity).

It is widely believed that Africa is a poor continent even by the Africans themselves. If that were true, why then did the colonists come?

African countries have some of the most valuable natural resources that form raw materials for the industries responsible for the growth of the developed world yet the people living in Africa are poor. Humanitarian organization such as UNICEF, WHO and Doctors without Boarders among others survive on portraying Africa as a dark poor continent to get funding for their quire operations in the continent.
Absolutely on point.

This their "assistance" has been occurring for approximately half a century, so how is it that black man lot has gotten worse during their so called aid.

9. Crab Mentality(Unity).

'I dream of the realisation of the unity of Africa, whereby its leaders combine in their effort to solve the problems of this continent.' Nelson Mandela.

If you put several crabs into a bucket, and one of them begins to crawl out, one or more of the other crabs will pull it back down and prevent its escape.

It’s called Crab Mentality. This is a good metaphor for us as Africans to Unite, create strong networks that support each other, ensuring unity of power and purpose.

Don't bring your ignorance here. The U.S.A being the world power house today constitutes the largest population of Christians in the world with over 280million people (70%) identifying as Christians.

The former world power UK, has 62% Christians. There are about 65-70% Christians in Germany. Christians in Russia constitute about 75% of the entire population. These are the most powerful and civilized nations in the world.

Name one atheist country that can compete with these. Atheists always trying to be relevant.

Africans like enjoyment more than work.

Most of the procedes of ill-gotten wealth is to use same for oppressing our fellows instead of making things better for them.

If not, why would someone be keeping hundreds of million or even billions in liquid cash in banks? In other peoples country?

What is wrong in investing that huge amount of money back into the system so that a few other people might be employed and earn their living from that money while the same money grows and increase?

Africans just believe that they have to bring others down in other to move ahead, whereas there is just enough to go round for everybody

Many of those western world have conquered hunger

Imagine stuff like chololate made from our cocoa,

Corn flakes made from maize with shelf live of 2 yts +

Sardine in sauce,

Baked beans

Potato chips which is basically irish potatoes with shelf life 1yr +

Tomato paste etc etc

I can go on and on.

We farm, enjoy bumper harvest, enjoy cheap food for a few months and after nearly half has spoilt, food becomes expensive we complain, dont learn any lessons and the cycle continue.

Is their anything wrong with us preserving food or adding value to it?

10. Poor Understanding Of the World.

Knowledge is the key to success, power.

For Africans to achieve anything meaningful, they need to understand what is going on elsewhere in the world as these serve to shape their lives.

This lack of intelligence is bad, because it leaves the continent unaware of events and shifts that could affect it.

Why would someone want to know more about this world when his religion describes everything in this world as "canal" or "vanity" and is more interested in "making heaven" than actually making this world better when this world is ruled by the "devil"?

There is no record of that in the history of Nigeria that the early missionaries spread Christianity (or forced it down our throats like you wrongly believe) through forceful conversions and/or brutality.

Never in the history of the world has it been recorded that missionaries in a bid to spread Christianity used forceful conversions or lethal force on innocent harmless individuals. It has never and will never happen.

But on the contrary, Christians have always faced persecution and death in the hands of "supposedly" religious people. An example is the case of Jesus Christ who was killed. Christians were also faced with all kinds of persecution in the hands of the Romans of old.

Do you know that those early missionaries also brought us education and health care? Christianity is the reason the South is in contrast with the north.
