Seem the folks from the north have learned this lucrative, albeit hazardous profession from their southern brethren.

But still, why would they open fire first, against a better equipped soldiers?
The dead can't talk, so we can't ask them. We can only go with the one sided story for now. I would have said they look more like hunters than kidnappers. They were not with a kidnapped victim, so I don't know where the kidnap angle emanated from.

bros, u get point oo .. they look like hunters .

I've never heard of a local government called 'Ningi ' in Bauchi state
but rather "RINGI GANI" very close to MAGAMA and kind of boundary between Jos and Bauchi.

What I do not understand is how can they open fire on soldiers with superior fire power. For crying out loud they are only having dane guns that can hardly kill an antelope. Are we sure these are kidnappers? Don't believe everything you read on the papers.

A 7.62mm round at close range leaves very little splatter with tiny entry and exit wounds..

Point Noted. But all these wounds are too much to leave little or no blood stains on the weapons

God is watching
