you wonder too right? but here is the dealio, since they are actually guilty of their allegations, they needed to cook up a fake medical condition from a corrupt doctor to evade prosecution. as long as they have that, the prosecutor will follow due process to attend their fake health issues which is always an escape route abroad thereby prolonging their trial and consequentially, the beginning of the end of the trial.
