4) What is the volume of liquid in cubic feet if we fill the tank to one foot high?
A. 28.27 ft3
B. 18.8 ft3
C. 113.1 ft3
D. 424.1 ft3.

5) What is the total volume of the tank in cubic feet?
A. 1686.5 ft3
B. 442.5 ft3
C. 424.1 ft3
D. 847.5 ft3.

6) What is the volume of water in cubic ft in the tank if a measure stick indicates the water surface is 6 feet below the top of the tank?
A. 170.2 ft3
B. 254.4 ft3
C. 1017.9 ft3
D. 678.6 ft3.

7) What is the weight in pounds of the tank, as in the above case, if the tank itself weighs 20 lbs per ft of height?
A. 63,424 lbs
B. 42,241 lbs
C. 16,151 lbs
D. 10,605 lbs.

cool How much water in gallons would have to be removed to reduce the total weight of the tank plus water, as in the above case, by 20%?
A. 388 gals
B. 3,230 gals
C. 2,121 gals
D. 626 gals.

9) What would be the new level of the water, as measured from the top of the tank, if the water in the above case (equivalent of 20% of total weight) is removed?
A. 10.4 ft
B. 12.7 ft
C. 7.1 ft
D. 7.8 ft.

4. Volume of cylinder=πr^2h
r=d/2=6/2=3
h=15ft, but h=1foot given here,
=22/7*3^2*1=28.27ft3
5. Total volume, here h=15ft.
V=πr^2h=22/7*3^2*15=424.1
6. 6ft below d top of d tank implies h=15ft-6ft=9
V=πr^2h=22/7*3^2*9=254.4ft3
Gurus, pls take it up from here

4, 5, 6 is simple don't know if you can solve 7, 8, 9 I have tried but I'm just not getting it
48noble:

volume of cylinder=πr^2h. π=3.142, r=6/2=3ft
where h varies only...as given
therefore;
4). 3.142*9*1= 28.3ft^3

5) 3.142*9*15= 424.1ft^3

6) 3.142*9*9=254.4ft^3

Cary sold more.

Solution:
Make Ellen sales be X
Therefore Ellen = X sales
Andy = 2X
Bob = 3X sales
Cary = 2 * 3X = 6X sales
Dora = 3X + X = 4X sales

Although uR answer is right, but the real solution is:
Make Ellen sales be X
Therefore Ellen = X sales
Andy = 2X
Bob = x + 3 sales (3 more than Ellen)
Cary = 2 (X + 3) =2X + 6 sales
Dora = (X + 3) + X = 2x + 3 sales

Test-Taking Strategies
1. Read very carefully the set of statements on which a question is based.
Pay close attention to
• what is put forward as factual information
• what is not said but necessarily follows from what is said
• what is claimed to follow from facts that have been put forward
• how well substantiated are any claims that a particular conclusion follows from the facts
that have been put forward
In reading the arguments, it is important to pay attention to the logical reasoning used; the
actual truth of statements portrayed as fact is not important.
2. Identify the conclusion.
The conclusion does not necessarily come at the end of the text; it may come somewhere in the
middle or even at the beginning. Be alert to clues in the text that an argument follows
logically from another statement or statements in the text.
3. Determine exactly what each question asks.
You might find it helpful to read the question first, before reading the material on which it is
based; don’t assume that you know what you will be asked about an argument. An argument
may have obvious flaws, and one question may ask you to detect them. But another question
may direct you to select the one answer choice that does NOT describe a flaw in the
argument.
4. Read all the answer choices carefully.
Do not assume that a given answer is the best without first reading all the choices.
